SaGa Frontier or Emerald Beyond.
Dex is a really cool cyberpunk ARPG/platformer. Think Deus Ex turned sidescroller. It released on everything and often goes on sale for steep discounts. I would really only recommend them to people who were fans of Penny Arcade, which I recognize is a small and despicable niche, but the Rain Slick games are actually really competently made and enjoyable. The first 2 are completely different from the last 2, and they're all pretty short and condensed.

Fate gates of dawn in an underlooked short amiga dungeon crawler.There is also dragon quest 7, don't listen to people calling it long, those fools just got filtered by the first boss for 50+hours.Persona 4 has extremely quick pacing and can be finished in a single day since you are just playing the new guy first week at school.
