What is in your opinion the optimal button configuration and controller?
>>12856349
Attack/accept = the button on left (PS square)Jump/cancel = lower button (X)Ranged attack/magic = top (triangle)Interact/item = right (circle)Dash/dodge = R1Guard = L1Sticks = symmetricalPad = combined buttons (Saturn style)
>>12856349>psx swaps two of their own buttonsJaps really are sadistic.
Don't forget these:Western PS1+2South = YesNorth = NoGameCubeSouth = YesWest = No
>>12856365This controller is so comfy in general. I got some Chinese one for my PC that has this same shape and buttons and it feels better in the hands than any Xbox or Playstation controller I ever handled. I wish I could play everything with it, too bad most games these days require two thumbsticks.
>>12856349I think it's a historic tragedy that Sony switched around the X & O buttons for the Western market. It made perfect sense and was consistent with the SNES and other Nintendo consoles. The fact that they went with the X=accept O=cancel setup globally with the PS5 is even more tragic.
>>12856513You could get one of these, should feel roughly the same and works universally.
>>12856519The buttons are all shifted and the scale also looks off.
>>12856519I have that controller (mine has purple buttons, that's the only difference), and it doesn't. The + pad and face buttons are scooted up in such a way that it's slightly less comfortable than the OG layout, and the way that the shoulder buttons were handled is very uncomfortable. If it was up to me, I'd have made the shoulder buttons be the same size as they are on the SNES controller and put the triggers further back for you to press with your middle fingers like on the RG34XX.
>Push big green button to accept>Push small red button to cancel>Push weird bean buttons for extra stuff (who cares)Literally the best design.
>>12856548>only one shoulder button for some fucking reason>no select button>complete chore to play retro games with because you're always in button remapping hellI was a nintenyearold during the Gamecube's heyday and even I can't defend this shit anymore. It's a controller that's literally only better than the rest when specifically being used for Melee.
>>12856567>only one shoulder button for some fucking reasonIt has 2 shoulder buttons and one extra trigger button.>no select buttonbloat>complete chore to play retro games with because you're always in button remapping hellPlaying retro games shouldn't be the point of a new console. At least it wasn't back then.
>>12856582>At least it wasn't back thenThe GBA's library would like to have a word.
>>>/v/748965016
>>12856529>Accept>Back>Correctmakes sense.
>>12856349South and East = both can be acceptNorth and West = both are cancel
>>12856529There's the good shit.
>>12856365Now try to press Y and A at the same time.
>>12856519>busted d-padI seriously hope you don't shill 8shitdo without getting paid, Anon.
>>12856365Very good, but needs the concave X and Y to be perfect
As long as there's a good d-pad (with no stupid gap in the middle of it) in a comfortable position, I'm satisfied.
>>12856932I've read good things about it, kind of surprised that folks here dislike it honestly but hey I don't own this particular one I was just aware of it being the snes controller with dual analogs.
>>12856349they are all the same button configuration.
>>12856835I used to that in Mega Man X.Dash with A while charging the buster with Y.Nowadays I just remap the dash to R, it's the most sensible approach.
>>12856349This.This unironically feels way better than the diamond layout for games that only use two buttons.
>>12857152We have one or two resident 8bitdo haters, that's all
>X Y axis>Accept and BackThe only one that makes any sense. Anyone who says otherwise is a brandcultist
>>12856349The Nintendo layout rotated 90 degrees to the right is perfect, but nobody uses it. The closest is the GameCube controller.>A button at the most comfortable position (bottom)>B button at the second most comfortable position (left)>X button along the X+ axis (right)>Y button along the Y+ axis (top)
>>12856548Literally the WASD layout.
