Should have entered the hobby earlier. Now you'll never afford any retro stuff.
>>
your other thread is still up, btw

Those are 500 at most, even from fucker vendors at game show that sell at/above ebay price.
>>
Imagine buying a vectrex in 2026
Those monitors are probably on their last legs
>>
>>12772115
those CRTs will outlast you.
>>
>>12772117
Maybe if you dont use it.
CRTs are consumable and the more you use them the worse the tube becomes
>>
Can we permab& this faggot pls

They're replaceable.
>>
>>12772131
Thats good if they are readily available.
I always wanted a vectrex because I want to touch the controller. the metal joystick looks like it feels nice. the buttons too.
>>
>>12772043
I had a Vectrex with over a dozen games. My mom gave it to my cousin when I was away at school.

Moderation? we don't do that in post-hack 4chan.

>had a Vectrex with over a dozen games. My mom gave it to my cousin when I was away at school.

a tale as old as time
>hee hee hes off to school he wont care about these silly toys anymore
>>
>>12772147
I got mine for free from a friend of my mom, probably from her son.
>>
>>12772174
gib it back!
>>
>>12772043
imagine paying more than $50 for the novelty console with nothing but mid-at-best games
>>
>>12772205
Only dumbasses pay that much for a Saturn.
>>
>>12772205
Good thing my N64 was only $15
>>
>>12772115
It's possible to convert a black and white raster-based CRT to a vector-based CRT without much effort or cost. It's something an experienced electrical engineer can do.
>>
>>12772043
Unsold ebay prices mean nothing. I could list a paper towel for $50,000. Doesn't mean it's worth that much.
>>
At the end of the day, retro was the games we collected along the way
>>
>>1277226
Tell em
>>
>>12772043
i don't want that

This. There are posts for $250 USD for a genisis, shit model in shit condition, with a handful of shit games. Why, because someone sold a tower of power with a desirable model and a handful of decent games and peripherals. These people keep reposting and maybe they knock $50 off each time.

My favorite was someone had 0 sells and they put up a Dreamcast, desirable model, with every 2k game, controllers and a VMU for 300 buy it now 600. No one touched it I watched it. Then he reput it up for $40 and it ended at 1AM EST. I got up at 1am and said fuck it, and bid. I won, I paid, 2 weeks later the seller said he was out of stock and I got my refund. I turned him in his account disappeared. So there are rarely deals to be had. But most of the time it is knockoff mini consoles NIB for $200 and 0 buyers. It is amazing how much trash is on eBay. Emulation will save you from having your eyes raped by the delusional sellers.

You can still buy the 65c816, just need an fpga for the rest of the parts
>>
you speak of as if it is in a vacuum

Vectrex has like what, 3 worthwhile games tops? Same with Virtualboy. Don't feel any regrets not getting those dust collecting devices when they were cheaper.
>>
>>12772470
Most of the virtual boy games are worthwhile. There's only like 2 that are genuinely bad.
>>
>>12772481
I'll take your word for it. One day I'll play through the entire catalog on my 3DS and confirm
>>
>>12772131
Why is this image making me horny? Wtf.
>>
I would pay that for a Vectrex if it was a japanese version brand spanking new in the box
Otherwise... i give you tree fiddy
>>
>>12772043
That appears to be a US GCE Vectrex. A Japanese one should be Bandai branded and have green accents (I think Milton Bradley blue for Euro). The housing and cost of living crisis is taking its toll. I already could not afford much past the bills, much less retro stuff, so I would be willing to let go of my Vectrex as well for that month of rent relief.
>>
>>12772952
Aren't you the marble countertop fag? You own literally every game under the sun, how the fuck are you renting?
>>
>>12772043
Lol no one's buying that shit, right?
>>
>>12773364
Definitely not. They go for $500-600 pretty regularly.
>>
>>12773116
I think he plants seeds of lies to not identify himself

>cant be X because he said he rents and is broke!

Wake me up when it runs TRUXTON

In 2026? Pffft. Good luck finding a new CRT tube with the exact same size and shape as the original.

Not even close. It just looks like it but it's just a couple games put in one pic to look like a lot. I lack the intelligence and funding, so my employment opportunities are limited and became left behind in a cruel economy. The cost of gas, food, utilities, vehicle maintenance, required insurance, and especially housing is ever-rising because for some unknown reason to me housing prices is always going up and away from my income bracket, so renting is the only option feasible.
>>
>>12772131
Of all the retro vidya parts that could be replaced this is the absolute last one I'd think was still available. Amazing.
>>
>>12775284
sorry mate ;_;7
if i had lots of money money i'd buy houses in your area and paint them pink

It's a 4:3 screen on it's side
Our eyes tend to compress things horizontally, which is why 4:3 monitors suddenly seem pretty tall when you put them on their side

Because he is a liar. He works somewhere that involves selling games and hardware so he takes photos with inventory.

That's not marble. It's laminate or linoleum. Marble doesn't have that spotty texture.

The aspect ratio is irrelevant. Tubes aren't all of a uniform design even if they're the same size and aspect ratio. They vary a fair bit in terms of shape, depth and where things like the mounting tabs are placed. You can't just rip any old tube out of something and expect it to fit in a Vectrex chassis. You could start modifying and chopping the thing up to try and make it work, but at that point you should be beaten to death with a claw hammer for your own (and the greater) good.
