Acclaim I’m begging you guys just sell your soul to Konami and license the arcade game. No more stuff by Imagineering or Sculptuted Software PLEASE

Why the difference in his eyes on the SNES artwork?

Krusty will catch hantavirus if he lets rats climb on him like that

Acclaim were lazy mother fuckers

The premise of the game is kinda dumb, setting up an elaborate path for rats to wander into a rat killing machine (operated by familiar faces), whilst there are actual enemies on some levels that require finite ammo (custard pies) to kill.

It just begs why Krusty doesn't just kill the rats on sight somehow.
>>
Acclaim was milking that Simpson's license hard in the early years of the show. Back then they probably thought the Simpson's was going to be a passing fad that wouldn't last longer than 5 years or so.

Simpsons was literally one of the biggest shows in America in its first season.

I'm sure in Japan some guy said this about Bandai and begged for no more TOSE or Pack-In-Video stuff.

>Simpsons was literally one of the biggest shows in America in its first season.

That's usually how a passing fad works. Nobody (not even Fox) predicted that the Simpsons would have been still going strong past the ten year mark of the show.
>>
>>12576385
What would the 'passing fad' aspect of it be? Couldn't that apply to shows like Home Improvement and Seinfeld?

>Sometimes I wish we lived in the Angry SEGA Nerd timeline, we could've gotten Flying Edge kino.

Flying Edge only existed as a subsidiary of Acclaim to get around Nintendo's third party exclusivity contracts. Which was a real thing, as Nintendo had a literal monopoly on third party publishers in the North American console market. Acclaim owned both LJN and Flying Edge in the 90's.

Yeah, something like that. Back in the 1980's and 1990's TV audiences were fickle and something that was hot for the first few seasons could easily fall of a cliff in ratings. Producers at Comedy Central thought that the popularity of South Park wouldn't last for very long either. TV producers were always bracing for the worst.

Member when that faggot Nesrocks TRIED to make an NES port of the arcade game but it ended up in just some goofy mockups and was in who gives a fuck pause for years an now is ''totally not but actually yes'' abandoned?

https://x.com/bitinkstudios/status/1714499564965679311

Other faggot made a worthless clickbait article over this whole piece of nothing this thing really was, 98% of these ''dream'' homebrews end up just being ''i was just goofing and toying around to see what i could do and crash and burn at the end''

there were lots of commercial releases back in the day that got cancelled too and never saw the light of day like that SNES Socks The Cat game, big deal

LOL, so I take it they went the Ultra Games route. AFAIIK, Acclaim published Space Mutants on NES.
>>
>>12576238
You know there’s two Classic Simpsons episodes about why selling your soul is a bad idea right?
>>

Acclaim were also some of the only guys to make their own NES cart PCBs using an MMC1 clone chip. They sold them to LJN as well.

I think the later ads were actually done by Simpsons production artists.

The other day I was at a gathering with my gf's family and numerous siblings and their partners, all between 20 and 33 as oldest, and I put on the Do The Bartman music video on, and everyone slowly started making silence and paying attention to it, and started asking me what was this or from what episode was this from, like really confused as to how was there such cool old simpson video and they didn't know about it.
Wild to think this piece of bartmania is kind of memoryholed from pop culture

Yeah, it was a number one hit single from the Simpsons album: The Simpsons: Sing the Blues. I had this cassette when I was a kid. The Simpson's Sing the Blues was made up of 100% original songs. None from the show. Do the Bartman was secretly co-written and produced by Michael Jackson. It has his audio styling all over it. The music video charted on MTV for 2-3 months straight and was even a number one hit. There are also two other music videos, Deep Deep Trouble (stealth co-written by Will Smith) and 'Look at all those Idiots", a track that was sung by Mr. Burns and Smithers. Yeah, it was memoryholed.
>>
>>12576287
It's a puzzle game, anon. You might as well ask "Why doesn't Jill just smash the glass case open with a pistol whip?"
>>
>>12577387
I wonder why was it memoryholed though. It's a surprisingly good music album for being a licensed cash-in product.
>>
>>12576276
"Rat Trap" was never actually released. Fox and Williams shopped the game around and Acclaim decided to license it, but they wanted the graphics changed to sell it as a Simpsons game.
>>
>>12576251
The SNES box has less artwork real estate, so the artist turned the viewer's attention to the rats on Krusty's head.
>>
>>12576461
BTW what are your "dream" homebrews?

watch the first season numbnuts, these ads are Matt Groening drawings and are no different (except for colour) than the early show.
>>
>>12578420
Production artists from the show made those drawings, Groening himself just has his signature slapped on them (dude's actual drawings are very messy and sketch-like, though he got better at drawing them closer to the stock corporate artstyle as he got older). Same thing with the T-shirts and general merchandise.

Them Amiga developers really got their money's worth with reskinning their game.

I assume it was because of Michael Jackson's involvement
