Putting political intrique, moral ambiguity and complexity into something like Star Wars is a losing battle. The series is built off of the black and white morality serials that George Lucas was reading as a child. You fundamentally cannot put these things into the series for that reason. Anyone who disagrees doesn't actually understand what Star Wars is supposed to be. Star Wars is supposed to be simplistic.
