This is something i have thought for a while. I personally love how the genre itself is composed of games that have battle systems that enriches the world building and overall immersion, i want to hear your oppinions and your love for the genre itself

Not EBF for sure. Crappy flash looking game with worse art than AdventureQuest

I believe it was the SNES RPG games like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, FF III, Super Mario RPG and Romancing Saga that made me love the genre.

I find EBF art soulful

Nox. The Conjurer playthrough to be exact. Controlling enemies was a blast on its own, but the you get to summon them yourself! Not only that, if you don't feel like wasting time you can order your summon to autoexplore while you rake out a crossbow and get to do some shooting on your own. Awesome!

Not the fake JRPG slop in the OP, that's for goddamn sure.
I think it was Fallout 2 that really sold me on the idea of vidya RPGs, but I didn't even play that for the first time until like 2004 which was around the time when western RPGs were getting diluted hard with garbage like KOTOR.

Final Fantasy VI (III back then) and Phantasy Star IV. Baldur's Gate for WRPGs.

playing tales of symphonia around 13 years old had unforeseen consequences

FF4 was my first rpg, which i played it back in 1992 or whenever it released in the US. I was hooked on the genre in about 20 minutes.
