>gameplay is pure grind>needs you to take notes and draw maps to get anywhere>its one of the best RPGs ever and has a magical aura that none can matchthis game, and I've even mentioned the spellbook and cloth map. it stands alone
>>3864559*not mentioned. oops

>>3864559Warriors of Destiny is the best Ultima.
Kino of the highest order.
>>3864908Ankhs are Egyptian symbols.
>>3865026This is the absolute truth. Knowers have been awaiting a true successor to U5. We may wait centuries.4 is good too though, and is what got me into the series.
any mods? I want to be able to recruit sherry
>>3865198fuck off chuckles
>>3865050Most Christians, at the time, would not have known that.Hell, most Goths a little bit after that, did not know that.
>>3865731>Christians in the 80s didn't know that ankhs aren't a Christian symbolBruh
I never played this game but I came here to say that I love the NES version's sprites. That's it.
>>3865731>would not have known thatDid you not learn about ancient egypt in school? That's like the core of history class.
I refuse do believe that Lord British made any games that are worth playing in current year +10.
>>3865785Let me guess. You're American, so you have no idea what life was like a thousand years ago. To you, a thousand years ago is literally when the pyramids were being built. It just all kind of collapses into "ancient times" for you as soon as it's older than about three hundred years.Hint: schools weren't a thing for the peasantry. Only a few dozens of people in a given region at a given time had anything to do with a formal "school" for most of history. And they didn't have reliable history textbooks or documentation on just any old topic they wanted to find out about.
>>3865799>>3865801Bot posts.
>>3865801No I'm British, I literally go to pubs older than your pedo-loving country.
>>3865816Bot post.
>>3865820You can't call anything that disagrees with you a "bot post", faggot.
I'm a zoomer who likes older games and emulate a lot but Ultima is one series I have never touched, Wizardry has always been more appealing. For context I've played Wizardry IV, VI and VII.If I wanted to get into Ultima, which would you recommend and what are some reasons you'd recommend it? One issue is for older games a big part of the appeal to me is how less dumbed down the combat is and I've heard complaints that Ultima was a bit primitive. The closest thing visually from what I am seeing that I have played is the first Ys. The overworld does remind me a lot of DQ and early FF too.
>>3865759NES version is its own thing. Unlike, say the SMS version which is basically the PC version but with streamlined controls.
>>3865833It's because it has no relation or sense in it, that's what makes it a bot post. It doesn't disagree with anything. Simply none of these posts are coherent.
>>3865835The OP game is very unique in the sense that it was an answer to people criticizing games for encouraging immoral behavior like killing and stealing. So it's all about trying to become a better person and embodying virtues to achieve some sort of enlightenment, and you have to engage with a morality system to beat it. That would be the selling point I guess.
>>3864559What's the best starting profession?
>NOOO YOU MUST BE GOODGarriot is a faggot hack, the only good games were the Spector games
>>3867354>>NOOO YOU MUST BE GOODThis but unironically
>>3866194Shepherd
>>3865835Ultima I is the best starting point. Simple gameplay and controls that carry on through the early series. II may filter you. III is great, but may filter you with a grind that seems overwhelming if you don't think a little outside the box. If you can't get into IV after at least finishing I, the series is probably not for you at this point in your life.
