I'm playing FFVI Advance. Played the game in the past on SNES, loved it, never did the extra content so I'm looking forward to the challenge at the end. Recently finished FFV GBA.

Aegis Eclipse, moving between the PSP, the Vita and PPSSPP in futile attempts to fix this shit via asm cheats. It's unplayable garbage that was shat out at the equivalent of v0.5 or so, at the point of "it works, ship it". There are some nice ideas buried very deep inside of it, still.

Been playing Dark Souls 3 and honestly? It's not as hard. Even with a strength weapon, enemies stagger easily. I frames crazy OP and responsive, literally no Jank. The easiest was the Farron Knights. Why? Spam M2, they stagger so much, they don't even have the chance to hit you back

Aedis, not Aigis. Damn toaster. The UI is an example of how not to make it, ever. Anything you'd normally do in a tactical RPG/SRPG within 5 button presses requires at least 15 here, 99% of the time spent on it you'll spend navigating the menus. Also, it's incredibly opaque without a manual which a) PPSSPP can't view and b) didn't ship with the EU version, was only hosted on a long dead official website.

Is it challenging? Sounds annoying having to go through menus over and over for combat. NIS is usually hit or miss anyway. I honestly never heard of the game before, I guess this is why.

I need to play it still. I got filtered on the first boss before I could level up or anything. I tried twice and just didn't feel like it at the time. I prefer face-tanking stuff to dodge rolling, and I was also high, so I don't think it will be a problem when I decide to go back to play it, but still... I hate not being able to level up, just in case I hit a spot where I might need to in order to progress. Not sure why they have it like that in Dark Souls III.

You have access to 3 worlds (stories) at the start, I only played one of them (the tutorial world) which isn't difficult in the slightest because you don't have much control, and you can get "secret" OP units pretty quickly; besides, random loot is very random and you can OP equipment and spells with a reload. It's very unbalanced. No idea about the other 2 worlds, but they should be more difficult.

I've been playing Marvel Midnight Suns. Way better than it has any right to be since it combines cards with a tactical rpg. Also, earlier in the year, I finished Final Fantasy 12 and enjoyed it.

Being a brick wall in DS3 isn't really advisable since it's built using the Bloodborne engine, which, in turn, making poise kinda useless (except weapon poise which gives anti stagger mid anims).

I think ds3 ks forcing you to work with what you've got since half of the time (take it from me), farming can be tiring and often drains you mentally due to the fast paced rhythm this game has. Plus, it's subtly preparing you for Pontiff Sullyvan, so be careful. It's training hour reflexes and stamina rationing for boesses who likes to punish panic rolls and those who are impatient (and hes, brick walls are also punished heavily).

the Wing cast isn't featured super prominently. It does do the Endless Waltz story later on and they get more screen time than Amuro and Char do, which is unusual, but the big pushed gundam this go around are G, Witch and Shin from Destiny (though the other Destiny characters get pushed into the back)

Playing the Xenoblade X rerelease, I never played the original but I thought the main trilogy was decent. Still relatively early on but so far it's pretty fun

Got the platinum trophy for World of Final Fantasy by catching all the mirages. Then I didn't know what to do with my life.
So then I platinum Nexomon, by catching everything and fought these wardens to unlock a handful of legendaries. The game gives you them after completing the quest, but you have to restart the game for the trophy to register that they're "caught".

I began playing Trails in the Sky 1st chapter today. I really enjoyed the demo and I've played the original game for around ten hours and I'm already at that point in the remake.
It's just a good ass game, I have very few negatives to point out. Maybe that the translation is off at times but its not abysmally bad.
Estelle is great.

I really liked the vibe I got when I first tried the game years back. I loved the dialogue between Joshua and Estelle. It felt like a novel, there was so much in just the opening sequence. I dropped it because I wasn't hooked by the combat at that time, but I always wanted to give it another chance. I think this time will stick, even though the graphics before were fine for me as well.

The combat definitely stuck bit harder this time for me, even though I did enjoy the original's battles. It's just really satisfying that you can fuck up enemies without going to the turn based mode. Saves some time. And when you do go to the turn based mode you have so many tools to bash enemies with. Just a great battle system.

You can enter turn based at any time. The point of the ARPG mode is to stun the enemies to give you an advantage (free attacks) when you go turn based. Going turn based is beneficial in general since your damage output is DRAMATICALLY higher, plus you can only use magic while turn based. But yes, weaker enemies fold pretty fast to the real time attacks. Most boss fights enter turn based mode right at the start.
But me explaining it is pretty pointless, there is a free and quite lengthy demo that shows off how the mechanics work. Just my opinion but the system, while it sounds weird, works really well.

I've been playing Disgaea and Troubleshooter. Although Troubleshooter as a tactics RPG leans a lot more on the tactics side than the RPG side since it's an XCOM-like. The last Disgaea thread hit bump limit so maybe this board could have another one, or maybe a thread for all NIS RPG games.

I've also been in the mood for another F:NV or Fallout 1 playthrough but I don't know when I'll set aside the time for one.
