i had a pirated copy of this game when i was a kid and it had some really strange problem, when the infogrames logo showed up, if you pressed the X button (or maybe it was square) the screen would turn black and white and it would move like a film reel but if you pressed the other button the game would start just fine. I think that pirated copy had both the pal and NTSC versions and pressing one of the buttons would change to one of them
