Archetypes have a role to play.
I'm only familiar with Wakka and Cray.

They're Beta Orbiter losers.

Wakka was a captain that didn't lead his team to victory.
Cray is a Chief, but he failed to save the girl he likes.

They stand close to the people they care about, but they're powerless to do anything for them.

Reading Gibari's profile, it was someone's impression at least that he was dependent on others, and then grew independent. I'm guessing, because his father was a "head-knight", he enjoyed some kind of social status.

It's kind of similar to Gladiolus in FF15. They're a wall of muscle, but have this sense of shame and duty that comes out of nowhere. Like, "Boo-hoo! I'm an entitled nepto baby. I don't deserve these noble responsibilities.

It probably made more sense in Versus XIII when the Lucians were a mob family and death-cult worshipers. Not noble at all. So it would be like, "Yeah, I'm not cutthroat or black hearted to do what my dad did. "

Pretty sure archetypes are things like: the mentor, the endangered innocent, femme fatal.

Japan has it's own sort of archetypes. Like tsundere. Used for interpersonal drama.

The Magical Native American (or whatever is the rough cultural equivalent of wherever the game developer was from). Generally, If it's a burger made game, it's gonna take notes from the Injuns. If it's a nip game, it's gonna take notes from Ainu culture.

My favourite example of this is Gallows from Wild Arms 3. He's Native American Magic Man but WITH GUN. Hilariously enough, despite his appearances, he's more or less the designated mage archetype in the party.

I still have to play Wild Arms 3. Played the first two games, love 'em. I heard 3 was actually really good.

I made this thread once before and the most correct answer I saw is "Okinawan"

Just so you know, this isn't an archetype, just a sterotype.
