I had to kill 2 follower guys I recruited because they blocked the exit to a small room in some ruins/bunker and refused to move. The dog was smarter than them and lasted pretty much the whole game but couldn't survive the factory defenders (I ran Unarmed build so they just shot him while standing beyond all of those energy fields).Fallout 2 was even bigger and better (you can now give commands to followers to move and give them stuff, wow!) but it somehow didn't grab me as much.

The entire time i'm running around the mall/other sections it's stealth boy'd, or using the chinese stealth armor from anchorage. It's not until I hit Goodsprings where I can relax. Until Dead Money, but Implant GTX sort of trivializes that with all the chem extending perks. The section with Dog in the kitchen at the Sierra madre is especially scary. Another stealth boy section. Even the most stable member of Cromwell's cult probably makes even Moira Brown look legally sane by comparisonBethesda kind of dropped the ball writing Cromwell's character because he oddly has no reaction if you deactivate the bomb. It'd be better writing if after you defuse the bomb he tells you that he hates you calling you a heretic and changes dialogue routine delivering epic schizo rants about how your character The Lone Wanderer is the most evil despicable monster in all the wastelands 10 hours every day standing in irradiated water. You can choose to try calming him down and get good karma points by telling him you feel genuinely guilty you killed his God and are very sorry and seek redemption but he spits in your face and continues screaming about how evil you are. Or you can get evil karma points by telling Cromwell to get help and stop abusing chems and you're genuinely delighted you murdered his God causing him to commit suicide 72 ingame hours later, which triggers a script for his wife and all of his cult members to commit suicide 72 ingame hours after Cromwell
