as someone who only lightly touched this game back in the day and never did a proper playthrough. I am very impressed how fast and fluid this controls, how addicting the gameplay is, and how spooky/adrenaline pumping this still is. Dying is such a kick in the dick losing all your weapons and ammo but I kept persevering. I had a blast and couldnt put it down until I cleared everything, even though I normally avoid FPS games in general. that being said the ps1 version is clearly the best, the ambient horror soundtrack heightens the atmosphere tremendously compared to the boomer metal slop. I finally get it now, good game was... le good.
>>12577735PS1 version is too much of a downgrade.
>>12577735Loved playing it with a few friends of mine.I personally always reverted back to the PC version when on my own. Nonetheless a worthy Doom.
>>12577735First doom version I played and it did have a better atmosphere than the PC original. The lack of enemies and smaller maps meant it was never as good though. There are good conversions of the PlayStation doom for modern gzdoom that make it much better.
It definitely has aged very well, OP. The ambient soundtrack and different colors really give it it's own identity. It's an unironically good way to play Doom.>>12577998shut up faggot
>>12577998doom 2 enemies in doom 1 maps is an upgrade
>>12577735my preferred version
is it just me or is the shotgun better than the rail gun?
