>made the best job system in any FF game>never used it againFucking WHY
maybe it wasn't as good as you think
>>12578821It was too easy to end up with a shitty team you couldn't do anything about. Also it was kind of used in FF Tactics.
>>12578821They pretty much copy and pasted it in FFT then expanded on it friend.
>>12578831>It was too easy to end up with a shitty team you couldn't do anything about. There are multiple points in the game where grinding ABP is easy as hell, including an enemy in the final dungeon that gives like 200 per fight. There's also a community challenge that has been running for years to take randomly chosen classes as a restriction. Learn how to use more than just X-fight abuse.
>>12578840The problem is most people just want to play through the game, not grind for hours to offset something you have no control over or impose some arbitrary challenge on yourself. The game expects you to level normally and then choose a promotion which you are then stuck with.
>>12578843>The problem is most people just want to play through the game, not grind for hoursI just told you how not to do that. My point was that if you can't figure out how to make your choices work, it takes next to no time to unlock abilities that can make it work. And even then, you don't need a remotely optimal setup to get through how easy the game is. Your argument is better suited to a game like 3 where you pretty much need specific classes in specific dungeons.>The game expects you to level normally and then choose a promotion which you are then stuck with. What promotion? You can use first crystal classes the entire game with zero issues.
FF was always about challenging new heights not resting on their laurels
>>12578850I actually dropped the game about halfway through because I ended up grinding for so long I got bored.
>never used it againhuh?
>>12578871Pic unrelated btw I just felt like posting it
>>12578831>>12578834The job system is from FF3 (NES). Which I guess obviously neither of you played.
>>12578876Based
>>12578859Then try playing without grinding like the game intends?
>>12578876I never said it wasn't retard, OP asked >never used it againand 3 kinda comes before 5.
>>12578886Both posts imply FFT originated it.
>>12578887They were answering OP's question, since Tactics came out after 5, ESL-kun.
>>12578889Stfu cunt
>>12578831>It was too easy to end up with a shitty team you couldn't do anything about.Which is the fault of the player and something just as easily fixed
>>12578882If you get a party of fully equipped onion kids you can absolutely wreck this game. Most people don't though because it's a seemingly throwaway start class.
>>12578821because if they did, you'd be screeching about how they're lazy and rehashing stuff from previous games
>>12578843>I want to play a 30 year old jrpg but I don't want to grind
>>12578897I don't think anyone (sane) is going to be whining about the best job system being rehashed
If you've never played an RPG before then the choices might be a bit overwhelming but you don't need to grind even on a blind playthrough, just don't try to make everybody do everything.Pick a vague role for each team member and spec them into that, they're all basically blank slates.
>>12578821They kind of used it again, but instead of having everyone use any class, they made every character be a separate class. FFVI had one character being a thief, one is a monk, one is a knight, one is a mage, one is a samurai, one is a ninja, etc.>>12578843You don't have to grind to offset anything, the game is piss easy, just make sure you have both physical fighters and mages at the same time and you can't lose. Or later game you can have four dancers with half of them using mage abilities and the other half using physical abilities thanks to the class system allowing you to combine shit freely. The maximum lulz moment is making berserker monks, they can do four digit damage almost as early as you get them and they do it barehanded. That's the entire point, you can combine everything in hilarious ways and do actual role playing.
>>12578885That was how I started but the promotion system eventually had me grinding. Tbh you're probably just forgetting what a first play through is even like since you're assuming that first time players will know where tf the perfect grind locations are and how to offset the lack of balance or how to create a good team. If you've played the game multiple times or over the span of decades as you probably have you're going to know those things, but otherwise no.This whole debate reminds me of the wall jump mechanic in Super Metroid, which people who have played the game for years think is just fine, but is dog shit for first timers and is objectively, confirmably flawed since they fixed it in later games. Just because you've learned how to work around the flaws doesn't mean they're not there. You should not have to repeatedly play through a game to be able to enjoy it.
>>12579060Typical grinding before a boss fight or something is fine. Having to grind because a promotion breaks a character just isn't fun is all.
>>12579083The first time I played it I went with an all physical team and by the Lonka Ruins the game was unplayable hard (the turrets kicked my ass), then I switched to mages and they did bajillion pts of damage and the game was easy again. At that point I realized the game doesn't have any difficult part, it only has puzzles and you always have to fight the right thing. Like the stone knights are stupid difficult but you can kill them by using Soft, there are a bunch of enemies with no weakpoints that can get sniped but Blowfish, how magic element weaknesses work and if an enemy has an elemental weakness but high magic def you can get around it with magic knights, that you can use the levelup/down potions to make enemies susceptible to Level 4 Flare or Level 5 Doom, and that blue mages get bullshit overpowered as long as you have one active the entire game to learn the good skills. And if all else fails, use GP Toss.
>>12578821Bravely Default is the best job system focused FF
>>12579083>>12579085>PromotionAre you even talking about the right game? FF3 was the one where later classes were straight up upgrades of earlier ones. FF5's jobs are pretty much all different from one another, and again, the ones you get from the first crystal can easily get you through the entire game as long as at least one is a physical and one magic.>Super MetroidTake your adderall. Might be why you are struggling.
Does anyone actually use any of the fun but weak classes like Beastmaster / Geomancer?
>>12579083>you're assuming that first time players will know where tf the perfect grind locations areSee there's this funny thing when you win a battle it TELLS you how much ABP you gain so you can tell when enemies give MORE points than other ones.
