>replay childhood game as an adult >it's shitWhat's her name?
Bugs Bunny Birthday BlowoutNo I'm just kidding it's still good. Screw nintendo nerd.
>Maximum Carnage>shitif anything this game got better with time
>>12723094I could never beat the credits fight at the end and thought it was legit impossible. The rest of the game wasn't anywhere near that hard so it felt like a slap in the face, like "You think you're beating this game? No, fuck you, kid." It still angers me to this day.
>>12723141Credits fight? I haven't played/beaten the game since around the time it came out in the 90s so I don't remember this. Was there a secret boss battle or something?
>>12723206Fuck I think I just reality shifted. Looks like it's just a brief false credits screen now. Oh well.
>>12723206>>12723240Ok this must be what I was remembering. It's been 38 years since 1994 so my memory must be foggy, as opposed to the universe-wide implications of reality shifting being real.https://youtu.be/b4Li0uOSR58?t=3515It says "The End..." and rolls the credits on the next screen then there's a Carnage fight. But I think the one I was remembering was the actual final Carnage fight which happens a bit after that. I could never beat that shit.
I don't have this problem. I've always had taste, knew when a game was shit, and I've always had access to so many games I wasn't "forced" to play a shit one.
>>12723457you sound like a massive faggot who sucks dick
We JUST had this thread. Are you trying to start a trend?>>12704674>>12704674>>12704674
>>12723094>maximum carnageit's pretty playable as far as beat 'em ups go, the genre is just bad in general though
>>12723563He perfected this thread template on /tv/ and is now expanding his operation into /vr/
>>12723094this is usually the time when you post contrarian shit. like a list of good games, stuff like chrono trigger, diablo 2, final fantasy 7, yoshis island, doom 2 etc. I wont bother this time just assume I did so we can go into the next phase of "this"
>>12723094That game's great though. Damn, it sucks that you're such an unhappy loser. Don't you have any friends you can talk to?
Well I was kind of sad when I managed to 100% this game in a single session (when I was a kid I got stuck on the final tier of tracks).Still fun, though.
People actually like Maximum Carnage? It was pretty shitty for a beat em up, as expected of a western (specifically british) dev. If this is good what's an actual quality game like Streets of Rage, a divine artifact that the human mind can't even begin to comprehend?
My brother and I each bought a copy of this game when we were hanging out for the summer, he got the SNES version and I foolishly got the Genesis one.
>>12723125Not even. It's pretty bland. It's cinematic, I'll give it that. But it really offers nothing in terms of gameplay though. I don't know what someone gets out of playing it unless they're a die hard spider-man fan.
>>12723094>good thing bad, but you have to play along this timeNo I don't. This is a bad thread. You can make good threads instead. It's an option.
>>12723275>It's been 38 years since 1994More like 32 years. But yes, i remember after the credits of maximum carnaged, there were a last fight against carnage. It was very easy because carnage keeps spamming the same attack again and again, so you can predict when attack.
>>12723964sweet, you got the better version>>12723978>offers nothing in terms of gameplay thoughThat's beat em ups in a nutshell, at least Maximum Carnage kept your attention throughout with character switching, tons of cameos, comic book story, set pieces and stage variety. The largest criticisms in the day were the lack of 2 player support.
Would you suck on Carnage's maximum?
>>12724189The dogshit GEMS soundtrack and audio samples would beg to differ
>>12724167Well consider yourself a pro because literally everyone else who got to that fight on forums and in videos have agreed it's stupidly hard. And as a kid, attacking him for 10 minutes straight with his health bar not going down at all, it was easy to think he couldn't actually be beaten. But in hindsight it was very considerate of them to put the rental difficulty at the very end of the game so you could at least play through most of it before returning it and never playing it again.
Even in 1994 when I was a teenager, I knew that Maximum Carnage was mid tier... don't get me wrong... one of LJN's better games, which is not saying much given that LJN has always been on the bottom tier of game publishing. I would say that this and Alien 3 on the SNES were their two best 16 bit games. But neither really blew me away. I like the Green Jelly SNES soundtrack... remember Green Jelly the band? No? OK. By SNES beat 'em up standards, it would rank it below Turtles in Time, Final Fighter 1, 2 and 3, Batman Returns, Knights of the Round, and Sonic Blastman II... It was OK.
It's kind of lame how they make you fight the same bosses over and over again, in group fights where they take a few hits and flee. I know they wanted to be faithful to the comic books storyline, but that was a stupid way to do it. Just have normal boss fights
>>12724707It's an okay game. I would rank it below Rushing Beat III and slightly above Gourmet Warriors,Also ZVitor made a remake of it
>>12724717I kinda liked it, made it more cinematic in a simple way
>>12724223The hard rock soundtrack is better suited to the GEMS sound driver than the trumpet farts of the SNES
>>12724707>remember Green Jelly the band?I remember the 3 little pigs music video, which was probably the only reason anyone ever listened to or noticed them for any reason.
>>12723094I was mesmerized by Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety's reviews in magazines, drew the characters on my notebooks, but never got to play them in the 90s, nor thrift them later in the 2000s
>>12723116Crazy Castle is good too. AVGN and Mike are just too impatient for games like that.
>>12724707>>12724837yeah my friend had the vhs tape. remember they were originally called green jell-o before they had to change
>play Maximum Carnage>nothing amazing, but OK beat-em-up that took good advantage of the license with comic book panels between levels>hear Separation Anxiety is the upgraded sequel>try it out>horrible 'upgraded' art style that uses more colors but looks worse than the comic-book look of the first game>they don't bother with comic panels between levels, just fucking textI didn't play more than two levels before I didn't want to touch it anymore.
>>12725262I like the prerendered backgrounds
>>12724825Sculptured Software sucked ass at using Genesis sound drivers.
>>12723094I'd rather slog through Maximum Carnage than the three hour ordeal (and that's if you get super lucky and one of the later boss fights doesn't cause the game to crash) that is 'The Tick'.
>>12724825>SNES>trumpet fartsthat's genesis thoughever
>>12723094
>>12723094Only thing I could think of is flash games. Every real game I had since day one was great.
>>12725164>yeah my friend had the vhs tape. remember they were originally called green jell-o before they had to changeI forgot they were called Green Jell-O before they were forced to changed their names because of the Kraft enforcing their Jell-O trademark. I think my sister had their Green Jell-O album.
>>12724207Sure, at the minimum.
>>12723094It feels good to punch people, especially thanks to the SFX, that's what I want from a beat 'em up.
This whole series.
>>12723662Nothing like 240x200 windows at 10 fps huh. This shit was a joke
>>12723094The most brutal replay I had was Goldeneye 64. I played it a ton at like 15 and loved it, but those controls absolutely do not hold up
>>12724707>Alien 3 on the SNESI played the shit out of this one summer. I miss those days bros.
