Greedfall's on sale, but so many of the reviews talk about how bad the quest design is. Is this accurate?

greedfall is classic eurojank actual 7/10 good not amazing.

It's a mid game, gets tedious or repetitive at some point in the middle. Fashion is cool, itemization acceptable and writing bearable. I bought the deluxe version for like 8 or so and had fun with it. The main is a diplomat afaik and my diplomat was armed with a trusty hammer and a six barrel gun. I respect diplomats armed with hammers.

It's a walk & talk game. The combat and RPG mechanics are an afterthought.
The story and quest design are decent (ending notwithstanding), definitely better than post-BG Bioware. I don't think I played a better written RPG from the past decade. It's rare these days that you are presented with several dialogue choices in an RPG and at least one of them is something rational you can agree with.
There are hints of of wokeness but they aren't so in your face that they're impossible to ignore.

I wouldn't say it's nothing. The game is pretty up it's ass with the noble savage angle. Personally I could ignore that just fine, but the real problem is it's a game that does nothing but have you walk back and forth while dealing with an extremely limited enemy variety
I just don't think there was anything good enough about it to really be worth someone's time in the first place. It's just a series of flaws I would ignore if they actually felt like they paid off.

I quite enjoyed it, unlike most ITT, but it does have glaring flaws. The combat was really fun to play around with, but you can get a ton of abilities that make it almost too easy, and the enemy variety is poor.

There are good quests, but there are also lots of awful "Go here and talk to someone/kill some trash mobs then come back". As much as I enjoyed the game, there was a quest (99% sure it was a side quest, but still) that almost made me quest. It was something like half a dozen rallies of

>Talk to an NPC
>Go back to the questgiver
>Talk to them
>Go back to X location
>Talk to the exact same NPC
And it just repeated. No combat, no dialogue options, and a loading screen between areas. Don't know what the fuck they were thinking.

The story and companions are some of the stronger parts IMO. Kurt is boring, but the rest are cool, Petrus is particularly great, add your cousin is a really fun NPC.

I know I said combat can get repetitive, but the skills are enjoyable nonetheless. At least in the tech and magic trees, the warrior tree was kind of lame. I never got tired of using stasis on enemies mid-attack and blowing them the fuck out with a point blank rifle shot afterwards.

I'd recommend at least trying it to see if it's your speed. Some people can tolerate jank, some find it endearing or authentic, but the vast majority of people don't like jankiness and this is a very janky game.

That's true. The very listed and very basic enemy portfolio isn't the worst, but there's no reason to fight. Fights are samey and rewards aren't, well rewarding. You don't need the purple tier weapon, the green tier suffices for almost all tasks. Leveling is scaled, so what's the point? I've heard gf 2 is turnbased, just how incompetent is their management?

Ture enough. Plenty of low hanging fruits the devs ignored. Budget restraints weren't the problem. Game could've become a 9/10 with the given funds alright.

I've beat it in 33 hours and thats because I was rushing to the end after about 25 hours in. The combat was enjoyable for me but what pissed me off royally was the whole "forest people good civilization bad" narrative because it was too on the nose with natives constantly going "HELP I AM BEING REPRESSED" like whiny bitches. The character I made also looked nothing in game as in the character creator, basically you need to bleach your character while making them because in-game they turn into a nigger. The game also doesn't do very well with the "you're playing the diplomat" thing because I never felt like I had to keep good relations with the different factions and I didn't like most of them to convince myself to go through their shitty quests so that I can have them help me in the boss fight. I'm pretty sure I fought the final boss without the help of the sailors faction.

And as the other anons said the game may sometimes look gorgeous but for some reason they made it have a sepia/desaturation artsy instagram filter over it most of the time. I looked up mods to fix my character which were none of but according to some guy on the internet if I could extract a specific file and edit it and put it back in some .bak archive it'd fix the issue but I never made it successfully and stopped trying after fucking the game and making it crash on launch a few times. Also the only fixes for the shitty graphics were sweetfx presets which all always 11/10 times absolutely fucking terrible in every game and I honestly support beheading the faggots that use this and ENB

I was thinking of Enkidu myself, but I feel he isn't really an example of the noble savage so much as an example of the fall of man from an animal state, Garden of Eden style. Forming tribes and using language is still part of the path of self-consciousness.
