What is the best version? And if it's the PC version, is there any mod I need or just the GOG version is fine?
Dreamcast version for its graphical updates and 60fps gameplay, PC version is fine too (it does run at 60fps too), iirc GOG version now comes with Ray2fix which fixes most of the issues with the game on modern systems, but there's also Rayman Control Panel if you want a fancy launcher and install mods and shit.
Personally I prefer PS2 because I like its detailed hubworld and the bonus stages, but it's basically just a matter of taste since all versions have their pros and cons (maybe except for PS1 since it is mostly inferior)For most people it's either PS2 or Dreamcast, so if you don't want to read up on all the differences between every version, just pick one out of these two.
>>12580984Dreamcast version would be perfect if they didn't replace the Hall of Doors with the inferior Isle of Doors, because other than that it has the best graphics out of the "original" versionsThe latest GOG version is great because it has all of the fixes you'd want included (pic related)Both are great
>>12580984played it on my dreamcast on an old pc crt late last year. best way by far.
whichever one has raymanese
Well, guess I officially beat the game.
>>12582335kek I made the same choice
>>12580984PS2 version is basically perfect with the 16:9 + 60 fps patches, no glitches whatsoever, no stretched UI elements or anything.PS2 version has an overworld + voice acted dialog unlike the other versions. All that said, the game is jank af if you're coming off modern platformers like Super Mario Odyssey or A Hat In Time. Horrible hitboxes, collision and controls. I only lasted about halfway.
>>12580984According to the director, the DreamCast versionBest version would be a decompilation project based on DC that ports it to PC but that will never happen since it didn't with the much easier to mod Rayman 1.Some alternate level layouts from PS1 are interesting but most are trimmed down versions and not worth it as a whole, it has one level from the cancelled 2D version. The PS2 additions (some extra bosses barely animated, some bloat) are poorly designedThe DS/3DS versions are downgrades in every wayThe PC/N64 versions are fairly similar
>>12582370I want the Dreamcast version with the PS1 lighting and Rayman model. They messed up Rayman's eyes on the Dreamcast version for some reason? And the lighting on PS1 is higher contrast and more colorful than any other version.
