Sunken Cathedral. I wanted to step away from the usual megawads that I like to play and try something new since its was also recommended in the thread. I have to say, It was really well done map. I love the look and feel of it. the music and fights. Looked especially great in my OLED monitor. A bit too dark at times but it added to the experience.

I think all the levels in this wad are good, but this one's the only one short enough for a typical challenge. Many moons ago, lunchlunch would post his work in progress maps here for people to playtest. This map used to have a chainsaw at the start instead of a berserk, I remember because I was absentmindedly complaining about it when I was playtesting, I like to think he made the change in reaction to that. If you prefer one over the other, you (maybe) have me to blame/thank, but mostly you have lunchluch. Enjoy punching stuff.

Best way to kill stone gargoyles. Still gimmicky but it chunks the hell out of them, it doesn’t use a single point of ammo with each stab when used on them. The voodoo doll also doubles as a “sniper” weapon.

Those commits are in reference to the current in-development state of the project; the latest Nugget release is up to date with the latest Woof release, but Woof has a lot of changes due for a new release -- for that matter, Nugget has a few of its own too, but not nearly as many

Either way, I have another development branch with pretty much all the in-dev Woof stuff merged, it seems to be working fine; I would link autobuilds now that I'm here, but they've been failing for some reason, though I might fix them in a bit

I only make new proper releases with the new Woof stuff once Woof itself makes a release with that stuff, otherwise I would be releasing it before them, which I could but don't want to do, I find it kinda dirty in a way

another question then, right now every time i am installing woof i have to manually add a windows soundfont. the included soundfont (TimGM6mb.sf2) does NOT sound accurate to how midi playback should sound, for which most wads are designed with windows midi playback in mind. the best solution is to find a windows soundfont recreation. this might be legally dubious (soundfont bootlegging?) but it is the best way to hear doom music on platforms other than windows. unfortunately it is very annoying to find, especially since websites which serve soundfonts are uncommon, often require logins, spam the user with ads, and many of the ones circulating online are inaccurate or sound improper. would nugget doom be interested in using a soundfont ripped from windows, perhaps a recreation, or one that at the very least sounds more similar? if not, it will still be just as good as woof.

Pretty much, yes; there might be some differences between Woof and Nugget that one might proclaim as "missing features", but they should be really tiny, nowhere near lack of mod support or anything of the sort (unless I fucked up and made some mod crash, but if I discovered such a case I'd try to fix it)

About the soundfont, I imagine that if a fitting one appeared, Woof itself would include it; I'm not invested enough in the topic to find one and make sure it's legal, nor do I want to get in trouble

(I am very partial to Boom/MBF21, I have a good workflow with it, would really have liked if just a clone of MBF21 with a bunch of new generalized linedef actions and sector functions were added onto it, but I also understand why that's fucking kludgy and unreasonable to ask for.

I didn't like the previous charge missile attack I had for the short range drain laser, so instead it's a proper missile like the others: It sticks into monsters, dealing damage and spawning health pickups, then after it runs long enough or the monster dies, it blows up and drops another 5 health pickups. That's wrong. Even two taps of the standard fire can kill them, and even with the big health boost on Extra Crispy. You have to be in their face for it to work on this setting, sure, but then again you're asking for that kind of trouble if you're playing EC solo anyways. On Lightly Broiled they die pretty easily to it.

The tommy's altfire deals more damage than the standard fire. It's good against phantasms, a zombie horde in your face, anything close range really. The altfire is also much more accurate than the sprite suggests. Also, cultists are never attacking you when they're 'casually shuffling' away when taking any damage, it's how the game does hitstun in addition to the typical idSoft-shooter style of stagger.
Agreed about the pitchfork, may be the least fun melee option of the 'big three' Build games.

HND has its own footstep code, so yeah, this one's just HND. I just finished adding Strange Aeons' texture names to it. It works by checking the filename of the floor you're walking on and playing the sound you designate for it in caza_def.acs. I'm adding this stuff to the last official release, and then I'll quickly test it on Strange Aeons and catbox it.

The soundtrack, the sound design, the gun variety, the levels, the soundtrack, the movement (actual strafe jumping and nade/rocket jumping compared to games like D*SK which are just JUMP TO MOVE FAST).
Doom is often given this title but I would say that almost every FPS game made today shares the DNA of papa Quake (literally, in Call of Duty's case) and it's worth as much of a playthrough for a gamer of any age as Mario is to platformers.

To expand, some wads with a lot of geometry have frame dips to 150 or so on gz, but the same on dsda will be like 5000 fps. I didn't buy a pulsar monitor to play a game at 150 fps. Plus dsda feels more responsive, and has only the options you need. Also watching demos helps with strategy and is more fun to watch than a blurry youtube video.

Fresh Supply has an option to enable this, called Sound Velocity. I assume it's still there in Refreshed Supply.

This is a misrepresentation. ENDOOM is a DOS text screen screendump. The "feature" only "existed" in the pure DOS environment doom2.exe ran in. In newer platforms DOS text screens had to be emulated, and the code to do that -- Fraggle's libtextscreen -- is a non-trivial dependency.
