Hexen is the most black metal game I ever played. Pure black metal aesthetics.

>Skwisgaar gets really into Katamari; everyone else is dismissive because it's a "baby game for babies" but then they get into it, leading to the band creating an enormous Klokamari that rolls up the entire audience and records their screams

I only really watched the first season back in the day, then went back and rewatched that and a bit of the second season much more recently. Is it worth going through the rest? I stopped because it didn't feel as fun and fresh at some point.
>>

it's very uneven, some episodes are great, some are shit
it's a bit of a friendslop show, better watched with metalhead mates over some beers
>>
>>12581809
I think I also didn't much care for the overarching plotline that was developing. I liked it better when the council was more or less just a caricature of boomer moral crusaders complaining about the youth being corrupted by metal and such, and taking it to the extreme. Or maybe it was always there and I didn't pay enough attention, idk.

The showrunners didn't care for it either, they just clumsily wrapped it all up in The Doomstar Requiem movie.

PS: Funny, while writing this post I looked into what Brendon Small has been up to, and it turns out he's released another movie, "Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar". I guess now I have to watch it.

>it's a bit of a friendslop show
yeah i can see that.
i love metal but for the most part i can't stand metalhead depictions in media. it's often overly exaggerated and sometimes mean-spirited. however brutal legend more or less struck a good balance between parody and genuine love for the culture

speaking of Jack Black, The Pick of Destiny is also pretty cool

and Spinal Tap, of course

I would see this on adult swim back in the day and I always thought it was gay and cringe. This show appealed to a very specific subset of highschool "metalheads": skinnyfat manlets with long hair that wore band shirts and cargo shorts, probably had a chain wallet, constantly referenced shit like South Park and Family Guy as a substitute for a personality, didn't shut the fuck up about the movie 300 for half a decade, claimed to be "weed dealers" for selling one dub of brick weed a month, and likely played WoW with a clique of other skinnyfats. Honestly, I went back and watched the whole series a couple years ago on a whim while drunk one night, and I'll admit that it can be legitimately funny at times. Unfortunately, the bulk majority of the show is the typical "barely-animated characters say le quirky things to each other followed by 30 seconds of screaming" Adult Swim schlock, and I can frankly never let go of the association it shares with the skinnyfat WoW manlet phenotype that it is undeniably linked to on an akashic level.

It's fucking great. Very funny character writing and jokes. I also saw Dethklok live and it was an amazing set.

He may have already played this one.

Army of the Doomstar is really different from previous Metalocalypse stuff. The comedy is toned down a lot to make more room for the doomsday prophecy comic book story line.
Personally, I found that disappointing, although people who were more invested in the story seemed very happy with the way it turned out.

First 2 seasons are too metal in-joke oriented. Later seasons, especially episodes like eracism, are more universally funny. I can handle in-jokes because I'm the in-crowd, but if you're not it's going to be a lot less funny.
>>12581874
To be fair, they clumsily wrapped it up because the series was cancelled and they had to put two whole seasons into one hour.

Death metal wants good recording production. Black metal actively seeks ways to intentionally make the production sound worse (if TRVE CVLT) and in someways better resembles DIY punk in their quest to use whatever is on hand (if it actively make recording more raw)

Death metal = low pitched growls
Black metal = high pitched shrieks

>Nathan learns to respect women
that movie was a product of its time
But at least it wrapped up the plot properly, I don't watch a lot of american shows but I think it's normal for them to just run until they're cancelled with their plots never going anywhere.
Also it came with the Dethalbum IV and that was great

Season 3 is the best, it's got actual half hour episodes that are for the most part episodic with the plot only coming up at the beginning and at the end.

Plus the writing as at its peak

Yeah, it's quite common with any serialized media. Most manga endings are rubbish, for instance.
The Venture Bros went through similar circumstances but I think they managed to pull the closure off better.
