Just finished SL1'ing Black Drake Caramille. It was a long grind and there may have been better ways to pull it off, but here's my setup for future reference.
>Storm Ruler +10
>Leaf Ring
>Ring of Undefeatable (the key to my strategy)
>Rapunzel's Favor
>Ring of White Crow

Start with Fairy Wing + Evade, if there's any moment to risk getting OHKO'd by the dragon, it better be the first turn so you can restart quickly. Your second turn should be Preraise + Fairy Wing. Now, you switch to a 4 turn cycle of actions:
>Evade + Withstand
>Storm Ruler x2
>Evade + Withstand
>Fairy Wing + Storm Ruler
Replace a Storm Ruler with Divine Blessing if applicable (i.e. 1 HP). If double shiny eye happens (forcing the preraise to trigger), apply double Fairy Wing immediately, then Evade + Withstand (it would have to be some massive bad luck to have the shiny eye trigger 4 times in a row), then Preraise next turn and return to your usual cycle. The Ring of Undefeatable is crucial in this setup because the dragon can cast speed debuffs, breaking your attack cycle.
>>
>>3831674
As a side note, this cost me 22 Divine Blessings and 33 Fairy Wings.

This doesn't have a very strict action order, just Shadowmeld, resin stacking, normal attacks and divine blessings for mana replenishment.

Alright, this was my setup to deal with Elisabeth. It would probably be a lot easier with the goat ring but I deliberately refused to use it.
>Storm Ruler +10
>Leaf's Ring
>Traitorous Rabbit's Ring
>Apple Ring
>Ring of the White Crow

Dung Pie + Evade until she gets poisoned, then Fairy Powder + Evade until she falls asleep. From that point, double Fairy Powder all the way. The main goal is to prevent the meteor showers in the second half of the HP bar, because Withstand + Preraise won't save you from the third one that hits you.

Demonbeast Jeanne was pretty difficult. Similar idea to >>3831773 but using the Rapunzel ring. Make sure to have Preraise on at all times, dung pie and evade until she's poisoned, then fairy powder and evade until she falls asleep. Once she's asleep, get double fairy wing ASAP (doing it before runs the risk of it getting wasted because of all the resurrections you have to go through) then double fairy powder. If the powder has effect at the beginning of her turn (you see the fell asleep message), don't use it on her during the rest of her turn, in order to save on powders.

I was like you too once, this isn't my first time playing either of the BS games. I just took the Steam release as the opportunity to do a proper SL1 run. Anyway, at the bottom of it all are some very basic ideas that will improve your game tremendously if you are aware of them, so I'm going to spoiler them because I know how fun it is for a beginner to form his own playstyle instead of conforming to tried and true methods.
>speed is your single most important stat, but at the same time don't overdo it; you more or less only need enough speed to have the first turn in the battle (with some exceptions if the enemy won't attack straight away) and enough turns to make progress between enemy turns
>timing is key, learn when the enemy is about to hit and parry (in the early game, later on most enemies will bypass it) or evade; evasion has 100% success rate (unless you're facing an unavoidable attack) and it trivialises your gameplay

It depends on your intepretation of the last memory fragment. You could either see it as Grimm in the real world and point to the absence of any memories of who he is but you could also make an argument that it's Dodgson suffering from amnesia after the building he was in collapsed on him. Mary was also the one to answer Dodgson's wish, while TCO was the one to answer Alice Hargreave's, which might indicate Mary got to him first. This doesn't explain why Mary would just let Grimm run free in the waking world instead of keeping him in Elysium since Dodgson would've had to have been mind fucked there in order to be a part of Grimm.

I'm personally of the belief that TCO was able to get to Dodgson before Mary. The memory fragments show that when a Great One enters into reality it causes the world to go to shit, which would explain Dodgson waking up under a pile of rubble after summoning Mary instead of instantly being kidnapped by her to Elysium. Grimm being the one at the tea party would mean that Mary let him go back to reality for some reason only for him to then be stolen by TCO and taken to Wonderland which doesn't make much sense for Mary to do.

>The memory fragments show that when a Great One enters into reality it causes the world to go to shit, which would explain Dodgson waking up under a pile of rubble
Reality looking fucked up in the last flame isn't because of TCO being summoned, it's because TCO got their ass handed to them and bled all over the fucking planet on their fall down to the Earth. The most likely reason why is a Ghoul, specifically the first one that was made and who is cited as a god hunter.

The boss might seem like a walkover at first because you can just use mirrors to reflect magic attacks and do your own attacks (although she has a physical attack that can also trigger at random, so Preraise is still a necessity), but then the second phase kicks in, and you're going to have to survive more unavoidable attacks than you can tank, killing you. So how do you deal with that? By one-shotting phase 2 in the same turn you finish phase 1 off. And for that you need loads of magic. Speed is thankfully a secondary concern (300 should be enough to either get first turn, or if you're lucky enough, not get attacked). Every turn you will be using magic mirrors as the first of yor actions. The second action will be, in order: Preraise, Power Within, White and Sticky, White and Sticky, Divine Blessing. Next turn you will be shooting a double Soul Discharge, and the first should take phase 1 out, while the second will nuke phase 2.

What he suggested is overkill. DLC is about puzzle fights and buffing, not stats. Enemies do %HP damage on some attacks so you can't even fully outlevel it barring oneshotting them, but suggested level ranges (regarding boss HP and attacks that don't scale with your HP) would, imo, be:
>low level: ~3000 stats
>normal level: 5000 stats
>cheese level: 10000 stats

This is because you typically need to pass the Luck check on the old king's reflection breaks, and 10k stats is what EMMM suggests in the readme as panacea to being bad and struggling too much with the content.

Lilith setup, but this does include the Calamity Ring, which is obtained by beating the much more difficult Caramille. She's beatable without this ring, I've done it before in my first cycle, but this setup will finish the job in just a few turns. Spend your first turn freezing her or putting her to sleep (evading or withstanding won't do shit, her attack bypasses both), then buff your magic and Soul Discharge. This one uses the Andor Sword +10.
>>

Not because she wouldn't do it, but because she uses them as ingredients so there wouldn’t be enough for Liz to bathe in.

So are you supposed to fight Winter Warrior/Witch before entering DLC3? Because how the fuck someone beats them at SL1 without buffing your stats to the highest degree I don't understand. They hit 3-4 times my health bar in one turn. That's with basically every buff, four black rabbit rings and Margaret covenant.

Sometimes when I stack buffs I seem to luck out and not die and decimate half their HP but otherwise even with Requiem/Grit/Indignation I still die.
>>
>>3833283
Okay I managed to get Winter warrior down to half and he one shots me despite still having requiem up so I imagine he dispels it with his attack.

If balance was supposed to be the reason, I don't see the point. By the time you're in NG+, you've almost certainly broken the game regardless. Not a very high ceiling.
I think it's meant to reflect that the rings are like "key items." The princess rings unlock the castle door and the rabbit ring unlocks ending D.

I thought the Node Betrayal would be the last straw
About Uragiri Alice I already had my doubts.
I saw the second Leaf betrayal coming from far away but it was fucked up how I was forced to betray Red earlier
The Mabel betrayal at the very end was the real last straw. I just couldn't go on. Why the fuck did I keep falling for it.
Are males simply designed that way?

NG+3 or so, yeah. That's how it was designed, so that's what you should do. People using walkthroughs are robbing themselves. I've witnessed a friend going into the second game fully blind, and he figured out the endings A-G by the end of NG+3 (fourth run). Replying new NG+'s takes no time at all, too.
BS1 is worse about that, though several of the fairy tales people used to think were missable (Belle, Goose) are actually not, and the only one you can fuck up easily is Jeanne's, meaning you can get ends B,C,D on NG+0 easily. You do need an NG+1 or a few hints to get end A legitimately, though. Elma's quest is way too timing sensitive.
>>
>>3834434
The endings themselves aren't hard to do in black souls 1 since after each char ending and ending a and b you just get respawned in the holy forest. C is a bit trickier since you need to do some thing that can't be undone until you fully go into a new game plus. Ending d is easy enough to do as well though
>>
>>3834559

For a SL1 run is it fine to run through the game to buy/gather all the shit, not giving a fuck about Jabberwock etc
Reaching 10 candles and just resetting by losing to Alice, or winning, doesnt matter
Or does that make the base game too easy?

>F/G ending requirements in BS2
Christ. There's no way anyone actually found this shit on their own. Even if you do end up experimenting with SEN 0 early game to unlock the later stuff, there's no clues after that what all the flags are or how many you have to collect, nor anything hinting at the hidden trigger to get into the route once you have everything. What was the dev thinking?
>>
>>3834716
>There's no way anyone actually found this shit on their own.
But I did? Granted, it took multiple cycles and then a replay of BS1 for the final piece to click.
>>
>>3834716
He wasnt
People will however keep replying to this by saying "But i did it" "It is completely logical" it isnt
The only one that is logical is the press x/escape
The rest are completely arbitrary
>>
>>3834719
>logical
By that i mean, the game hints at it
The game does not hint at any other shit you are required to do to even unlock the possibility of the major hint even working.
You could go through the game, figure out that part of the thing by yourself, and nothing will happen, which would make anyone not try that again, with the requirements
>>
>>3834719
>>3834721
Yeah, it wouldn't be as bad if there was at least some in-game signposting somewhere. The game already has the torches for the progress meter, and the first game had the library for C ending. The dev could have had something similar for Red Riding Hood meetings, memory orbs and Leaf's ring (maybe a secret room you could access?), followed by something cryptic hinting you to go back to very beginning after you've met all the requirements.
>>
>eroge
>cosmic horror
>soulslike
>based off of works everyone is already familiar with, but more spoopier and lovescraftian
>made in rpgmaker
It’s like the dev created this game in a lab to be sovl. Forced sovl.
>>
>>3834716
>What was the dev thinking?
To breaking it down: You need to do a 0 SEN run and find the trigger. That's the whole puzzle.
The first part is obvious after exploring the game normally and realizing what SEN is, while the latter has a major hint in game. The mechanic is also relevant in other spots in BS1/2, such as Bander's test in BS1 and cancelling the sleeping Node scene in BS2. There is just one bullshit part to the puzzle, and it's what the other anons said about there being no feedback for getting the requirements done. That's something you can easily get unlucky with, if you try to do it before the other things and find that it doesn't work.

The requirements themselves are not some gigabrain puzzle. You will naturally get all of them done by simply finishing a run at 0 SEN. Despite several old BS2 guides saying otherwise, you don't even need to meet Red at every bonfire, get the mark, etc. There should be a progress mark of some kind communicating to you that you're eligible after you've met all the conditions like >>3834723 says, but the rest of the end F/G puzzle isn't nearly as hard to figure out as some people make it out to be.

Node can't say anything because TCO will notice it and restart the loop. Which is what happened in the B ending.
>Oh btw, we kidnapped you and are holding you here against your will btw.
How can you betray someone you don't know? Grimm was literally a stranger to her, and TCO offered her a good deal, so she took it. Over the course of a dozen cycles, Node began to empathize with Grimm and began to actively help him. She helped Red multiple times and brought her to Wonderland, she schemed with Mabel and Prickett, she even gave up her garden and White Queen status to get your ass out of Wonderland. Yes, she hoped Grimm to stay with her, but she didn't ever force you to. This choice was entirely in your hands as your happiness and freedom was her priority. Sometimes you have to let go of someone you love. That's what she learns in the H ending

I forgot to lit the crash chamber bonfire during ng+ and proceeded to convince myself that I bricked my whole game from everything in the upper area of the pond of bloody tea.
I didn't die once during the run and thought you needed to reach the library through the long way on ng+.
It was not until I reloaded my save from before ng+ and played until I reached the bridge with the furry red hood that I realised my stupidity, not long after I remembered the elevator in the wharf too.
Then I met Victoria and realised how deep my retardation ran. the fact I didn't forget about the bonfire but that it doesn't exist until you lit the one in the library was just the final salt into the wound.

Bravely Default, Soul Nomad There is an impossible boss fight early game that you can kill on NG+ which leads you down the bad guy route.
>>
I kind of wish the games were better balanced, or maybe ditched leveling altogether and instead relied solely on gear and skill unlock-based progression. After early game encounters feeling like somewhat fair, both games' fights either tend to turn into complete pushovers or you getting turned into paste in a single turn, with a few exceptions in between assuming you end up encountering content at the intended level. The more interesting fights already rely on having the right gear and skills for the encounter rather than brute forcing with stats, so it'd be cool if the game in general could be more like that.
>>
>>3835601
I think that being able to completely break several fights with overpowered bullshit and stats is part of the fun.

Any tips for not!Kalameet SL1? Where the hell do you get Preraise?

In a few more words, I've been doing BS1 SL1, and while most of the game has been very fun, these last few bosses are really pushing it. The hardest things I've killed are Prayer Master and Elizabeth. Currently getting my ass kicked by the Black Dragon in the DLC area.

My setup evolved through the run, but tl;dr I went from the Dagger to Storm Ruler, using resin stacking and crestfallen's ring—and Broken Shackles in case of Storm Ruler—to kill bosses from 51% HP to 0 in a turn or two to skip their undodgeable phase 2 attacks. Most bosses are completely harmless >50% HP (Behemoth, Prayer Master, even Ellie) if you just Evade every turn.
The issue is that the dragon gets his unavoidable shiny eye attack already in phase 1, and can do it twice in a row (popping Withstand, which is the usual counter), and he also requires the anti-debuff ring for the fight which cuts my damage in half, making any rushing attempts completely dead in the water. I remember Preraise, but I don't remember where it was found. I got the boss to ~40% once, but I don't really want to retry for an hour more, praying for no 2x Eye. He's also immune to Sleep cheese.

I remember at least one anon doing it a week or two ago itt, but I don't want to cheat and look up the full solution.
Picrel is my default Storm Ruler setup, for this boss I had to swap Broken Shackles for Undefeatable.

The bosses in the chaos dungeon feel oddly weak.
Up to Red Hood's granny in the 79th layer and it still died in a single normal hit.
Random enemies in non-boss floors put up a better fight than the bosses.

A few BS1 questions since I'm trying to get all the achievements on the steam version
1. How do I fight Demon Beast Jeanne and Catherine? What triggers them into becoming demon beasts?
2. What makes Elizabeth a demon beast as well? I think it has to do with not recovering her ring, but I've left her for a while and she still hasn't turned
3. Where does demon beast Hansel or Gretel run off to when you don't pick them?
>>
>>3839393
>1. How do I fight Demon Beast Jeanne and Catherine? What triggers them into becoming demon beasts?
Someone else asked this in the previous thread.
For Catherine you have to reach Progress 4 or higher while she's on Elixir's Cathedral.
For Jeanne you have to revive and recruit her, and then talk to her with 10 Sins or more. She'll move to Lost Empire.

>What makes Elizabeth a demon beast as well?
Red Hood walking to her and saying "Hi."
Once you recruit Red, after you give Elizabeth her ring back, she'll ask if you think she should try to talk to Elizabeth or not.
Tell her to talk to Elizabeth if you want Elizabeth to turn into a demonbeast.

>3. Where does demon beast Hansel or Gretel run off to when you don't pick them?
The map right below Dorothy's house in the Forest of Abandoned iirc.

She's a girl who doesn't remember her original gender anymore.

I went to check the original Japanese text and Dorothy isn't referred to by any gendered pronoun such as "she / her". It's natural to omit the subject of the sentence in Japanese, and third person references are often expressed with demonstrative pronouns. Only あの子 (ano ko) is used, which could be used to refer to kids of either gender. The doctor however is called クソ無能ロリコンハゲ (kuso munou rorikon hage), which'd translate to "shitty worthless lolicon baldy", i.e. Dorothy's probably a loli.
>>
>>3839937
Addendum. I realized that the doctor's attractions to female children probably aren't necessarily referring to Dorothy, but other patients. So yeah, more vague. Regardless, Dororthy doesn't seem to be referred to as either gender in the mental ward sections in Japanese.

She has undodgeable attacks, inflicts a slew of status effects *and* has high status resistances, all on top of being too tanky to rush. Those are major problems for SL1. On leveled runs you can just nuke her before her turn, or (also due to her extremely low speed) defend+evade to survive her attacks.
Although unlike that anon I'd put Hotel Poseidon Ellie ahead of Caramilie. Black Drake requires specific setup, but is consistent with a strategy, and Ellie feels like the most random fight ever, where you have to pray that the sleep effect connects.

>>
>>3841079
Spoiler abound, obviously. I think he changed like 20-30 tracks, but notable ones include those mentioned by >>3841094 and also:
The meme song for the Moon is ruined.
Spore Forest is different, subjective.
Prickett and Mabel are different, and both go for a much less serious sound than before, presumably to highlight it being them playing with you, not really "fighting".
Removed the Wubtrack from Carpenter's p2 only to replace it with an even more memetic song.
Dinah and Leaf are different. I dislike new Dinah for being worse at convening the despair of the situation, and new Leaf's combat theme goes way more "epic", which is subjective but imo fits her.
Half of DLC3 is different, but I haven't played it enough with both to compare. IIRC Grand Guignol also got the Prickett/Mabel treatment to tone down the epicness for a focus on the "play" part in several phases.

What does SL1 mean in BS2? Some content seems impossible without the speed cap since you die before getting a turn. Do you just grind out two black goat rings and go from there? That seems easier than just playing normally.
>>
>>3841171
>What does SL1 mean in BS2?
No levels or colored souls, the base statline you start the game with is the base statline you end your run with.
>Do you just grind out two black goat rings and go from there?
1 from Chikerost's quest is practically all you need for base game shit, or alternatively you can really scrounge around for your speed rings and other gear that boosts it until you start hitting later DLC content and then start grabbing more of them. BS2's base game isn't particularly difficult on an SL1 run unless you go out of your way to gimp yourself or have zero meta knowledge. DLC shit will require more though.
>That seems easier than just playing normally.
A RotBG nearly at the start of a new file is pretty broken, but it breaks shit that early on normal runs too. Later on you're gimping yourself pretty hard unless you like trying to farm Necronomicons to get around the 0 MP thing when a setup needs something besides the Wand of Creation, and obviously every RotBG that IIRC gives its +500 core stat and 1.2x stat boost per ring is another BRR or even WRR that you could have put on there instead.

It's pretty easily the best "sword" in the game. The only weapons that really are worth using over it are weapons that do stuff that aren't just skills. You just need to figure out how to get a bunch of SPD and never get hit. Most enemies are either incapable of damaging you on your [Evade] turns, or can be disabled in some way.
The few that can't are the challenging ones.

It's arguably a lot easier in 2 than 1 because items don't cost a turn and EMMM clearly thought out more how lvl 1 runs work which is why I assume he does them himself to see if they're possible before finishing the game. They're still doable in 1 but 1 is also way more finnicky due to being less complex and more geared towards unga bunga.

Thief's Dagger's skill does x6ATK damage and applies the dodge status.
Guardian Bunker applies the Guard status so long as you attack with it.
Guard and Dodge both give +50% speed while active.
Undodgeable and unguardable attacks exist much later on.
Just be yourself, anon. The only real "cheats" are gunlocking, Requiem, and Guardian Angel/Draconic Ring.

Don't most boss fights where it'd actually be useful just dispel or override it anyways?

None of those are cheating because they're playing within the rules of the game. They may be cheese tactics but the game gave you those tools so that you can use them, it's not like you're purposely combining certain moves in an unintended way that glitches and gives you a higher damage multiplier or something.

>My sweet little whorish Nora I did as you told me, you dirty little girl, and pulled myself off twice when I read your letter. I am delighted to see that you do like being fucked arseways. Yes, now I can remember that night when I fucked you for so long backwards. It was the dirtiest fucking I ever gave you, darling. My prick was stuck in you for hours, fucking in and out under your upturned rump. I felt your fat sweaty buttocks under my belly and saw your flushed face and mad eyes. At every fuck I gave you your shameless tongue came bursting out through your lips and if a gave you a bigger stronger fuck than usual, fat dirty farts came spluttering out of your backside. You had an arse full of farts that night, darling, and I fucked them out of you, big fat fellows, long windy ones, quick little merry cracks and a lot of tiny little naughty farties ending in a long gush from your hole. It is wonderful to fuck a farting woman when every fuck drives one out of her. I think I would know Nora’s fart anywhere. I think I could pick hers out in a roomful of farting women. It is a rather girlish noise not like the wet windy fart which I imagine fat wives have. It is sudden and dry and dirty like what a bold girl would let off in fun in a school dormitory at night. I hope Nora will let off no end of her farts in my face so that I may know their smell also.
>>

She's not heartless, all she's got in her heart is you! Seriously though, the entirety of BS1 was one giant fanfic trying to impress you, and at some point it's established that she genuinely uses tragedy and betrayal to express her love(and you do, too, back to her), so in a sense everything she does is out of love. And hey, let's be real, during BS1 she's literally egging you on to rape and murder anyone you feel like; she was always evil and her having wronged you in the past specifically doesn't really make her that much worse than how she already presented herself in the grand scheme of things. Hell, the only interaction we have between her and anyone else in BS1 is her teaching Elma how to suck dick. Says enough about how much she values others besides you, having kidnapped and brainwashed them to be raped and murdered by you and all.
