Tactical discussions of Ivalice Chronicles. Lover of the old FFT, but the new game has been rebalanced. How are we all adapting? I just started the game and have just rescued the Marquis. My old go to strategy was to teach every character teleport, which was a time mage skill for only about 600 jp. In the new one it costs 3000 jp. Talk about inflation. Now I'm stuck wondering if it's still worth it. Have any good surface based strategies you like? I'm tempted to just calculate everything, but I'm also worried they may have been rebalanced too.
I never bothered with teleport nor calculator. Calculator just bores me. I prefer the tried and true strategy of dual-wielding with +3 movement to sprint around and slaughter everything fast. It still works perfectly. I barely used magic either, it's not really necessary. Early game is can help you out but later it's fun to just run up and slash everything to bits then be able to sprint away. Nothing beats auto-potion with X-potions on everybody still, most other skills tend not to be worth it.If they had Dark Knight I'd be spamming that across 4 characters with one dedicated to healing (maybe) or some type of magic depending on the level. Also having fundaments as the secondary skill is still the best because half the time you don't engage enemies for a few turns so you just use focus over and over to get insanely strong, while Ramza uses tailwind/yell to speed himself then other members up. You start getting at least 1.5 turns before you engage enemies and you can always keep away with +3 movement if you want to continually beef your team up (if you even need it) before interacting and killing everything.I love the game but the meta is so simple and easy.
>>3856899I wonder if move+3 got trashed by inflation too after the rebalance. I don't have the bard ability yet, so I won't know for a little while.I always found obtaining the bard and dancer classes to be frustrating. Men make better fighters, yet Bard is the culmination of the mage classes. Conversely, women make better mages, yet Dancer is the culmination of the fighting classes. In the old version, calculators were incredibly powerful, but were near impossible to train because their speed was perversely low. The way around that was to dance/sing, which set a constant timing to actions and allowed them to capture JP/EXP between their turns.
>>3856870Construct 8's voice is so pure. She is my waifu.Teleport's vertical height nerf and JP cost is fine. Now you have a reason to use ignore height, Jump + 3, and Fly.Can someone check if jump stat is still capped at 7?
Does fft has a ng+?
>>3856870Is solo possible?
>>3856870>adaptingThe fuck are you talking about lmao
>>3856986>Teleport's vertical height nerfWhat's that?
>>3856870Should i play this or the original one?I tried it once on an Emulator and didnt get into it so i want to give it a second tryWhat are all the changes in the remake?
>>3857709VA and QoL stuff like running away from random encounters and retrying battles faster.
>>3856870Damage Split or HP Restore is great with anything that increases HP or reduces damage.Equip Armor on Monk, a Robe of Lords on a heavy armor user, or anything which halves elements are some synergies.Usually I went:* Squire - Gained JP Up, Accumulate, Move + 1, maybe throw stone, heal, and dash for early game or waking sleeping or confused allies.* Chemist - Potion, High Potion, Phoenix Down, Safeguard & Move Find Item before chapter 4.* Knight - stat breaks, maybe parry until you get something better, equip armor, equip shield.* Priest - Regenerator, Cure, Cure 2, Raise, Esuna, Protect* Wizard - level 1 spells, bolt/ice 2 for weather & some monsters like squids & goblins, flare, frog for grinds, Magic Attack Up can be great with steal heart & all other spells.* Monk - chakra, revive, stigma magic, wave fist, earth slash, HP restore reaction.* Thief - All Steals, Move + 2, Poach.* Oracle - Chicken, sleep, confuse, don't act, blind is game breaking with a cape & abandon as it doubles all evasions.Once you have HP restore, chakra, revive, & and a priest you are invincible if cautious. You can have everyone surround the monk on even terrain & chakra/accumulate to JP grinding after you kill all but 1 enemy. You then drop that enemy's brave to 10, break speed and attack stats so their damage is minor, then grind away.Spillover JP will let everyone get a few goodies from each job. Your work is done once you get this set up.Jump + 3 let's you jump across gaps easily, but iirc jump was capped at 7. If it's higher here let me know.
>>3857699Used to completely ignore height, you were only limited by horizontal movement. Now the range its like a projected sphere around the character. It's effectively pretty useless IMO.
>>3857863I looked into it, you're mistaken. People tested it and it was just a weird translation of the description.
God damn modern UIs are so soulless.
>>3857872This. Why can't they make older UIs just transition faster instead of modernizing them in remasters.
>>3857872What is soulless about it? I do miss the wheel for job classes but I like the timeline in battles.
>>3857784>Thief - All Steals...How are you using the thief's steals here? Are the steals to disable enemies, to acquire rare equipment, or something else? And by what part of the game are you needing these skills by?>>3857863>>3857870I can confirm this. I taught teleport to one of my guys, and he completely ignores height in the new FFT Ivalice Chronicles.
>>3864858Steal Heart + Magic Attack Up + high MA = 100% hit rate CharmSteal [gear] + Brawler + Attack Up + high SP = 80 to 90% hit rate steal gear
