has anyone tried using AI to security audit doom and quake's source code? be pretty cool if they were was networking exploit connecting to a malicious server or ways to load malware into a wad/pak that went under the radar all these decades
>>12599819I don't know about Doom, but Quake 2 definitely has security issues since it doesn't run game code on a virtual machine like Quakes 1 and 3.
>>12599819Why would you need AI for that?
I like Doom, in moderation.
>>12599689doom is a pretty cool guy, eh kills demons and doesnt afraid of anything
>>12599849My least favorite part is the weapon sprites. Uncentered weapons are more difficult to aim with.
>>12600108>that tiny little waist
>>12600157Doomguy tummy is best tummy
>Go down a shaft>See thisWhat do?
>>12600108I like Quake 3's take on Doomguy's personality. He's a schizo. A very determined, smart and dangerous one.
Oh. I see...
>>12600515He's just like me!Apart from being smart, determined, and dangerous,.
I get this is mostly a PC thread, but what's the best shooter on ps1? I've been playing the fuck out of powerslave after remembering my older brother playing it back in the day.
>>12600557>PCIt's called a micro, you stupid millenial.
>>12600557The PS1 Dooms are worth a shot if you haven't tried them yet. So is the PS1 version of Quake 2. Alien Resurrection is also pretty interesting. The Medal of Honor games are also pretty fun for the time, pretty straightforward with their gameplay.
I was only kidding.
>>12600557Lifeforce Tenkajk it's dogshit lmao
Sup /Doom/, I've been out of the loop for a few years, did 94 Protons get finished yet?
>>12600594>94 ProtonsWhoa, 94 get.
I recently switched on direct aim in Nugget & GZ + other source ports. Should I be sticking to automatic for vanilla cause this feels more than a bit busted even with default weapons - everything except SSG feels like a sniper rifle now in comparison to what it was.
>>12600608Do whatever you want.Freeaim allows you to snipe, but requires you to aim during more hectic fights instead just holding mouse button and focus on dodging.
>>12600608Most levels aren't designed for it but at least you won't be able to sequence-break like a jumper or a croucher could. It's still cheating but a milder form (but still cheating).
>>12599645Enigmatic Worlds releasedhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2558730/Enigmatic_Worlds/
>>12600585lmaoCould you imagine?>>12600608Vanilla really isn't balanced for it, but with GzD just do whatever you feel like.
>>12600650>paid GZDoom wad>doesn't seem to do anything special>paid wadShill me your game, anon. Why would anyone pay for this when Ashes is free?
>>12600650I didn't know he was making his own game, this is real neat.
>>12600660It's highly unlikely that developer posts here, it's the same one who does ModOhFun and some other stuff.
>>12599645>Eye JuiceNgl I'd kinda fill this they/them whatever cute MC.
anyone here played Skilander? It's on Build engine apparently, free game on Steam
>>12600709>anyone here played this obscure mod/game that no one has ever heard about before????If I had a dollar for every post like this.
>>12600719Then what the fuck is this general for then, Doom? Boring.
>>12600660Not him but it's just a weird little game, it does have some cool stuff to it like the mask enemies can attach themselves to the pinky demon-like monsters and they turn into a particularly dangerous monster. It's kinda neat, and I'm happy for the dev, though I personally don't think this is news worthy.
>>12600746>It's kinda neat, and I'm happy for the dev, though I personally don't think this is news worthy. What would make something like Eye-Juice more news worthy?
>>12600752I guess because that one's free, though it's not like we put every single new WAD on the news ticker.
>>12600746>though I personally don't think this is news worthy.Every other commercial Doom engine game has gone on there, it's probably no less bad than Rekkr or Supplice.
>>12600757True. Maybe I'm just being cynical then.
>>12600709Looks like a drug trip and a half, neat.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUoR2D_yx6w
>>12600763holy soul overloadI gotta play this when I get some free time
>>12600746>>12600752>>12600756>>12600757>>12600760Recently I have been newsposting every wad release that looks even halfway interesting and/or worth discussing, I am surprised no-one has complained much
>>12600770It's giving me almost Cyberunner vibes of turning it into a high speed movement game.>>12600773There's always that one person who hates knowing things exist unless they're already massively popular.
>>12600734My problem is the number of times someone's come into this thread and shilled a random mod by starting off with "HaS aNyOnE pLaYeD tHiS!!??!??"If you wanna shill your mod, then shill your mod, but at least be honest about it. Don't sit there and pretend to be some rando who found a diamond in the rough.
>>12600773I kinda noticed when baking. Not that bad in itself, though a brief descriptor (format, game, length, etc) would probably help make the items stand out better when posting them.Space is limited though, so with many items at once, even just writing "32 map Boom set" adds up a lot. I always try to trim any of the URLs when possible (just thread numbers without the rubric, etc), to conserve the space. Not sure I really have one opinion over the other on this one.
>>12600797whenever I'm here to shill something, I reply to newspost. With Skilander I am just asking around since it's not mine project. I get that >"HaS aNyOnE pLaYeD tHiS!!??!??" can get annoying for easily triggered anons like you but it's a decent conversation starter.
>>12599849I was thinking it'd be good with Treasure Tech, when that's updated with its own enemy sprites.
>>12600709>The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:>Some of the assets in the game are not generated with an AI.
>>12600810Just like uploading Slige levels.
>>12600805>can get annoying for easily triggered anons like you but it's a decent conversation starter. It is just a basic fucking question, and a fair few anons round here do go looking for obscure stuff instead of just playing whatever is on the front page of Doomworld.
I DID, ANONSI BREEK MAPI AM WINNIR
It's been 30 years. Stop playing DOOM. Go play something else.
>>12600858No fuck off.
>>12600858Ok.
>>12600867Lol. Also neat HUD.
>>12600810that's a shame
>>12600867>>12600859Look I am even going to recommend game you have not played. Is not DOOM but it is close.
>>12600868Should be this one, it is pretty fucking cool.https://www.mediafire.com/file/y3d7bc08vqjmfj6/CRT_HUD.pk3/file
>>12600679
>>12600878HOLY FUCK I dont think I can play that the guy on the cover looks WAY too scary
>>12600935He just got a bad haircut, don't hold it against him
>>12600810Dropped.
>>12600009it's been all over the news ai is outperforming humans in discovering vulnerabilities, finding exploits in Linux that have gone unpatched for 10+ years
>>12600998Doesn't that need the heavy-duty security models that the companies are keeping away from the public so faggots don't instantly use them to cause major chaos?
>>12600998That sounds like one of those stealth marketing things proompt devs say on Xitter to try to garner interest from investors, where they "warn" of some dystopian and immoral bullshit to get outrage clicks, but which is actually a veiled promise towards inhuman ghouls who would really like to profit from such thing, and in actuality isn't really possible for the dev to deliver on.
>>12599641Eternity update?
>>12601262Mouse still sucks.
>>12600940Fuck YOU, that's a badass haircut.
Is it just me or is Doomguy kinda hot?
>>12600878>entirely fails to capture the atmosphere of Doom and compensates by dumping monsters on youThese imitators never understand the greatness of the original.
>>12600660>Why would anyone pay for this when Ashes is free?Because I really want a new Ferrari :^)
>>12600843What's that from?
>>12601323Why? Have you SEEN their latest model? They're fucking done.
>>12600660Ashes is really this generation BD.
>>12601413That can't be right because one couldn't avoid people going on about Brutal Doom, it seemed impossible to remain ignorant of it unless ceasing to read any Doom websites at all. But I have no idea what Ashes even is, I always just think of Ashen Garden by Skepticist
>>12601441Ashes is constantly shilled, what are you talking about?
>>12601446Well I'm not seeing it. It hasn't got through my brain's selective interest filter. I'm vaguely aware there's this thing called "Ashes" but my brain just glosses over it when it is mentioned because I have no idea what it is and haven't cared to look into it.
>>12601454How dare you not play the heckin ludokino for Doomino?
>>12601413No it isn't.>>12601446Ashes gets talked about positively in circles where people actually play .wads, but isn't ever talked about otherwise.Brutal Doom meanwhile was inescapable in any context of Doom. For both Unity Doom and KEXDoom, you had Brazilian 12 year olds begging Bethesda to add Brutal Doom to them.
>>12601413It 100% is not. You don't get people bitching about how things aren't Ashes compatible.>>12601441It's a Fallout and Stalker-inspired TC within the GZDoom engine, and it also has weapon and enemy-only sub-mods to play on any Doom wad of your choosing. It's pretty neat. I like it quite a bit.Pictured: Ashes Weapons and Ashes Monsters on Grime.
>>12601483>Ashes gets talked about positively in circles where people actually play .wads, but isn't ever talked about otherwise. It got something of a bump when it was shoved on GOG but it was nowhere near the myhouse bandwagon.
>>12601454It's some kind of TC for GzD/UzD which is really well made. I played the "vaccinated" version of the original with a mod once, so I didn't experience its actual gameplay, but I did find the level design and visual design to be quite good.
>>12601403Doesn't matter, I'm just going to have a peasant drive it right off my new solid gold yacht, while I smoke cigars rolled from hundred dollar bills. I have to keep buying more of those yachts because they won't stop sinking for some inexplicable reason.
>>12601485Myhouse is far closer to BD in that it was briefly very overexposed, but most of that overexposure lived in the streaming and videoessayist circuit, so once it had done its rounds there the exposure fell off.Myhouse isn't widely talked about today because there's nothing left to talk about.Ashes has a broader appeal to the classic Doom audience, and occasionally sees new installments and additions, so there's more reason for people to speak of it.
>>12601498>I have to keep buying more of those yachts because they won't stop sinking for some inexplicable reason.Lmao I wonder what that could be.
>>12601413>>12601484>It 100% is not. You don't get people bitching about how things aren't Ashes compatible. If anything, I’d think Hideous Destructor is closer to being “the next BD” due to its rise in popularity. You still won’t see many people complaining about its “technical” compatibility, though.
>>12601510Is HDest really approaching BD popularity?
>>12601514I pretty certain no Doom (any old shooter (before Half-Life because it has CS)) content ever approached BD in terms of popularity + longevity, not even close.
>>12601514Not that anon but when I was still using Discord it got so bad on some servers I was on that they had to set up containment channels to keep that shit from being spammed everywhere else. It's not got as wide an appeal but at least some of the people into it are obsessive as fuck about it, so I guess it's more like Legendary Complex Clusterfuck Super Turbo Mega Bollocks edition.
>>12601514Nah. For a bit, it was fairly popular here, but it's generally too hard of a sell to non-/k/ types, and even among those circles you'd find most would still prefer just regular Doom to it.You can kind of liken it to old fashioned flight sims which come with a manual you're expected to read first, and you're shit out of luck if you don't.It has its following, an earned one, but it's a fairly niche interest.
>>12601516Romero played myhouse, that means normies know about it. BD is niche
>>12601545Some washed out 90s developer didn't make them know about it, it was because all of their favorite parasocial relationship streamers got right on that bandwagon.
>>12601548>Some washed out 90s developer didn't make them know about itRomero is the normie
>>12601548All the "bro this is literally the doom engine this is witchcraft" shit drove me nuts
>>12601545>normalfags somehow never hear about myhouse even though every single faggot streamer and their dog played it>but somehow the same normalfags know who Romero is, so now they know what myhouse is thanks to himHow do you even come up with this shit. Also that's exactly why I said +longevity, people barely care about myhouse already, especially golden fish adhd zoomers who are the sole reason it's so abnormally popular.
>>12601545Total Biscuit played BD, that means normies know about it. He didn't play Myhouse because he's dead lol. So cancer made it niche
>>12601556>golden fishWhat native language does this inadvertently reveal?
>>12601504I'm sure the problem will go away when I throw enough money at it. That's how I solve all of my problems!
>>12601553Also the myhouse made Doom modern and saved it from being irrelevant shit.
>>12601570classic
>>12601583>my extensive collection of reaction images will save me from being mocked by my genetic and cultural superiors on whose website I do not and have never belonged
>>12601602You aren't superior to anyone in any respect, lol.
>>12601553Nobody is making you watch those cretins.
>>12601545Are you fucking retarded?
>>12601556I don't know if I'm stupid or just sleep deprived, but what DID you mean by "golden fish" Anon?
>>12601545>BD is niche
>>12601640For a very long time it was believed that goldfish memory span is like 3 seconds. It's a common(?) phrase.
>>12601574I heard there's some desert tribe that is very good at making gold lighter. Maybe you could recruit them to help you float your yacht.
>>12601556This, all he's done lately is Sigil and Sigil 2 which nomies wouldn't know or care about, and his now-fucked company put out some nu-xcom-alike which was more his wife's game. Dude's not relevant to much of anything these days.
>>12601654Ooh fuck right. Yeah okay that makes sense now, though people usually say memory of a goldfish rather than "golden fish"Fucked up mutations of phrases are funny, but they're kind of a diamond dozen at this point.
>>12601663>tfw you've been pronouncing "sigil" wrong for yearsGlad I never have to say it out loud to people, that could have been embarrassing.
>>12601560That's actually how I got back into Doom, from there to DemonSteele and GMOTA and other stuff.
>>12601670That was my point--the word for "goldfish" in this intellectually inferior colonial's coarse heathen native tongue translates literally as "golden fish" and he is too stupid to know the proper King's English because he is an ignorant, boorish colonial foreign devil whose education is our burden.
>>12601686It's a burden I will carry then.
>>12601684Which is perfectly fine, even a lot of people making mods these days got their start with fucking about with BD.Hell even BD is fine these days, some people are just carrying around bitterness and shit form a decade old drama that's long since been moved on from by the people involved.
Dang for a console fps this is bretty gud
crashsite quake2 - decent small 4 map unit nice secrets
>>12601545Every major gaming magazine did articles about BD 15 years ago. BD opened floodgates that expanded Doom communities with annoying kids back then. It might be niche now but it was the most popular and mainstream point back then. To the point that people who didn't even know what mods were played it.
Apparently the Map Center people are trying to bug fix and update the Quake 2 25th Anniversary Collaborative UNIT for the Kex release and are looking for feedback and suggestions on D*scord.I remember some guys posting here were involved with that so maybe it's of interest.
>>12601961>Every major gaming magazine did articles about BD 15 years ago.Who the fuck was buying and reading gaming magazines in 2011?
>>12601545Not only did he play it, he was given foreword that an update was coming so he did an early stream of it before anyone had even realized it was updated.
>>12601995An update that had so little attention paid to it, it spent months not being noticed that it'd been updated.
>>12602002I think it took around a week or thereabouts. Not that difficult to notice with it being on Google Drive and all. You might be thinking of a different update.
>>12601972Normies lol
>>12602047They got all their gaming shit from Youtube/Twitch back then, and now Tiktok.
>>12601972Every major gaming magazine had a web edition by then, genius.
please recommend some rpg-ish mod for uzdoom that I can replay original levels with.
>>12602079Depending on what sort of experience you're after there's Wrath of Cronos, Walpurgis, Lithium, DRLA, Doom RPG, Doom EXP, Heretical Doom.
>>12602086sweet, thanks!
>>12601972You'd be very surprised, it was a different world in 2011.
>>12600818>literally best gameplay probably getting player>infight occasionally replacing nope>anon around always yeah>kinda maybe weapons
Oh my fuck, finally got that fan replaced, once I'm home I'll be balls deep in Doom Builder and Judas Priest albums, just like god intended.
>>12602114Exciting! What are you going to work on first?
>>12602251Let's hope it's the Eternity project. ;-)
>>12601397Havoc in Creation.
>>12601257Not really, but if you're paying to use someone else's hardware, you're gonna be spending lots and lots of money, just like anything AI related that's at least semi-useful nowadays. And as anon said, those exploits are all overblown shit that require local access or are buried into some kernel module nobody uses in well over a decade.
>>12602345A fair number have hallucinated vulnerabilities too, they still push that shit as a service by trying to scare fuckers into paying for using them to "secure" their crap.
