I want to play a Harvest Moon-esque game. Ideally 3D, doesn't need to have farming or combat. Any recommendations that's not fucking Stardew Valley?
>>3863789Mechanically it would be horrifying, yes. But it would also be quick, if not instantaneous.
>>3863789Rune Factory 3, 4 and AzumaDark Cloud 2Dragon Quest Builders 2
>>3863789A harvest roguelike would be comfy
>>3867720ADOM has a farming mechanic, where plants spread by cellular automata rules.
>>3863789How about the series Shitdew Valley borrowed all of its ideas from a.k.a Rune Factory.
>>3867939>what is Harvest Moon for the SNES
>>3863789My Time At Sandrock is your best choice.
>>3863789Remake of Grand Bazaar came out recently and it's an incredibly good game. Other than that, Rune Factory - you can try 1 or 2, but only if you didn't play anything else from the series, improvements in basically all mehcanics between 2 and 3 are so big, that it's vvery hard to play them after playing any other installment. Also, what >>3868212 says, I was really surprised how good was this game.>>3867952To be honest, SDV plays like HM DS, I think it's the closest comparison.
Animal crossing? I played the first one as a kid and it was alright.
>>3863789Azure Dreams, modded using adrando.com>pseudo-3D>dating>no farming>turn-based combat>town buildingI just came in to post "Rune Factory 3 or 4" actually, but I'll be different and say Rune Factory Frontier after RF1
>>3868476How does adrando work? I went there and I am intrigued! Can I apply his to Azure dreams on my FPSE emulator?
How the hell did ConcernedApe NOT get sued into oblivion by Nintendo?
>>3869131It patches the .bin disc image on your machine according to the mods you've selected on top of the page and makes you "redownload" the patched .bin. You play it by pointing the emulator to the original .cue (your newly downloaded .bin must have the same name as before)It wants specific Redump-matching image, get it from myrient or from any other Redump collection (assuming you want to play the PS1 version).
>>3868476>Rune Factory FrontierThis is the first Rune Factory I've ever played, and the only one I've ever enjoyed enough to complete, even with the retarded-ass Runey system. I'm just glad I was able to learn about it and stabilize it before I softlocked my game. I tried 3, 4 and Tides, and all of them just had really bad pacing issues—I would play Fronteir for hours on end, but all the rest just started to feel like a chore after the first few sessions.
>>3869271Nintendo didn’t make any Story of Season games.
>>3863789Ironically, the best combat-less Harvest Moon type game that's not Stardew Valley is Doraemon Story of Seasons : Friends of the Great Kingdom. But it has no romance, so it might not be interesting to you. You might want to try Rune Factory 4.
>>3867720UnReal World
>>3873378This shit was far better then I expected it to be.
>>3874080Extremely based game.
>>3863789Rune Factory 4 is probably the best, just in sheer amount of content, especially unique dialogue.I've been playing My Time at Sandrock and it is pretty good at scratching that itch. The farming is dogshit, and there is this layer of chinese jank that makes some things a bit obtuse. Otherwise it's a competent crafting/social sim. Compared to the SoS games that have been shat out recently it is a 10/10.>>3869271this might as well be a bot post. Absolutely brain dead.
I haven't played the new one, but fantasy life kind of feels like something similar, only a lot more basic than something like rune factory
>>3875776>I haven't played the new one>Fantasy LifeLmao, avoid it like the plague. The OG Fantasy Life was a fun exploration/action RPG based around multiple crafting/combat vocations. It was a fun way to waste time, but I wouldn't call it a "life sim" on par with Harvest Moon or Rune Factory. The new Fantasy Life is, somehow, an utter disgrace, and none of the original development team was invovled. They basically just revived the IP to capitalize on the current farm/life sim craze, and turned it into the most grindy, soulless, gatcha-esque bullshit you've ever seen. I haven't been so repulsed by a blatant cash-in sequel in quite some time.
>>3876491That's kind of surprising to hear. I can only imagine how a game with such basic mechanics could get that fucked up, but I wasn't about to buy it anyway.
i liked graveyard keeperdont strave
>>3867720Elin. Also you can do this
the guild 2:reniassancetravellers restkynseedpotion permitatomicropstales of the shire
>>3881122I thought The Guild was a town management thing
>>3881140the main gameplay loop is harvesting materials and crafting items to sell. not really a town management like sim city. you can only ever control one or two people.
>>3863879I wish i had gotten dark cloud 2 when i had a ps2. I think i would have liked it more than ffx
>>3881152The only problem I have with dark cloud 2 is that I just sort of hate the invention picture thing. It never felt intuitive to me.
>>3877317I tried getting into this because I like a lot about it, but I wish you could just ignore all the base building stuff. It's such a drag to go from traveling all over to get trained in weird skills and raiding dungeons to having to put some houses up at an abandoned mine
>>3881122I honestly prefer The Guild 1
