Why? What was the point?
>>3854360Play it without gambits, then.
>>3854360>didn't play the game: the post
>>3854371>intentionally handicap yourself and ignore an entire mechanic of the game to make it more interesting. That's just bad game design.
>>3854379>make it more interestingdidn't work anyway
>>3854371Better to not play it at all. >>3854360FFXII, like most FFs, is just a spectacle game. There's no point to them but watching things that happen.
>>3854360development hell so they cheaped out and used what 11 had built. The optimized way to play gets boring for sure. Just make a bunch of paladins and ignore most abilities.
>>3854398>Just make a bunch of paladins and ignore most abilitiesThis was my favorite playthrough of FFT. Part of knights + white magic. The first battle where you save A*gus was pretty hectic, since you were expected to only have squires and chemists, so didn't actually have any knight equipment available yet.
>>3854360>What was the point? So I can focus on the atmosphere, music, locations and lore, and not have to worry about the moment-to-moment combat needs. it's kino of the highest order.
>>3854360ff12 is genuinely the only final fantasy i have ever gotten into
>>3854360No JRPGs have good gameplay, you play them for the story, setting, art direction etc
>>3854553>No JRPGs have good gameplayMaybe if all you've done is slurp Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy sludge like a good little consooooooomer piglet.
>>3854557>provides no examples to the contrary
>>3854565And cast pearls before a hog such as you? Don't make me laugh.
>turn based RPG has all the challenge in the preparation and strategy>FF12 cuts out the tiresome inputs and successfully develops a system that keeps strategy and fun, removing tiresome inputs and having natural movement unlike ff10Exactly what is the problem? FF12 is the best game in the series for a reason.
>>3854371that's what I always do when I play this
>>3854583You don't know any, huh.
>>3854595>FF12 cuts out the tiresome inputs and successfully develops a system that keeps strategy and fun, removing tiresome inputs and having natural movement unlike ff10Really poorly structured thought, full of subjective valuations. Meh, FF threads have really gone to pot.
>>3854360Babby’s first programming I wouldn’t have minded any of it if the game itself was actually interesting. No game has ever left as bad of a taste in my mouth after finishing it than FFXII. It was a colossal disappointment in every feasible metric except for it being a technical marvel. It’s easily one of the absolute best looking games on the PS2.
>>3854360>What was the point?Trying to do something different, maybe it works maybe it doesn't, can't get offa this trainCrazy, the balls on those devs
>>3854360ever played Xenoblade?
>>3854360>Singleplayer MMOERENSHOR BROTHERSASSEMBLE
every female party member had an incredible assxiii was a major disappointment in this regard
>>3854702Agreed, I think graphics peaked with FF12
>>3854702>>3854983>vaanabs.jpg
>>3854789XB has a lot more input than FF12, it also helps that positioning actually matters
>>3854583So you don't know?
the best FF game, combat system is JRPG turbased shit perfected
>>3854690Value is an inherently subjective concept. Cure your autism.
>>3854595>fundon't
>>3855003I think the difference is that XB battle input is all about optimizing your pre-decided flowchart. If you picked the wrong flowchart you have to die, rebuild the team, then start again.FFXII is about re-arranging mid battle. Change your buff priorities, change your damage output type, switch out a party member, use your mob-clearing gambits instead of single target, interrupt gambits with forced item usage of early heals.
>>3854360A top 3 ff game and probably the last great one
I never did figure out how to make Steal work and stop after the boss runs out of items.
>>3854679How feasible is this? I assume you don't play with gambits turned off entirely. Seems like it would be a huge pain in the ass to have to keep ordering your characters to do basic attacks on mobs every single turn.
>>3855995I mean... thats how all the older games played
>>3854360Zodiac vs original?
>ff12 "fans" who hate 13,15,16How? I don't understand. They play the same. I can understand drawing the line at ff10 but I don't understand 12. If you like 12 you should like all that other shit
>>3856085You can't auto 13/15/16 like you can 12
>>3856091Which people are telling people not to do in 12 in this very thread
>>3856085Ivalice
>>3856095whats supposed to be so good about it
>>3855780XC doesn't have flow charts outside of topple locking later on in the game, skill cooldowns don't synchronize akin to something like FFXIV rotations
>>3856085I like all those games, including 10
>>3854404Based gambit enjoyer. Why do people think pressing A to attack 99,000 times in a row is enjoyable or somehow makes you more intelligent or tactical than a gambit user. Gambits are much more interesting to see what you can make your party handle automagically. The optimal way to use them is drive your self insert MC manually and program the harem with gambits. Feels much more lifelike that way and less like you are shoving a hand up everyone's ass like puppets as in most party rpgs, along with the additional tactical complexity of using gambits to handle every situation including the harder boss fights.I wish they had taken off for all party based rpgs but people can't enjoy complex things apparently and always need it dumbed down. The "complex" type of thing autistic masochist people pretend to enjoy? Why it's POExile and their stupid tiny % based trees of bloat so you can press A to fill the screen with atomic blob clearing bullshit and call that tactics. This game, GW1, even DA2 (although the rest of it was shit) and ironically POEternity 2 all had forms of modularly constructed party combat via skills and or ai approaching these gambits, but none so pronounced with both as here.Gambits are a treasure of an RPG element unfairly thrown on the dustbin of console plebian history. Why do you even want a "party member" that is a soulless automaton devoid of life that does nothing but follow orders like a pure robot? Programmable ai solves this problem in a fun way that adds depth to the game and allows better immersion to focus on your MC.
>>3856135>Why do people think pressing A to attack 99,000 times in a row is enjoyableBro... you like... just don't get it man? I need to press that X button... I need to feel like I'm like... REALLY PLAYING THE GAME™... otherwise why am I even playing it at all man...
>>3856135DAO did it too but they made it so you have to spend skill points for more tactics...I don't kklnow what that was
>>3856177I remember DAO as being too basic (although still the best game in the series) for gambit style AI, but maybe I just missed it or don't remember. It was closer to KOTOR/NWN out of all of the ones that counted, which were DAO and barely DA2.If there are other RPG games with gambit style parties I def. want to know about them.
>>3854996>absSeemed more like bodywork or a tattoo of sorts
>>3856097XC 1: using Melia? Follow the chart. Didn't work? Switch to the Shulk team.XC2: Input element super attacks in order, cash in with chain attacks. Didn't work? Re-optimize.XC3: Wait for the chain attack. Win. Didn't work? Gain levels.
Play New Game-. Too many normal difficulty shitters in this thread.
>>3854679Same, it plays exactly like the prior ones with ATB.
>12 and 16 play the samelmao based retard
>>3854360It's a build autism autobattler, similar to Ogre Battle but zoomed in to real time tactical with pause instead of strategic.>>3856135Based "my favorite game mechanics + me fetish + my power fantasy" enjoyer. You are a gamer & a nobleman.Add incest to the harem & it's perfect.
>>3856085>15 plays the same as 12
>>3854360I would love if we got this combat system back but fine tunes. Ff 12 is my favorite ff game easily
>>3854371this. or go play Unicorn Overlord without altering anyone's moveset/gear
