I finally tried siege of dragonspear after being repeatedly told it was the worst abomination ever made. Its not terrible, in fact I think it's pretty good. it feels like a nice way to change things up after playing through all of bg1, good fights that challenge my character and the story is serviceable. Anyone else actually played it?

I've never seen anyone say this.

see the two posts above yours

I liked seeing the bridge where bhaal died, shit gave me hard nostalgia for the dnd novels. Other than that the story felt pointless and the dungeons boring so I just rushed it. I'm not playing it ever again.

You guys are just completely stupid assholes saying whatever you think is "based". Being a contrarian doesn't make you seem cool. It just reveals that you're an asshole.
>>3837967
There's nothing wrong with Dragonspear, really. Is it an oh my god instant classic that will stand for a hundred years? No. Does it have to be? No. It's fine.
>>
>>3837997
People disliking it doesn't mean it's the worst abomination ever made. The most common thing you hear is that it's just completely unnecessary filler in any already lengthy experience. ToB is also consider kinda bad as well.

What?

>>3838023
Why are you falling for this obvious bait?

Boredom.

It's good, if the tranny cleric wasn't in it I think it'd be remembered much more fondly. You get that Beamdog? I know you're reading this; that blatant, clumsy bit of virtue signalling killed your entire pitch for BG3 and is only soiling your work more with age, new players aren't discovering it and the grognards who were your in spite it.

You are the contrarian for making an entire thread about that PoS.

Beamdog is guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.

1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).

2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.

3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.

4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.

5. Breaking the way stealth functioned in the original games.

6. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.

Why is it bad? How hard can it be to design a couple of dungeons for a 30 year old game?
>>
>>3839005
>The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release
Ridiculous
>tie the original product to our inferior ones
Ok

How's that legal?

>6. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
Skip the game entirely or just the lgbt stuff?

Entirely. It's not just the unkillable tranny they put in. It's not just them having Minsc talk about GamerGate. It's not just that you HAVE to side with the refugees who robbed you. It's not just that the gameplay is ass and there's literally no room for a whole storyline between Tales of the Sword Coast and Shadows of Amn. It's not that they went through and "upgraded" the personalities of all the existing characters to be less problematic and more inclusive.

It's that they didn't even understand the story of the game and constantly fucked it up. They had Irenicus in it talking about the dreams he inflicts on the protagonist.

The dreams that were never actually sent by Irenicus and are a manifestation of your being a Bhaalspawn. The dreams that in BG2 Irenicus has no idea what you're talking about when you bring up to him.

Stupid Beamdog fucks.

>she worships the primordial origin of evil in the universe
>"but we both have black skin"
>>

>having Minsc talk about GamerGate
Lol did they really? What the fuck
>>
>>3839042
They mocked the "Really, it's [GamerGate] all about ethics in journalism" by having Minsc go "Really, it's all about ethics in adventuring" as one of his canned on-selection dialogues.

Dragonspear came out right in the midst of that, and when Beamdog got negative feedback about using Minsc as their mouthpiece they went on a ban spree against anyone that didn't support it.

I hear after the game flopped and they lost BG3 because of how bad the Enhanced Editions and Dragonspear did, they removed the line.

talking about gamer gate and having trannies in the game is the same thing as the original having references to the bob newhart show, you chud!

if you guys don't like it, don't buy the game. beamdog is getting bg3 soon and they don't need your kind of toxic playerbase
>>
>>3839036
>They had Irenicus in it talking about the dreams he inflicts on the protagonist.
Holy shit, did they really? What a mess.
>>
>>3839051
You are correct that there has always been references to pop culture in vidya, but the difference is that shit like gamer gate, trannies, lesbians, diversity, etc. is inherently controversial and not funny. Bob Newhart is a family friendly comedian. Acting like the two are the same is ridiculous.
>>
>>3839051
>I know a number of transgendered people and they are genuine, wonderful humans.
If they were genuine, they wouldn't have created an identity about pretending they're something they're not.

That's bad writing alright

>I hear after the game flopped and they lost BG3 because of how bad the Enhanced Editions and Dragonspear did, they removed the line.
That's ture. Larian applied with dos and wotc wanted to make sure it's not a one hit wonder and larian made dos2

>be me
>play Divine Divinity back in the day
>play DOS2 a few years ago
>oh fuck, these guys are still in business somehow?
>>
>>3839077
Wait until you try bg3. It's literally dos 2.5.
Should've tried the ea patch versions. Bg3 patch 3 ea was literally dos 2 dnd fan mod. Necro fire everywhere. Shadowheart and astarion were ablaze in literally every fight. Mindflayer slime constantly blowing up, poison and fire lead to dramatic explosions, too. Poison was nerfed to death, literally useless past act 1 first half.
>>
>>3839079
Yeah, I played the EA right when it came out in 2020. I actually quite liked it and was hyped for it, though I was very disappointed in the release version.
