Currently, what's the best way to play emulated shmups? Vanilla MAME, RetroArch with RunAhead or Shmupmame 5?
Why does no zip for Radiant Silvergun work on retroarch? Asking for a friend.
>>12628829Why are you making threads about these games? are you baiting? are you trying to falseflag? force a consensus? whats your motivation?
>>12628829Mame32
>>12628856Its a bullet hell shmup thread, do you even need to ask?
>>12628829>Shmupmame 5This one now. Closest you can get to real hardware timing, lag, slowdown, etc.
>>12628860this, it comes with extra support for cave games as well like starting from second loops
The only way to play SHMUPS like dondonpachi is either the remastered versions on your cellphone or on the actual original hardware itself. Any other way like mouse and keyboard or emulator is just so horrendously bad and hard to set up.

>>12629000>download mame>download romset>set controls>play gameare you 12? are you scared of .zip and .exe files?
>>12628829I just do retroarch with 2 frames runahead and call it a day>>12628839the zip must match your emulator. fbneo romset is different from mame romset. also radiant silvergun is too hard for your first shmup
>>12628839do you have the stv bios? i could only get it to kind of work with mame 2010 i think but the saturn version is an exact port of the arcade so I don't really see the point in trying to play it on mame
>>12629071>download shadps4>download DDP DOJ>play
>>12629000Dodonpachi works perfectly fine on mame
>>12628829>what's the best way to play emulated shmups? The absolute best is Groovymame + 15khz CRT.That's beyond most people so retroarch + 500hz OLED + CRT Beam shader would be the next best thing.>>12629000>hard to set up.You wouldn't survive in the wild, zoomie.
>>12630657>GroovymameWe use MiSTer these days.
>>12628829FinalBurn Neo but nobody wants to admit how much better than MAME it is.
>>12629000The remasters have the problem of locking to 60 fps which is slightly off from the original which makes the screen tear which does not happen with a properly setup emulator while using freesync and original refresh rate. Also why is Mushi 1 gb on steam, but on mame its like 30 mb?
