What do you call these kinds of games?

Walky Talky Shooters?
>>

“X with RPG elements”
>>
I'm not a huge fan, but ME doesnt really belong with that group.
>>
>>3849723
>Mediocre gameplay
>Huge focus on story, characters, writing, voice acting, dialogue choices etc.
>Incredibly fleshed out universe with tons of lore to discover
>Choices matter
>Characters have arcs and come and go and have their own lives that exist outside of your orbit
They're all essentially the same game
>>
>>3849726
Yes, and no. New Vegas plays differently from Mass Effect, but it does have overlap in some regards.

>New Vegas plays differently from Mass Effect
The combat gameplay is always the weakest and least important aspect of any of these games. It's irrelevant.

Yes, I made the thread before. What's your point exactly? There's a forum somewhere calling your name, hall monitor wannabe.
>>

>New Vegas
First person Open World RPG
>Mass Effect
3rd person Action RPG
>Outer Worlds
First person Open World RPG

this, but without RPG at the end

Picrel is the real FPS/RPG. Games you faggots listed so far suck at being both FPS and/or RPG.

>I don't like it so it doesn't count
Stop being childish. What's next? They're the same game as planescape torment?

>Outer Worlds
>First person Open World RPG
Well, I would call it First Person Shit. Also, at most quasi-open world, we get several medium-sized open locations, for true open world it would have to be a single very large overworld map which you can travel through without loading screens. Some minor locations separated from that are okay, but TOW lacks overworld due to it being space game.
>>
Is mass effect still worth playing? Or will it be outdated? I never played any. I love fallout. I just kind of assumed mass effect would be a shooter on rails with gay reddit language and humor. Sassy characters and shit.

Action Roleplaying Games. ARPG. Doesnt matter in which perspective they are. All that matters are: real-time combat (with or without pause), interactive world and objects (minimal like in ME or sub-immersive like in NV, even better if immersive), and roleplaying elements (light or heavy).

Out of the three you posted, NV is the best overall. ME does stand to get some improvements, but in general is well-rounded (except dialogue - char should say exactly what is written in the option, and terrain traversal - you cannot even jump, let alone jetpack). OW can do with wholesale removal of level-scaling and having bigger, expansive environs.

Still goes into ARPG. Just because you hold a gun and shoot doesnt mean its a first person shooter. Stalker is a first person shooter. System Shock 2 is not. Too many RPG elements.

Nah.

RPGs OP Sucks At.

I agree that it is far more RPG than Action, that's why I listed it as good example. The point is, even with that it's a decent shooter game when you play it with casul classes like navy and marine.

>Is mass effect still worth playing?
I bought it for a few bucks and finished it in around 15 hours. I thought it was good, so if you're interested then go ahead and give it a try

You call them New Vegas, Mass Effect and Outer Worlds.
