He did the thing!
>>12899686Silly question, but did Sandy make any levels for his crypto scam thing? Last thing I heard he was sued for it.
>>12899686
>DoomMore like mood.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raUxT--H-Us&lc=Ugx-ZD0HY5DLVffwxyZ4AaABAgAlready played it, its really good and well put together. 3-5 hours of gameplay worth.
>>12899707Moo'd.
>>12899708>aislopFUCK. OFF. NO, SERIOUSLY, GOFUCKINGAWAY!!!!
>>12899716I guess it'll make Marks NamDoom thing look good if he ever finishes it.
>>12899708Is this the GAMMA of retro FPS?
Hellbabe's been a good time so far.>>12899708What engine is it using?
>>12899727Is it less OP than Stone? I've got back into the habit of vanilla Doom using DSDA and/or Nugget recently, but a fun weapon mod is always a good time.
>>12899671I've tried so many games but I always come back to Doom. It's just so perfect bros. Anyway, playing The Given right now. Any clue what to do here?
>>12899734>Is it less OP than Stone?Considerably less, definitely not vanilla balance but a fair bit lower.Does depend on what port it's in though, it's got some port-specific stuff.
>>12899738>I've tried so many games but I always come back to Doom. It's just so perfect bros.I still think Quake has greater potential with level design. I enjoy exploring a Quake map once the enemies are dead in mods like AD. Doom only really has combat and while I think it's the better game the lack of true 3D is noticeable in the maps.
>>12899652>but less than it would be if the eastern side wasn't full of russiansThey may be the far second only to the japanese in the privilege of sporting anime avatars and not getting dissed for it. When i see some vaguely queer modmaker and learn that he's slav/russian, suddenly my perception does a favorable 180 turn. As example: Eye Juice. No way to explain this phenomenon.>>12899747I got far too used to horizontal aiming, that no other fps now feels as pleasing. Nta.
hey guys, i made a strawpoll about what peripherials you use to play doomhttps://strawpoll.com/6QnMQ42Wanei'm thinking about getting a new mouse but i'm not sure if i should get a wired or wireless onealso curious how many people in this thread don't play with a mouse
>>12899757I was going to say wired mice in this day and age is weird, but there's a touch control option and frankly those people should be sectioned.
>>12899747In terms of gameplay I think the lack of jumping and vertical aiming makes for some great scenarios. Personally I've just never liked Quake but I respect Quake bros too. I too do enjoy exploring maps after beating them though. The last one being Formless Mother (pic rel) for example. Beautiful scenery, even worth noclipping around to see some of the other landscapes.
>>12899747>Doom only really has combat and while I think it's the better game the lack of true 3D is noticeable in the maps.Only the vanilla-based ones. There's some fun ZD/GZD stuff out there that aren't so limited.
>>12899757I'm using tilt controls!
>>12899757My AJAZZ AJ100 has been holding up for the past 4 years as a good wireless mouse though the battery is getting worse.
>>12899757Interesting, voted.>>12899769>wired mouseThey are more reliable, or something. No batteries, low-latency connection (PS/2 port in particular).
>>12899723It's still semi-popular to hate on Mark, but some of the shit he makes is actually cool.
>>12899781that's what i actually meant by touch controli knew you were in here
>>12899787He's been doing a lot better the last few years with a lot of that shit, some people are just stuck on seeing him the way he was and the way he did shit when he was a teenager who accidently got a fuckton of attention.
>>12899772>Formless MotherHow was it? I never played it because it is supposedly really ballbursting.
Keyboard warriors, what's your control scheme?>ESDF move, J+L turn, K shoot, SPACE use>R rockets, T plasma, V bfg
>>12899805Some people were fucking stupid when young. Sometimes I think back to my teens and wish I could reach back in time and chokeslam my young self for being such an asshole.
>>12899805>teenagerDidn't he contribute a map to 200 mins of /vr/ (which later returned in E-Day)?
>>12899816I count myself lucky that I grew up during the time when broadband internet was for rich people and social media was in its infancy, so my cringey misanthropic 16-year-old self has no digital footprint.Sgt Mark's a good dude and very talented. Hope he manages to finish Brutal Fate some day.
>>12899816Basically what being a teenager is for really.>>12899831>Brutal FateProbably just as well he bit off more than he could chew, by the time he's done the faux retro fad will have faded even more so there'll be less competition overall.
>>12899816Same
>>12899814if i remember correctly, when i was a keyboard warrior in the 90s, i used arrows for forward+back+turn, <> for strafing, space for shooting, ctrl for activate, and the numpad for weaponsthen i bought a joystick
>>12899806NTA, but my first impression was of amateur and tasteless. I dipped from the cyberdemon double-whammy room when it became increasingly obvious that author just slapped shit until it kind of worked. It pulls out with tryhard horror aesthetics. There was also some 10x10 knockoff that I no longer remember the name of, likewise the cacoward winner. Gameplay-wise it was even more slapdash.
>>12899557Thanks, it's good to hear you enjoy them.Having a lot of mods I like to look at and pick apart does help, I also took a game design course ages ago. Not sure if that has any bearing on things though.>FerretI'd be surprised if he makes a mod on his own to begin with, he also fell for the phones are better than mid-range computers bait.He does have a few credits, but it's just for shitty music from what I know.>>12899549I think I know that anon, actually. He's fine.I just don't feel like adding reloading would really do much for the rest of the mod.>>12899806NTA, but it's a good challenge in my opinion. If you don't like slaughter or hard WADs I don't think it'll change your opinion, but if you're into either of those you're going to enjoy it.Failing that, it's got some stupendous presentation. I dare say it looks better than Sunder's best.
>>12899856>I'd be surprised if he makes a mod on his own to begin withFar as I can tell he's only done the shitty empty out the floppy disk of midis mod and then fill it with a fuckton of copyrighted mp3s thing.
>>12899856>but if you're into either of those you're going to enjoy itTo each his own. String of enclosed "arena puzzle" rooms, surface-level understanding of monster roles (put as many types as you can, it will be good challenge), no sense for scale and space. That's all a good evidence for me that mapper has very little talent and imagination.Isn't author your friend with whom you collaborated and some?
>>12899686For me it's MIDI Maze
>>12899870Friend is pushing it these days, but yes, I did routinely collaborate with him and provided plenty of music (some bespoke) for his projects prior to this year. I just drifted away from a lot of people and even this general for a good while. For what it's worth, I do like Treehouse's stuff even though I don't necessarily like him as an acquaitance so there's less bias in my opinion than you might assume.>>12899864I think he also made some shitty AI gen version of that, but I might be wrong. It's not like I have a reason to keep tabs on him.
>>12899881Maybe his output has gained finesse days, but my initial impression soured any enthusiasm for it. Without spelling names of the giants, which may come as unfair, I think Paul977 is the kind of newbie who actually did some good challenge stuff. LunchLunch, someone who I've already mentioned and whose whole motto is "imitation as the best kind of flattery", is also strong cross-example.
>>12899757Keyboard warriors, assemble!
>>12899694He wasn't sued, he got a dmca. Last I heard he was working on it, but it's been quiet for a month or so.
Which launcher are you currently using?
>>12899985If you genuinely think he was gonna make new Doom maps, you're as dumb as Sandy. That shit was crypto scam his idiot son got him wrapped up in and the asshole who made the shitcoin already rugpulled it back in August, making Sandy look like a giant moron. He was never gonna make levels for that shit.
>>12899686Dooms multiplayer code wasn't even in 8 months before release. When Sandy joined the company there was no deathmatch or any multiplayer in the game. They were scrambling to get it done just months from release.I'm sure they had cope meetings and second thoughts with no multiplayer as advertised and a looming deadline. 100%
>>12900000The maps were supposedly being made when a new lead took over. I'm not speaking of it being a shit coin or whatever, just that there was supposedly some work done after that rug pull. Not holding my breath, just repeating what was said.
QUAKE LIVE HAS FALLEN!I REPEAT!QUAKE LIVE HAS FALLEN!THEY ABSOLUTELY FUCKED OVER HOW THIS FT SERVER RUNS!10 YEARS AND IT RAN FINE. TROONS GOT IN AND CHANGED EVERYTHING!JOIN THE FUCKING 41% ALREADY AND STOP RUINING MY SHIT!
>>12900019You just know it smell crazy in there.
>>12900006Sandy's the reason why most of Doom 2's maps suck anyways, so I dunno why you'd want him to make more of them.
>>12899997AceCorp Launcher, since ZDL decided to be a FUCKHEAD and start wiping my settings every single time I launched it.
>>12900000I'm the anon who originally asked the question. If Sandy promises, then why wouldn't he deliver this at least? New map would've given us clue about his capabilities, even if it had ended being half-assed effort. Well, it was only a frivolous curiosity of mine. Also, nice quintuples.
>>12900036>If Sandy promises, then why wouldn't he deliver this at least?I guess you're not familiar with his history of unfulfilled Kickstarter projects that've been funded and then dropped. You'd be a fool to trust this man to deliver ANYTHING these days.
>>12900031>ZDL decided to be a FUCKHEAD and start wiping my settings every single time I launched itYeah, that happened to me a few weeks ago and I don't know why, though it's literally the only time it's happened to meI tried AceCorp and while it works well, I feel like it takes longer to launch my sourceports for some reason
>>12899997command line
>>12900019Did they beat your ass?
>>12900070Safe to say he'd not be any of the six with pride flags in the respective top 3s, so the LGBTQs definitely jiggled his ass cheeks until he had to blame it on lag, the sun was in his eyes, the dog fell out the window, Mercury was in retrograde

>>12900081>In a 2025 update, Petersen Games said it had fulfilled 83% of rewards across its projects and that fulfillment of the remainder remained a priority.Trust me, I'm not just parroting shit I saw on a YouTube video. From what I've learned, if you go to the backer comments section of a lot of Sandy's Kickstarter campaigns throughout the last few years, there's a shit-ton of angry people who feel fleeced. One fella I met on a different forum where we were talking about Sandy's crowdfunding chicanery was a backer for one of Sandy's games that was successfully crowdfunded 6 YEARS AGO and still hasn't come out.
When I look at the weapon sprite, I find it horrifying to imagine this purple creature running on its two legs. Also...>Those health bonusesThanks doc.
>>12900050ACL has the same issue, only it happens much less often. Something to do with how Windows kills processes which, in my theory, corrupts the XML write stream. >>12899772I think I'm getting more autistic as I get older, because the further something gets from the stock Doom theme, vanilla decorations take me out of it in a way that vanilla monsters don't.I can't explain why. I just know that stock tree pisses me off. It doesn't matter what, just reskin it with something, anything.
>>12900287Really? I always liked that tree. I wish there was more different but similar ones because it does look silly when there are several in the same spot.
>>12900115I've noticed it doing this after the system's shut down with it still open, kind of assumed it got killed halfway through saving the shit.I just periodically back up the file, saved me the second time in fuck knows how many years of using those launchers that it happened.
>>12900232I sometimes use a controller while playing quake when I'm laying in bed. I will say that the gyro effect on the switch version is kinda goofy and I don't understand how there kids use it to any advantage. What do they know that I don't?
>>12900307Some web article says that you "flick" the right stick for quick camera movements and for the actual precision use gyro instead. Doesn't sound all that crucial for the classic single-player shooters.
>>12900196You should. You can even see in the quote that Romero mentioned, he's talking about coop. They didn't have a hype moment for deathmatch until the networking was in (a month before release)."Once the code was working, we decided to test it. I sat at my computer and waited for the game to start. Suddenly, there was another player on my screen. It was Carmack. We started moving around the level, and then we started shooting at each other. It was an incredible feeling. The adrenaline was pumping, and we were yelling across the office. I shouted, 'This is deathmatch!' The team latched onto the name. It instantly articulated the sinister, survival vibe at the heart of DOOM. We were supposed to be testing the game for bugs, but we couldn't stop playing. We played for hours that first night, completely hooked on the thrill of hunting each other down. We knew right then that multiplayer was going to be a massive part of the game’s success."Right then.

Some guy at Duke4 made multiplayer client playable in browser, no need to download or set up anything. Both DM and coop, works pretty good. Unfortunately there's no people to play with, we had some fun yesterday trying it out but now its dead empty. Worth a newspost?https://dukezone.net/

>>12900493I seem to remember him saying something like that around the dwango days, when online mp really took off.
>>12900581>Circumstances dictated that a small set of content had to be replaced.>Please understand. What was this shit even about?
>>12900630Probably some drama bullshit.
>>12900581>check the Reelism 2 expac trailer>"Unironically great" is one of the blurbs What kind of dipshit review is that, were you expecting garbage?
>>12900637It involved the usual suspects, but I still have no idea what actually happened there.Does anyone still got the 1.1 version? Not 1.1G, and not the ones before it.
>>12900461>Do people here play modern gzdoom games?I played Ashes 2063 and Dead Man Walking, liked them well enough. Gave the sequel a shot and dropped it because I wanted a linear campaign, not the semi-open world thing it had going on.Selaco and Supplice weren't retro or fun enough and they weren't made by people I wanted to support, so I refunded both.Didn't care for the Shrine duology and Vomitoreum is kinda neat, I guess, but I didn't feel the need to go back to it.Didn't care for Morhta.Didn't care for Captain Wayne.Hedon is...fine. I guess. When I see discussion of it here, it usually is earnest for at most 5 posts and the rest of it, if it continues to begin with, is about the protagonist's massive fucking dick. It's kinda telling that the game is so bland people find more to talk about an actual penis that never shows up in-game than the game itself.Washington Prime is overwhelmingly fine. The FMVs and overall concept make it a bit more interesting but I see no reason to buy it.Honestly, the biggest issue with all of these is they're either not fun or there's barely any retro charm to them. To me actually buying them comes down to me knowing who made them personally and wanting to support an aquaintance or friend, and as you might imagine most of my buds are very much content with staying modders instead of developers.I imagine not being a normie or zoomer grants you full immunity to the YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS IS DOOM factor all of these paid total conversions have and implicitly are built around.>divine frequencyMight as well not be retro. I didn't particularly care for it when it was free, I don't think I'll care for it now that it's paid. It does look a mite more interesting than its peers, sorta reminds me of a RPG Maker XP game called Miserere.
>>12900630Em Essex, the creator of Time Tripper, was originally part of Reelism 2's dev team. The Liminal Space map from that wad was adapted into a secret Reelism map, and Essex composed a remix of the title screen for the trailer and the Boss Rush mode. Then at some point, Kinsie and co. found out about SOMETHING Essex did (I don't know exactly what), who decided to replace all of their content. Liminal Space 2 was replaced with the Block Fort map from Reelism 1, the Boss Rush music was replaced with the normal title music, and they had to redo the entire trailer with the non-remixed music.
>>12900647Would you have preferred it to be great, but ironically?
>>12900707Thanks.
>>12900647That particular streamer is known for playing absolute dogshit for content
>>12900704Ashes is one that looks good, and everyone says it's really good, so I should try it out sometime.
>>12900715>will eat shit for moneyThat's literally (and I'm using "literally" word literally, unironically here) every single streamer that ever existed in this universe.
>>12900704>It's kinda telling that the game is so bland people find more to talk about an actual penis that never shows up in-game than the game itself.its the opposite, everyone is obsessed over the dick while the game has none of that and is actually pretty good. Its just the game is a bit more complex than the average fps so those who werent filtered by dick are filtered by its puzzles and level design
>>12900461Not retro.Ashes is great, I've played all but Hard Reset. Very good game.Hedon is amazing, probably my favourite of the bunch. I want to play Selaco and Supplice but I refuse to use Steam so I'm waiting for a GOG release that may never happen.>divine frequencyDoesn't look that interesting to me. I don't mind large open maps, exploration and puzzles and they can be great if done right (see the cute blue lady game), but just the hud of this one makes me not interested. Too many numbers and icons and stuff that just make it look way more complicated than it needs to be for an FPS (if they're even wanting to make it an FPS instead of an RPG).>>12900724The puzzles and level design aren't even that confusing. Hexen's Seven Portals is much worse.
>>12900704>Gave the sequel a shot and dropped it because I wanted a linear campaign, not the semi-open world thing it had going on.you should try ashes hard reset, it's linear in the style of 2063. but afterglow & blackwater are by far the best, as for me hub-based design beats linear campaign every time.
>>12900548That's pretty cool even though I'm not a duke guy. Can't play now unfortunately but I'd give it a go if I had time.
>>12900704I refuse to pay for Supplice because of the cover but I will 100% pirate and play it once it leaves early access because I absolutely love Mechadon maps.
>>12900729>The puzzles and level design aren't even that confusing. Hexen's Seven Portals is much worse.exactly, but its enough to make average fps fan loose all interest
>>12900707It's not like it's even that good of a map, just a flat arena with boxes that periodically lower.
>>12900474Lol you been drinking too much haterade nigga
>>12900729>Hexen's Seven Portals is much worse. Not like Seven Portals is even hard, it just takes having a functioning attention span, which I guess most people going in wanting fantasy Doom don't have much of.
>>12900747My issue with it was realising the switches on the upper floor of Guardian of Steel moved some walls in the lower floor. Everything else was fine.I also find it to be the most obsuse of Hexen's hub, all of the others being much more straightforward and yet that's the one they put first.
>Hexen filters 60 IQ brainlets exhibit #24558754001
>>129007172063 at least is cool. People say the rest of the series is good to, but I stopped at the second one for reasons already mentioned.>>12900724I played the first game and that's the only thing I can confidently say I remember about it, as well as the weapons feeling like hot garbage.I don't even remember any puzzle in particular.>>12900730Will keep it in mind.>>12900737I only ever played the first map of Counterattack. It's pretty good and a good showcase for what you can do with stock textures, but I can't say I look forward to playing the rest of the WAD since his thing is making big maps that (usually) don't feel grueling. Still, I'm still burned out by shit like Doom 2 in City Only and don't want to test my luck.
>>12900752>My issue with it was realising the switches on the upper floor of Guardian of Steel moved some walls in the lower floor.I figured that from the noise, then the next thing was seeing if the opposite did something different since the map's got a symmetry thing going on.
>>12900754There are people out there getting filted by Hedon.
>>12900747Doom stopped being a game that requires a functioning attention span the moment Alien Vendetta got released and it swept Eternal under the carpet forever. Arguably when Final Doom was released. TNT vs Plutonia was the moment when the Doom's mapping future was decided.
>>12900760>I figured that from the noiseNTA, but that also gets marred by the fact that the exact same noise is used for random ambience and/or it gets drowned out by a different ambient noise. Honestly, Guardian of Steel should not have any ambient noise at all, or at least noises that don't resemble the one you're supposed to be listening for.
>>12900745How am I hating?
>>12900754I once did a test hub for an idea I had of leveraging my AGS experience to do a less hand-holding Hexen wad, only two people out of like twenty actually completed it. Most were defeated by the most basic shove gears inside a clocktower to fix it puzzle.
>>12900780Do you still have it, by any chance?
>>12900782Lost it when a drive died a couple years ago, I've had fuck all luck in finding it online since. It was called The Clocktower of Cronos because I'm shit at names.
>>12900754>>12900747What I don't like about Hexen is that I feel it doesn't adequately deliver on either first person action, nor really puzzling and questing, and they aren't combined well.If you told me there was a game which mixed the fast paced action of Duke Nukem 3D or Blood, but then with the puzzle solving and character interaction of Indiana Jones & Fate Of Atlantis, that would sound absolutely awesome to me. Obviously, Hexen is nothing of the sort. Some people do find enjoyment in Hexen, and fair enough, subjectivity and all that, but I always just wished it leaned more towards Heretic. Actually, what I REALLY wish it was more like is Strife, that's a game I actually really like a lot, and that game doesn't even really have much to speak of in terms of puzzling at all, but it has fun shooting action and an enjoyable presentation and setting, it feels lively and colorful.Strife also has a bunch of problems in its design, but I like it anyway.
>>12900795Hexen could do with some proper puzzles but judging by how hard it filters people with vanilla, I'm not sure it'd be well received. These days I'd be tempted to have something along the lines of Rekkr's E2M9, which I fucking loved but I'd put money on it having gotten Revae a bunch of complaints.
>>12900442How many /vr/ things (Doom or otherwise) even have them?
>>12900832One of my Doom dreams has been to do a deep dive into the most creative puzzle wads, and replay some non-Doom games like Lufia II and Brainlord, and use everything I learn to give Hexen a wad to be proud of.On a non-/vr/ note, I recently played CrossCode, and I got the feeling that style of timing and reaction-based puzzle would be perfectly suited to the Doom engine as well.
>>12900852does SW count?
>>12900852There's a lot in Japanese games, some which made it over to the west, most which didn't. There's some Touhou and Cardcaptor Sakura games which are retro, and I think maybe Idolm@ster also.
>>12900854>CrossCodeBouncing shots into switch puzzles might be cool, there was a level that did that in the Crystal Maze wad.
>>12900832>Rekkr's E2M9You can't just put a full-blown Myst fuckyou puzzle in a shooter game and expect people to like it. Some did, but most were rightfully irritated. It's one thing when the whole game is about puzzles and that's your whole gameplay, and the other when the game offers you a good FPS gameplay, and most of the game is about shooting, and then it just takes all of it away from you, and expecs you to do something else, something that has absolutely nothing in common (emphasis on this part) with what you did for a dozen(s) hours before that. There's a world of difference between a puzzle in a puzzle game and a puzzle in an action game. I'm not saying it should be dumb, I'm saying there's a fuckhuge middle ground.
>>12900234tangentially related but i'm pretty sure older versions of darkplaces didn't check what you were actually saving to so if you did in map trickery to trigger a console command to save the game but named it something not a savegame you could purposefully overwrite game files in the game directory
>>12900876>Bouncing shots into switch puzzles might be coolthere's a duke map with a puzzle like thathttps://msdn.duke4.net/hotlastpissedtime.php
>>12900880I don't think it's any more or less of a fuck you to the player than the first secret map, at most he could have done what Headless Chicken did with it's big ass secret map.
>>12900859Those aren't lolis so no.>>12900867Misspoke, meant more /vr/ shooters and their associated mods. There's Rady's Class and Demonsteele, but what else?
>>12900897I don't agree with you at all because the first secret map is still about shooting things. I would have no complaints if the whole E2 had puzzles here and there, and then the secret map was all these puzzles cranked up to eleven, and you had to apply all your gained knowledge to solve the final secret puzzle. But that's obviously too much efforts (non-derogatory, with all my respect to Revae, I really believe it's very difficult to pull out), that's why you don't normally do that in shooter games. Just slapping a single complicated puzzle onto a not-puzzle game is not hard except it's vanilla Doom actions, and is not something that most players will/can appreciate.
>>12900897>The safe word is "idclev16" ;)> ;):^)
>>12900945This does remind me of Epic 2 and its repeated use of birds and scarabs as motifs. It's not this huge thing, but it does stay in play for the entire megawad (but not necessarily for every map).>scarabs mark secrets and goodies>birds mark ambushes and monster closetsAs a whole though, Epic 2 does have a fair bit of puzzles to it and it's quite well-regarded since it introduces them from the first map and keeps them in play. I can't think of any megawad, solo or not, which is so consistent AND enjoyable when it comes to these things.
>>12900772I misinterpreted your post. I was thinking that you have to be your own cheerleader and although it's nice when someone else is, you can't count on other people to support you. It comes from WITHIN.
>>12900880It's a secret level. All the secret levels are gimmicks. It was hit or miss with people though. And you don't have to do the puzzles , you can brute force it.
>>12900892But why would anyone want to do that? I don't think I understand.
>>12900997It's good and bad with Romero tbf, there's many times when he was clearly 100% right to cheer himself (and the other guys) on, like when he saw the Dangerous Dave sidescroller demo, and because he was a serious programmer he actually understood the weight of what Carmack had pulled off and rightfully wanted them all to aim for the stars with it.It wasn't all just heated Dai-Katana moments, and in comparison he feels more humble and grown up these days, knowing to restrain himself.
Just beat The Given today. Great wad if you like big maps with lots of details, puzzles and no monsters (literally 0 monsters). All 4 puzzles were fun, but the last one was so fucking obscure that I really hated it. Can't believe it took me that long, but it was enjoyable overall, so I give it a 3 out of 5.Think I'm gonna finish Back to Saturn X now, which I left off at level 31. Is it me or is it not as easy as I thought?>>12899772Played it on UV with pistol starts on every map. The first two maps are pretty open with a couple of arena fights here and there. The last two are full-on monster arenas, full of cacos, hell knights and cyberdemons. Kinda hard, but gets easy once you figure out the strategy. Gets a bit tiring towards the end, but the mappack is short (4 levels + 1 hub) so it doesn't drag on for too long. I'd recommend it.
>>12900928are you sure? this one looks like a kid
>>12901027That really is the key, is if someone is a complete d-bag but recognizes the err of their ways and changes for the better. I was a complete fucking retarded asshole until I turned about 26 years old. I cringe at the man I used to be.
>>12900256>god if you make this i'll buy you a beer or a coffeeIt'll probably be exclusive to vkQuake (and QSS I guess) and take a long time to flesh out to a meaningful extent, but I'm hoping once there's a framework in place that others will contribute. >>12900892I feel like DarkPlaces (and FTE nowadays) did a lot to discourage other ports from adopting advanced features due to the sheer amount of jank and user-unfriendliness they present. You don't want to copy homework from the guy pissing and shitting himself constantly, even if he has an A in the class.
>>12900462>read for meokay!>Multiple Players>This feature, added to the 3-D realism, makes DOOMa very powerful cooperative game and its release a landmarkevent in the software industry.>powerful cooperative>cooperativeThe only time it mentions a vs mode it's talking about a competitive mode against the demons.

>>12900078Could you lend me that orc skeleton dancing gif ?
>>12901214Probably something phallic.
>>12901203Causing your friend to "bite it" does not sound very cooperative. You must have shitty friends, and I'm sorry for that.
>>12901232It's important to get consent before any kind of friend-biting action.
>>12901186It's 159 minutes, which is 2 hrs and 39 mins or so. If you still think that's a lot, well yeah, some of the puzzles are pretty cryptic.
>>12901232Friendly fire my homie. Plus competitive coop might incentivize it.Also at the time of this release, the original idea was more tactical than the game ended up. So causing your friends to bite it would just as easily mean "fucking up".For a document that never mentions any explicit player vs player combat as a game mode, this isn't exactly indicative of much.
>>12899686What if there were a xitter post of Revae claiming he actually invented deathmatch arenas in each single-player map, how would Romero respond without sounding mad ?

>>12901325Interesting. I'm currently running this one. I saved it from the trashcan at work. I don't use any of the extra buttons but maybe I should idk. I'm thinking for Quake to switch between rocket launcher and nailgun because of those damn shamblers. I prefer the regular nailgun to the super nailgun because I feel I can conserve ammo better.
>>12901354>I prefer the regular nailgun to the super nailgun because I feel I can conserve ammo better.I do that, always trying to save nails for the heavy dudes and using single sg for sniping and wearing down enemies as much as possible (basically I play like playing Thief unless there's no other way.) But generally it's really a good idea to have binds for <every> weapon.Mice:-gaming grade sensor, no office stuff with weird powersaving, atleast PAW 3311 sensor I'd say- polling rate of 1000 hz is sufficient but mandatory- avoid installing manufacturer software, for DPI most mice have an extra switch and polling rate can be adjusted via HIDUSBF software if there's no other way
>>12901302Wouldn't it be the other way around?
So I don't understand the point of "grid size" in trenchbroom. Is it mostly for adding more vertices on floors and ground or what am I really doing by setting it smaller and is there a standard "one size fits all" thing I should do?
>>12901446You make it smaller to make smaller things, and bigger to make bigger things. I don't see how this could be confusing.
Afterglow is kinda fake non linear like Strife. You have choices occasionally about what order to do things but the choice is more do i go to the obvious ez or harder stage first. And then there will be a massive level after both where you finish most of the side quests. I just think recoiling off the game for two hub maps with 4 maps connected to them to be a little strange. Especially in light of Arcane Dimensions or Alkaline etcAlso the ip banning range thing is nuts.
>>12901302>Hello Revae, I hope you fucking die!>This statement is incorrect. your wad doesn't have FULLY, TOTALLY DIFFERENT levels, I'm talking about deathmatch levels, per level, dude! >>12901217>lendIs you gonna give it back? But seriously, this is the exact gif I used, but you'll notice there's heavy watermarking. I looked around for a better version but had no success.

>>12901579That's going in my skeleton folder.
>>12901465Ok, thanks. I am over-thinking things. So if I were to construct say a couch or a table with the brushes I would set it smaller, and for the buildings and walls and shit I should set it bigger?
>>12901587Yeah, pretty much. You'll just want to make sure small stuff is grouped as a func_detail entity so VIS doesn't take six gorillion years. And if you haven't watched Dumptruck's mapping tutorials yet you really should. They explain everything in detail.

>>12901636If anyone considers getting this pretty ok, you should turn off the mouse's lights insanely blinding lights, and that means downloading proprietary software or something else and turning the lights off from there. You don't need the software running as it's stay in memory or something like that..I play with relaxed crab hand style, with my palm not touching the mouse but really close. The middle mouse press is really stiff so you have to use your index finger because you'll struggle with your middle finger, but it's no problem but more importantly feels awesome. The pistol and chaingun feel really good-- your thumb tip is on the pistol and the inside of your thumb is on your chaingun, and you'll never accidently hit one not the other. Binding "open" on the mouse there is kinda strange beast, with you reaching your thumb up to flick it down. If you're panicking you just stick with a keyboard open key because you will flick so hard you flip your mouse damn near over. The BFG requires quite the reach with your thumb and bringing the mouse down into your palm touching your... thenar eminence... with it and it feels like a tremendous thing to and suits the bfg well.
>>12901636forgot the add that the "open" and "fov zoom" key are one in the same and stiff as fuck so its definitely not for everyone. You'd probably be better off assigning it to map or something.

Sorta like Zero Mission. The Paralyzer takes 1 1/2 seconds to do a single Dispersion Pistol worth of damage, so it sucks balls. She knows this, so she can hold a single Unreal weapon in her hands and waste fools until she gets the Power Suit back. >>12899757>>12899783Wired mice are unfortunately kind of leaving the gaming space. Wireless technology has gotten so cheap and good that even budget options have good implementations. So wired mice have become either gimmick products, cheap factory fillers or actual scams. They don't usually come with good internals, either.PS/2 mice have it even worse. Even though the port itself is low latency, the mice typically have trash internals and terrible sensors. The port is mostly used for troubleshooting these days, if there even is one.
Voxel models as skinned meshes look funny, even if they are horribly inefficient.
>>12901807That's quite the turnaround on post to fan-art

I'm really liking Hardfest 2 so far, and this map was so goddamn good too with it's interesting heaven/hell gimmick. Love me some exploration maps.
>>12901027>>12901043It's tragic that Daikatana was one of the biggest failures in gaming history, but by all accounts that slice of humble pie made Romero into a better man. Though he was never a total dickhead, Deus Ex exists because he basically promised Warren Spector the moon and held to his word. He was also fortunate that it failed in 2000 when you could reasonably reflect on a defeat like that, and not the 2020's where grifting and doubling down comes as easy as breathing to game devs. people in general, but you know what I meanChange either of those variables, and there's no telling what he'd be like today.
>>12900743Could someone re-add it for those who don't give a shit about the drama?
>>12899708Finally, the 1987 classic movie gets a vidya adaptation
>>12902234I'm not re-adding anything because I have a bunch of my own stuff I need to be working on, but I happen to have the 1.001 build which still has the rapist's map in it (map TRIPPER)https://files.catbox.moe/4aeapj.pk3The novelty wore off in the first round, but knock yerself out Anon.

>>12902010>wired mice have become either gimmick products, cheap factory fillers or actual scamsNot true, for example the Endgame Gear OP1 series is up to e-sports standard, whatever that is. There are numerous versions, but the very basic version with 1k polling rate is a total banger for smaller hands/clawgrip>PS/2you dudes are retro in every way...that's prehistoric and max polling rate is 200 which is maybe good enough for HeXen :P but not for the distinguished (ambitious even) slaughterslop connoisseurSearching r/Mousereview for budget mice options is also a good idea, the regulars there know their stuff.
