I like platformers, not boring ass RPG anime bullshit I am a SNES kid, but NES has more good Megaman games, more good Mario games, more good Contra games, more good Castlevania games. NES has Ninja Gaiden, which SNES did get, but as really terrible ports rather late in the console's lifetime. NES has more hidden gem platformers like Vice Project Doom and others.
SNES has some classics that blow anything on the NES or Genesis out of the water, but once you get past those, the library is pretty shallow.

>Thing better than other thing
Fuck off

The Famicom was known for its RPGs too

Sorry but the vast majority of 3rd generation action games SUCKED because development still suffered from that quarter-feeder mentality.

ok snoy

Get gud, zoomie

hi auster

I like both consoles, but if I were forced to play one random videogame, no other details given, from either the NES library or the SNES library, I would absolutely pick the SNES. Even bad SNES games tend to at least be decent looking, and/or have a decent soundtrack. There are more NES games which play poorly/are boring, and also have crappy low effort graphics and beepboop music. Just like if I were given the same choice between random 2600 and random NES, I'd favor the NES, because at least there's a much better chance of winding up with a game where things look and sound like something and feature more than 2 minutes of novel gameplay.

NES games are basically just atari shit
SNES games are basically just NES shit
It's all the same quarter muncher garbage except for the JRPGs.
>>
RPGs were better on the NES too, SNES is where JRPGs started becoming A button mashing movies
>>
>>12608971
Unironically this, the so called Q.O.L features they added in later generations made the gameplay shallow.
>>
I was thinking about this recently and came to the conclusion, at least for me, that if I compare my top say 3-5 NES vs SNES games, NES wins, but if it's say top 10-20 NES vs SNES games, then SNES wins, but once you get past that it's back to NES winning. For me NES has the better GOATs and the better hidden gems (also the bad games are more fun as they are at least funny) but SNES has the better high tier games.

can you make your fucking mind up? you and OP are talking total jibberish
>umm NES better but SNES has better games actually but still NES better

The SNES had some of the very best games ever, but the entire library is not as consistent as the NES's

I think both are good, but my heart leans ever so slightly to the NES because it contains kino

Yeah no
>>

They are side scrolling games but not really platformers. At most you can say they have platforming sections. SNES has better platformers: Super Mario World 1 and 2, DKC trilogy, a better Kirby game. As far as pure platformer go the NES has the Super Mario trilogy, Kirby and uhhhh uhhhh Kid Icarus and Ice Climbers
>>
>>12608447
platformers are dogshit memoslop unlike turn based RPGs.
>>
NES J-RPG are underrated

In the SNES era we gained some things ( better story, more content)but also lost many things (non linearity, exploration, difficulty)

not a huge loss. ill take games being fun rather than difficult.

My nigger, the question was "would you rather play nes or snes" and the anon answered. If you don't like his answer then just repeat that you like the nes in the mirror instead of posting on here since you clearly don't want anyone else to give their opinion.
>>
There is nothing on SNES to compare to the fluid and fast gameplay of Ninja Gaiden. Best they could do is a shitty port.
>>
>>12608447
>I like platformers
Then you're in luck. SNES has the greatest platformers of all time.
>>
>>12611042
all it has is baby shit afaik

No platformer on NES can come close to even DKC3, much less 1 or 2. Or SMW2, or MMX.
>>
>>12610917
Seriously how do you play that?
it requires a perfect precision
>>
>>12611047
Mario Bros 3 is the best 2D Mario

One of the worst "games" I've ever played in my life.

Fortunately it's on SNES then

Nes is a man's console, a white man's console. snezzz is when games started pandering to kids and females with faggoty cutscenes and casualifised goyslop
>>
I am trying to get into NES library as i wasnt around for it. these are the games Ive played and liked so far, please reccomend more. I think my absolute favorites so far are smb, metroid, punch out and castlevania 3.

>smb
>smb3
>castlevania
>castlevania 3
>metroid
>the legend of zelda
>kid dracula
>mother
>final fantasy
>dragon quest
>dragon quest 3
>shinsenden
>sweet home
>bio miracle baby uppa
>kirby's adventure
>layla
>kid icarus
>little samson
>megami tensei 2
>punch out
>ninja gaiden
>gimmick (fuck this one is hard as balls)

ive really, really, really enjoyed my time with the system so far. starting to think it might be superior to SNES, the first party games definitely are at least.

Speaking of the NES, there was an anon here who was going through every Famicom RPG but i have not seen him posting in a long time, is he still around or what?

I loved reading his blogs and the mosaics he would make

Vice: Project Doom
Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom
Recca
Faxanadu
New Ghostbusters II
Bucky O'Hare

Wacky Races is a fun, fairly easy (outside of a few bosses) platformer that you should be able to get through pretty quickly.
>>
>>12611492
>Faxanadu
This game is incredible and very underrated.
>>
Between failing to live up to the NES, and struggling to compete with the superior Mega Drive, the SNES was just a big disappointment. Most people who were around back then and weren't toddlers, female, or gay, felt the same.
>>
>>12612117
It was awesome if you are into RPGs and puzzle games
>>
>>12612117
>struggling to compete with the superior Mega Drive
Delusional
>>
>>12612407
He'd have had a point if he said Genesis, but Super Famicom absolutely dominated Japan so hard that it took a whole decade to finally be discontinued.
>>
>>12611239
>superior to SNES

I’ve found this to be true in the amount or rather volume of really fun games. I’m playing Taro’s Quest (Jajamaro-something in Japanese) and it’s such a cute ninja rpg with hilarious engrish.

Vice Project Doom and Bionic Commando (with the remove censorship hack) are really good too.

And that goofy space shooter Gun-Nac, the really cool martial arts but swords and sorcery game Kickmaster, and the kung fu game Phantom Fighter.

These are the games to play when you wake up on a Saturday and just want happiness.

And the Konami rpg Lagrange Point. It’s on par or better than The Phantasy Star games.
