Has anyone here played TOW2 and enjoyed it?How much better is it than the first one?

Making a convict granny
>>3866028Playing it now. It feels identical to the first. Sometimes dialogue makes no sense. My example is "What are you doing here?" My response is "Just, uh...what are you doing down here near the sewers?" Guard response, "Protectorate is making my head spin and needed a break. Don't let the matriarch know." I respond with, "Why not leave?" They respond "There are a bunch of saber things (can't remember monster name)". "Don't worry, I cleared them out." Then he leaves. No shit, that was the dialogue. Guy watched me come in through the tunnel and then stopped caring after I said "Just, uh...what are you doing down here?"It's just like the first.
>>3866028I kept playing nu-bsidian games despite knowing this company has gone down the shitter talent wise, but tow2 is where I'm gonna cut my losses I think
>>3866403>Guy watched me come in through the tunnel and then stopped caring after I said "Just, uh...what are you doing down here?"because he's a dumb mook who got caught bumming off work. this text flavour is perfectly okay and even better if it gives you options and you can catch him out with one.it's more disturbing that you were willing to buy the game and think this instance is bad
>>3866028Its painfully mid.
>>3866028Are they using the same engine and content pipelines as the first game or have they "upgraded" to UE5?
>>3866521its UE5
>>3866515I miss when games could just be alright. Modesty is dead
So far the game is better than expected. Way more roleplaying options and solutions, better combat, better traversal, better level and world design, better quest design, more tools, exploration is improved.I also like how they made weapons more distinct, like revolvers can rapid fire from the hip which pistols can't.>>3866403>It feels identical to the first.Absolutely not. The amount of improvements to everything and things they added is immense.
>>3866503>it's more disturbing that you were willing to buy the game and think this instance is badYou think he didn't just watch it on youtube?
Are there any good RPGs that double as space adventures?

The knee popping noise is funny and makes stealth gameplay interesting after years of ES-alikes. And that’s why that trait is good.

Done with Paradise and it's very middling, i doubt i'll continue playing.
this is so doa its incrediblethey managed to pull second concord
>>3866499i heard writing wasnt good in the first Outer Worlds. Is the second one this bad?
just finished it as a dumb character:had fun 7/10game is much better than the firstquests aren't that interestingbeing able to influence companions in their quests is nicei bought extremely few items and had tons of money and items left overi liked granny the mostbesides uniques traders don't have interesting stuffmost uniques are pointlessi haven't found an idiot ending like in the firstbasic tribarrel shotgun is insanely strong and can be turned into a sniperthe rattler shotgun revolver is opinteresting lore drop at the end of the game doesn't get resolved at all, which pissed me off
>>3866403>It's just like the first.Agreed. I'm now a couple of hours into the game and the first world feels like an asset flip of the first game. Most of the missions make me feel like I've played this game before. The only thing that has markedly improved is the gunplay.
I think Inez is hot
Playing through it right now, enjoying it much more than the first one some of the dialogue is DREADFUL. I regret taking the auntie choice gal, I want to vent her out of the airlock. I like Niles, I like the knife chick, surprisingly.PTATH

Do you think this or Tainted Grail is more worth checking out? I feel like playing a newer RPG but it feels like my options are aggressively mid vs eurojank
>>3867387It was flawed but fun worth a torrent at least.
>>3867387Tainted has a demo. I tried it and I liked it - nothing special, but ultimately decided I had a backlog to clean up already.
>>3867304It's getting some discussion on /crpg/, Anons actually like the murder hobo surprisingly enough
I let the relay crash in the first town killing everyone and following reactivity ensued:everyone in westport had broken dialogues. I didnt sabotage them so they remained in the settlement but now theyre all generic npcs. fast traveled to landing pad and inez threw a shitfit, calling me a psychopath and left the party. I shot her in the head but she was unkillable. talking to her again she smiled and said I'm a good commander and thanked me for helping her out with her side quest.
So how is it? Is the game as boring as the first one?
So, is Obsidian just doomed to mediocrity? I enjoyed Pillars Of Eternity for what it was. Kotor 2 had better roleplaying than 1, but everybody just talks about the story in that game. While I respect New Vegas, I never really cared for the gameplay. Similar to the Elder Scrolls games, it was this unsatisfying middle ground for me where it wasn't arcadey or >realsitic enough. Maybe if you had skills/abilities you could use in combat, and do dumb fun stuff like wall-running/wall-jumping I would have enjoyed it more.In a way, they're like Piranha Bytes. They seem to tackle styles of games that are too big for what they want, and they keep trying to make the same type of game.
>>3867615It's just Outer Worlds 1, but called 2. Weapon usage feels better, that's just QoL though.
>>3866028>The Woke Worlds sequelEven Tim Cain refuses to sweep the floor for this FELTED game series.
>>3867624>Kotor 2 had better roleplaying than 1, but everybody just talks about the story in that gameWrong, vermin bugman. I literally cannot bring myself to replay KotOR - I only played it twice as a child before KotOR 2 came out - because KotOR's gameplay is unbearably shit compared to the sequel. The story improved in the sequel as much as the gameplay did.
>>3866028Does this game have notable mods yet?
>>3867690The fuck are you talking about? The gameplay was nearly identical.
I keep getting distracted by Dr. Venture's voice coming out of random NPCs. If you're going to get one of the dude's behind Venture Bros as a voice actor you should at least have him play a single character, his voice is too unique to use for a bunch of nobodies
>>3867624It seems so. I thought they were intent on making mid level games but here they go charging $70 for it which implies ambition.
>>3868123I knew a recognized that voice from somewhere. He is the only good voice in the game.
>>3866857>watching streamers>watching videos from clippers>watching clippers who make videos with thumbnails like thatWhy do you live your life without standards?
>>3867002>I regret taking the auntie choice gal, I want to vent her out of the airlock.Part of some of the faction characters arcs and how you can influence them is that they can go from brainwashed supporters of said factions to abandoning them. For Inez one is her abandonding Auntie to go freelance because she becomes disillusioned with them in her personal quests. It's a similar deal with Aza and Tristan.
>>3867624It's the best game of its kind since New Vegas. Fallout 4, Starfield, Fallout 76 or the numerous cheap, janky games like Tainted Grail are so far below Outer Worlds 2 it's not even funny. If you want to judge that as most of these games aren't very good that's fine, but OW2 is definately better than them.
>>3866028It's a big improvement on the first; I like it. Two criticisms though.>only two factions to choose from, no independent option>Level cap is 30, so you only get 62 skill points to work with, essentially forcing you to min/max to pass skill checks
>>3868341>>Level cap is 30, so you only get 62 skill points to work with, essentially forcing you to min/max to pass skill checksThis is not a bad thing, just not something players are used to. In too many games you can be a generalist, get companions to fill in for skills or use stat items so you can pretty much pass any skillcheck that comes up, which means there are no actual builds or replayability. It makes whatever skills you choose to "focus" on not matter. You should not be able to pass all high difficulty speech, engineering, lockpicking, hacking, medicine, observation, science, etc. checks with a single character in a single playthrough. The Backgrounds and Traits can sometimes compensate for that to allow you to choose or pass some checks depending on which you picked. While the balance maybe isn't perfect, too many modern RPGs allow players to just pass almost all checks which devalues any creation or build choice you made and makes replaying pointless.
>>3866028It’s no masterpiece but it does a pretty fucking solid throw for a modern RPG. But my god it’s doing poorly
>>3868330The fuck are you talking about? It's complete shit as well.
>>3868370You make a fair point. I suppose I'm just frustrated because I've gotten used to being able to lockpick in these kind of RPGs, and I can't do that in OW2 because I can't afford to waste any skill points in Lockpick.
>>3868577Compelling, educated and rational argument. This is why I come here.
>>3868605But enough about the post anon was replying to
I just finished the first zone and I think I'm done. It feels like Avowed with a sci-fi paint job. All the "exploration" really comes down to a few small buildings scattered around the map. Combat is mediocre and there are like four enemy types and guns in total.
>>3868990>I just finished the first zone and I think I'm done. It feels like Avowed with a sci-fi paint job. All the "exploration" really comes down to a few small buildings scattered around the map. Combat is mediocre and there are like four enemy types and guns in total. Each planet introduces more weapons types and has uniques with even more distinct behaviors. Weapon variety is not an issue in the game. The first planet is the least interesting one, but I'm not sure you were expecting when it's the same as any other game like this.
Is it just me or are most weapon mods fucking uselessAnd most perks for that matter, why even really put a single point into sneak or medical? Just a very generic experienceAt least it's inoffensive to play, and I really appreciate that there's no bullshit like encumbrance
>>3869012>Is it just me or are most weapon mods fucking uselessDepends. Silencers are good for stealth builds, all aim mods are good, ones that just reduce recoil and stuff are good, plasma and shock mods are good. Some mods like double fire rate with lower damage or sawed-off I never use. Armor mods are much more impactful.>And most perks for that matter, why even really put a single point into sneak or medical? Many of them are good, some really impactful like you can unlock pickpocketing, being able to hack robots, more dialogue options. Some unlock interactions in conversations and in the world. Some like sneak gets more value on higher difficulties and can still come up in interactions. Medical is also better at higher difficulties, can tame creatures, inhaler upgrades and has some of the most interactions for conversations and in the world in the game.>Just a very generic experienceVery strange comment. I can't think of many other games like it, especially when it comes to the level of reactivity and roleplaying. If you're comparing it to like New Vegas, that's the point.
I actually think this game would have been good, had they turned it into a linear shooter. The first time I had fun in this game was 15 hours in during the quest in the N-Ray range.
>>3866028That armour looks pretty cool. Shame about the monkeys.
>>3869016Dorado and Cloister are the best planets in terms of design, missions and content.
>>3869015>I can't think of many other games like itIt's literally fallout 3, which is itself oblivion/skyrim
>>3869024The closest is New Vegas and the only ones doing games like this is Bethesda and Obsidian. Bethesda's last games were Fallout 4 (10 years ago), Fallout 76 (7 years ago and veyr different in a bad way) and Starfield (which was bad and infinitely worse than Outer Worlds 2). Skyrim came out 14 years ago. Only one of these is also set in space and none of them have a setting similar to Outer Worlds. Many things and advancements set it apart from these Bethesda games beyond this. Space settings are incredibly rare not just for RPGs, but games as a whole outside of spaceship sims.Calling it generic makes no sense.
>>3869030>Calling it generic makes no sense. My guess is that retarded esls think generic means cheap/bad
>>3869030>was bad Sure> infinitely worse than Outer WorldsI have no idea why you keep saying this. It's terrible as well. The writing sucks, the gameplay is bad and it's just boring to play even at its best .
>>3869046>I have no idea why you keep saying thisBecause it's true. You're clearly irrational and biased anyway, so I don't have the energy to waste arguing with someone that unironically calls Outer Worlds 2 a bad game. Especially since you probably think Fallout 3 and Oblivion are amazing games.
Fallout 3 and Oblivion are both good games though
>>3869052Even if you think that, both are heavily flawed games with a lot of problems which games like Outer Worlds 2 doesn't have. So calling those good and Outer Worlds 2 bad makes no sense. The combat, roleplaying, writing and level design is all worse in those games. It's not that those games are bad, but if you think they're good while calling Outer Worlds 2 bad puts that persons character into question.
I liked Outerworlds 1 and I liked Starfield up to a certain point, the ship building was top tier though. Outerworlds 2 isn't as good as the first, its still a 7/10 game which is good, not great.
>>3868050No it wasn't.>no forced shit class start>better balance, crafting, far better level design, generally one of the the best gameplay-story integration examples in history of RPGs
>>3869030>>3869024>>3869024I dub this genre, Elderout
>>3866400Just finished up, glad I gave it chance since I didn't like the first one. Marisol is best girl!
>>3869597>Marisol is best girl!Nah that would be Aza
What's the fucking point of exploring? I never find any interesting locations or decent loot. Clear out the same monster cave/bandit huts and wow some crafting supplies and a revolver I have 15 of.
>>3869601To chase the possibility
>>3869601What are you on about? There's good loot and interesting areas even on the first planet (Dorado and Cloister are better) that are optional.
I'm up to the third planet and haven't found anything approximating "good loot"I guess I picked up a silenced sniper rifle
>>3866572>I miss when games could just be alright. Modesty is deadIt's design. Or painful lack of it that makes obsidian games so unplayable. Just look at the op image, who would want to play that? Characters have zero personality.
>>3869628Are the characters in your pic meant to have personality?
>>3869618If you haven't found unique armor and weapons that are good, you're either not looking around much or you don't know what's good. Or even just lockpicking/pickpocketing if you don't explore a lot. One of the best guns in the entire game the Auto Hacker is on the first planet.
>>3869628Let's be real, Mass Effect had the advantage of having multiple alien races. The humans in ME series were all bland apart from Jack. The companions in Outer Worlds 2 is are fine, only the robot is boring as fuck. Niles is better than I expected and has a dash of Garrus to him. Marisol is fine, but is a bit too profesional for my liking. Aza is a murderhobo and probably the best design visually of them all.Inez and Tristan are the ones that start out a bit grating since they've been brainwashed by their respective factions, but along their companion quests they become pretty good if you push them to challenge their ideas so they wake up from the brainwashing.
>>3869642I find every uniqueThe only one I haven't scrapped is the sniper rifle from the station
>>3869597>>3869600Nah that would be VAL
>>3869648So you scrap some of the best armor and guns in the game? While sticking to one of the worst weapon types? Ok. Well then, that's a you problem for not understanding how good they are.
I'm on the 3rd planet. I think I fucked up taking the ADHD flaw. Should I just restart so I can put my points in stats I actually want and not have to be a jack of all trades? I kinda want to be a sneaky scientist hacker that uses robots do do his bidding.
>>3866499i don't know how you can say that having played pentiment (maybe you didn't)
>>3869696NTA, but most weapons in this game just aren't practical unless you love getting overrun by enemy hordes while you're trying to reload your weapon. I've been using a plasma pistol almost exclusively since the second planet and it works just fine against every type of enemy.
>>3869724Ranged weapons with quick reload, high DPS and a bit higher mag size are the best.So the light revolver is bad, but light pistol, heavy revolver, assault rifles, machine guns, shock rifle, shock machine gun, trench shotgun and shit are great.
>>3869724>>3869730Marksman rifles are good too, especially with the damage boosts you can get from perks.
>>3869717Brother you're over halfway through the game and you want to restart?
I put maximum points into speech and observation and to be honest I barely notice any difference. There's an occasional speech option, but it never changes anything
If you didn't select the "flawed" flaw then you're a pussy
>>3869876Its actually not bad since you be focusing on 2-3 perks anyway.
>>3869876>Flawed but no Profligate Spender or Easily DistractedFor what purpose?
>>3866613>things they added is immense.lmao settle down, it's definitely an improvement from the first but it's not "immense."
>>3869880I haven't triggered them because I only focus on a few skills and I don't buy anything
>>3869892Fair. I noticed the trigger on Profligate Spender is a little unclear, I triggered it the first time by spending ~4K, ended up reloading for something else and then couldn't trigger it again until spending 12k. I like it though, it's a fun way to change how you play the game.>never buys anything>kleptomania>only 19k bitsHow? Do you just break everything down for crafting?
I honestly don't know why I bother picking up or scrapping shitI have 400 cloth
>>3869903>Do you just break everything down for crafting?yes, literallyand then I don't craft anything because there's nothing worthwhile except an ammo top-up now and then
>speak to tunnel foreman>"well, you can't help unless you can see through this rock and tell us what's on the far side!">use N-ray and see protectorate on the other side>"well, you can't help unless you can see through this rock and tell us what's on the far side!"yeah OK thanks game
Dogshit game. Combat can be fun, but don't give a fuck about the story or any of the characters. The dialogue and writing is shit. I made it partly through Dorado but I'm done with this game. Same thing happened to me with Avowed.
>>3869915>don't give a fuck about the story or any of the charactersSo like all of these types of games then. Or are you gonna sit here and tell me you were super engaged in the story and characters of Skyrim?>The dialogue and writing is shit.I'd argue it's pretty good, but my problem is that it's a bit restrained. Some of the comedy would've landed better if they committed more to it, especially if they pushed the dark comedy angle. But if you don't want to play more that's on you. It's the best game of this type since New Vegas and one of the best as a whole.
>>3869915The writing in Avowed was pretty good, though.
>>3869907Because it's there.>>3869909I figured, I think I had 20k in creature parts by the time I finished the first planet, heh. I like it, though, a crafting-only playthrough would be interesting.
>>3869914Huh, it worked fine for me, although the foreman sends you back to her boss.
>>3869914A guess is you need to be close enough and look at them long enough for all the enemies to be marked on the map. Or you just reload a prior save and retry, which you should have multiple of anyway. The quest structure is>talk to commander>go to the dig site, talk to the person there, look through the wall, talk to the npc there again>talk to the commander>return, the dig site is attacked, kill the enemies>return to commander for rewardKind of a poorly structered quest with too much back and forth. Part of it being because I imagine they didn't have a good way to handle the wall getting dug through or blown up, so they had to get you to move far enough away so as not to notice they just deleted the wall model.
The strikers chanting is the first bit of dialogue I've enjoyed in the entire game
honestly do vendors EVER sell anything worthwhile? They have ammo, consumables I don't need, and armour that isn't any better than what you pick off the ground
>>3869962>The strikers chanting is the first bit of dialogue I've enjoyed in the entire gameAuntie quests tend to be the most enjoyable for me, since they tend to make fun of corpos and be more absurd, like the Mantisaur commander.

>>3871620Do not go melee
Honestly you don't even need to "spec" gunsI got up to about level 25 with nothing but observation, speech, and lock picking (which admittedly includes some combat bonuses)

>>3871626Just hard, maybe it's my bonuses but combat is now trivialised. My shotgun one-shots almost everything
>>3871622Spending points in the gun/melee trees makes using it better and gives you more options. You don't "need" to, but it's better on higher difficulties. The game isn't very difficult on Normal, since you tend to outlevel enemies from all the sidequesting and exploration you do.I do think spending 1 skill and perk point to get another weapon slot is nice so you get 3. I also think that going deep into both melee and guns is redundant.

I literally haven't swapped weapons since I picked up Last Whisper, it one-shots practically everything (on Hard)
It's surprisingly good. The big put-off is the price - if this had released for 50 bucks, people would be way more forgiving of the crappy sidequests.

Finished the game, doing most stuff in the game, mini reviewpros>is very much an rpg, with lots of choices, reactivity with lots of things feeling like they matter and impact the world>writing and dialogue is pretty good>not being able to be a jack of all trades and do everything is good, makes your skill investments feel more relevant>most skills have high amounts of reactivity, some more than you'd expect like medical, science, engineering and observation>decently long at around 50-60 hours for a more completionst run>faction unique radio music is nice>combat is pretty good in terms of how it plays and the weapons>level design is pretty good>humor and satire worked pretty well, rarely cringecons>none of the characters, dialogue or factions were that memorable>some skills, traits and backgrounds are clearly better than others. speech is best by far>the sub rosa faction feels like it had content cut, not on par with other factions in terms of content>would've liked more enemy typesn/a>companions are better than you initially think and can develop in different ways, but i wouldn't rank any of them amongst my favorites. inez, niles and aza are better than expected. val sucks though>planets are a mixed bag. some good, some meh>you're rarely faced with a tough call if you have the stats or exploration done, often giving you a "best" option. might put off some>game quickly becomes too easy on normal if you do side stuff and overlevel and overgear yourself, hard or very hard would be betterMuch better than OW1 and one of the better first person RPGs like this to date, but it's also clearly somewhat of a budget title and not at the scale of a Skyrim or something.

Can I get a quick rundown on why Obsidian and Tim Cain had a fall out after The Outer Worlds and why he refused to work on the much inferior sequel, The Outer Worlds 2?
>>3866028How well does it match up against the 3D fallout games?
>>3872711Why do you expect people on a board that knows nothing of game development to have insider info that would most likely be personal and between him and a select few at Obsidian. He's a very senior dev, but not a great programmer, not a good designer (doesn't even view himself as a designer) and problably isn't a very good director. So what's left for him to do? He probably just wants to use his name to get consulting gigs on multiple projects either for variation or because he prefers to be more of an idea guy.
>>3872723>How well does it match up against the 3D fallout games?Better than all of them quality wise, apart from New Vegas in terms of writing, characters and quest design.

I played the shit out of OW1 and preffer it over this fucking game I have buyers remorse this fucking sequel is nothing like 1>Attributes that give you buffs such as reload speed/swing speed+, Critical damage+, Etc. >Skills can go up to 100 or 150 with dlc but you can unlock good stuff from the minimum 20 in different skills, you get 10 per level>Almost every corpse and container has plenty of loot from bullets to gear you can wear or easily scrap to repair your own or sell it if you have the carryweight Pretty fucking gay OW2 has nobody drop you anything other than materials for crafting. >No Goy you have to craft the bullets because... YOU JUST HAVE TO OKAY? Also weapons aren't common so you can get fucked and not have one of each element to switch on the goPlayed the first planet so far fucking terrible, shops don't have heavy armor, you can't specialize in pure dps meaning every fucking common mob is a bullet spongeARMOR IS USELESS AND MELEE IS SHIT
>>3873642Funny thing to be triggered by, you want a metric fuckton of trash loot because you like busywork.Ammo drops were reduced to make you want to swap between weapons more and craft/buy ammo more, instead of effectively just having infinite ammo. This is a good change.>weapons aren't commonIs this a joke? You find them all over the place and even if you didn't you can just buy them. Stealing is also an option.>shops don't have heavy armorAlmost certain the shop in the first town Fairfield has heavy armor and you can even trick the shopkeeper to look in his backroom to steal it from the shelves.>can't specialize in DPSExcept you can. Fire rate, more weakpoint damage, crit increase, elemental damage, charge conversion are all mods that increase DPS. Even if that's not enough, which it should be, you can level up guns/melee skill.>ARMOR IS USELESS AND MELEE IS SHITArmor is very useful, but if you play in melee don't use light since evade only works against ranged. For that you want raw armor value or damage reduction %. Many armor mods or unique armors are good. The unique light one in the crabble cave is good and right by the landing pad.Melee is good, but a few points in it to unlock perks is recommended if you plan on doing it. Melee works well for stealth.

I was surprised after some Cloister exploration that the game has TECHNOLOGY for the characters getting snowy feet. Also saw some corpses that were there before have the snowed in textures over them. It's a nice touch.
>seeing this rare poster after doing the mental refreshness facility questsHits different and very creepy. Cloister really has such good atmosphere. The lost in snow BGM playing together with all the warheads going off in the distant, grey sky. Slowly seeing all the massive machinery yourself and realizing that yes this entire thing is a gigantic super computer covered in snow that they build into this icecold planet. Lots of the scientific logs indicate that the plane is slowly warming up. I really like speechmaxing. A shame they don't have all the food and potions for timed statboosts in here like Avowed. Guess they were both in dev at the same time and the chance of porting those things to the whole system was out of question.

Seeing the glass barrier from the other side of this mega structure is really cool. Also GODDAMN CRABBLES ARE EVERYWHERE lol
>>3872473>writing and dialogue is pretty good>none of the characters, dialogue or factions were that memorableCognitive Dissonance
>>3875132>Seeing the glass barrier from the other side of this mega structure is really cool. You should drink the water
>>3875152The word you're looking for is contradiction. Cognitive dissonance isn't what you think it is.But there was no contradiction. The actual spoken words and dialogue is well written. But the characters, dialogue and factions rarely have anything that sticks out and is memorable.Let's take Fallout 4 as an example. It's dogshit in terms of story and characters for the most part, but then there's like 4-5 memorable questlines/quests because they stick out in their absurdity. One is a ship crewed by robots that wants you to fix their rocket ship so they can go on their journey, but if you help them they just fly into a building, but that changes the map so you can now go to the top of that building to the ship.Another is the Silver Shroud one where you can roleplay as a The Shadow/Batman type super hero, where the protags VO can ham it up and play the part.In Outer Worlds 2, there's like 1 mission like this that stood out and involved a Manticore being the commanding officer. The rest are just competently made and well designed quests basically. Fun to play with good level design, roleplaying and variety. But does fixing a zyranium leak at a factory, sneaking into sentinel hq to find evidence or doing a murder mystery at a facility stick out in my mind years from now? No.
>already stole his quest reward item before talking to him>it shows up as optionlol I kept it secret from him and just cashed in more bits as reward instead. Sad I couldn't deliver him his final package because you needed brawny or science to get to his pals corpse.
This is the first 20 speech test I encountered. I gooped all the frozen soldiers to get their loot before. Gonna reload and see if she can actually bring them back to life since there is more of a peace treaty down here.
>>3875397Hm nope she doesn't figure out a solution for reversal in time you fix the Planet Computer. You can freeze hr in though if you want. Not worth collecting all the mats anyway because Treasure Hunter gives insane amount of extra bits, throwables and ammo. And it even works on poop and nests because those count as containers!
Is the setting a bit more believable in the second game? Or is it still just corporations being comically incompetent and evil for no reason? Do they at least have customers now?
>>3875446Didn't play the first game. All 3 factions are well written full of faults in the systems but also filled with people just trying to live.
>>3875397There are several 20 speech checks towards the end. One I think is required to convince the bad guy, which also requires multiple pieces of evidence, other skill checks and the right choices.

>>3875607They're garbage curse/blessing deal most of the time. At least in 1 I only bothered to pick em because a perk gave you 5% DMG UP per flaw you picked
>>3875613It's about the flavour
I think it would be really funny if they added an ugly flaw and every conversation started off with people telling you how ugly you are
>>3875611So the setting is still shit? That sucks.
>>3875613Many of them are mostly beneficial if you manage to trigger them in the first place, and most of the rest are at least situationally useful. There are very few that are outright bad, and most of them exist either to make things more difficult/annoying for the player (kleptomania) or as jokes (sungazer) .
I'm Kill on Site with the Order since I gave the archive to Ainties Choice. Is there anyway to get the Order to be my friend again or am I fucked for the rest of the playthrough?
>>3875877>I'm Kill on Site with the Order since I gave the archive to Ainties Choice. Is there anyway to get the Order to be my friend again or am I fucked for the rest of the playthrough?Wait 3 in game days and aggro resets. Might want to check if you have a bounty too after those 3 days. They will not be "friendly" so some quests might be locked out for that run if you didn't do them already, but they won't attack you.
Oh the 3 rifts in the spider infested cliff just lead to the locker I already looted hours ago by maneuvering around and up the mountaina nd thenc arefully dropping down with a welltimed damage reducing double jump. >>3875607It's a cool way to further build your character and make them more unique as a build yeah. Very welcome since you only have 2 equip slots in this.
>a big fidget spinner for the autistic math cultlol
>>3875607>>3876005The flaw system is like a dynamic difficulty modifier for people that think it's too easy, except it doesn't strictly make you worse and you get something out of it.
That was a very fun and tense final boss dialogue. I am really starting to dig the possibility to talk the final boss down after this and Avowed.I'd say this dialogue was more nuanced and stressful but Avowed has you literally talk the boss out of not existence by losing faith in her god, which is so rad it is hard to beat at a conceptual level.Played the game for 106 hours and enjoyed it a lot. But as was noted before, it feels like this was supposed to release before Avowed that addressed some smaller issues of the system by adding charms, statswing potions, and extra skill points from quests.
Just finished it, been taking my time with the game desu. It started off slow but it becomes fun when you get off the first planet and can go do anything you want.i took the easily distracted flaw early on so I never had the skills that I needed to easily bypass stuff with hacking etc but it was a fun playthrough, I have no motivation to do another playthrough though
>>3876353there's literally zero reason to replay the game
>>3876723>there's literally zero reason to play the game
>>3876723>there's literally zero reason to replay the gameThe game is balanced so you can't spec into all skills and do everything in a single run. Flaws, backgrounds and traits can also change how you play.
>>3876822Yes this is true but how different is the actual game if you spec a different way? Like I said I took easily distracted flaw so I was always a jack of all trades and didn't struggle at any point except at the start with Vox Relay. I helped aunties choice with the archive so I guess I could do a replay and focus on a few skills and side with the Order but then again how different is the game? Does it even warrant another replay? I might replay it in a few months time since I need to finish Ninja Gaiden 4, Marvel Cosmic invasion is out at the end of the month and I still haven't progressed much in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. I will probably just uninstall OW2 now ive finished it. Same happened with OW1, really enjoyed it when playing it but when its over its over
>>3876841>Yes this is true but how different is the actual game if you spec a different way?I would argue you would need to spec and play differently.i.e. if you mostly>used guns, never melee>rarely stealthed>specced into speech, hacking, lockpicking, sciencethen for another run, you'd want>use melee primarily>try to stealth as much as possible, but don't reload when you fail and kill them in melee>spec into melee, stealth, medicine, speech. with enough points into lockpicking to unlock pickpocket to tie into stealth/thief>maybe pick at least 1 flawI personally never instantly replay any game, to leave a bit of time so everything isn't as fresh in my mind.
Just started the first one. I gave Supernova difficulty a serious attempt because I like the hunger/thirst/sleep and follower death mechanics, but fuck me I just die no matter how prepared I am or where I go. It's quite obvious it's not designed to be played that way and it's just an extra mode shoehorned in for turbo autists who already know the game inside out. I just turned it down to Hard and it already feels more "correct"./blog
>>3876854I thought that too until I realized it's tuned for frequent use of the slowmo vats thing. I didnt find it useful on lower difficulties so I kinda had forgotten it exists.
>>3876918>slowmo vats thingwe called it bullet time in my day ;^))it only lasts like 2 seconds and i didn't find that it helps much when it comes to not dying.
>>3877004the gauge doesnt go down if you don't move or shoot. it lets you freely line up shots and shoot 3 times before depleting. if you have high enough weapon skill (I think 20 or 40) these shots will cripple enemies based on where you hit them.
I completed the entire game without ever using the VATS thing or any gadget really (Except when mandatory)
why would anyone play melee in this game? It's not even fun to do
>>3876918so i switched it down to Hard and it's almost too easy now (why do so many games do this?) and if that wasn't enough i then quickly discovered that you can tinker the fuck out of your gun, seemingly infinitely, by just putting money into it at the workbench??>>3877031>the gauge doesnt go down if you don't movehuh... i intuitively wasn't doing that because i was trying to not get shot...
I was playing Murder on Eridanos add-on, and in the top island part after a random fight found a gun on a body that was level 99? It's the only gun I've ever seen that was full level, must have been a mistake. It was an empty level 99 gun. I've installed all those gun perks and made it my mainstay weapon.
the outer woraaaaaakkkk.
>>3877858I looked it up and it's always been there as a static drop when you get there. I figure it's been done as a easter egg on purpose because a game load screen for Murder on Eridanos has him as a gunslinger, which is the level 99 spawn weapon.
>>3878097It's not the exact pistol with a larger barrel, but it probably the closest one the game has to it.
>>3877233Stfu cuck and play your gay sniper crouching in your cuckshed
>>3877232I just found the shield way more useful in fights. Throw a grenade, call alli attacks, snipe the head and pop a shield for all the aggro coming in was my go to flowchart. My autism also made me remove every corpse. And I mean EVERY CORPSEEven the ones that were already there before and weren't shown on the minimap. Partly to not research through cleared areas but also yeah autism.
>>3877232>>3880763Shield is the best unless you have companions/gear/perks boosting the bullet time. If you do, then the bullet time becomes OP.
>>3880783The other dimension scanner is good if you want to expose weakspots for sniping.Bullet time just feels like a relic for combat but I do liked its usage for parcour puzzles.
Uninstalled and removed the game. Never playing it again.
I feel like exploration and itemization are far worse than Avowed, which is surprising to me. I thought this game would have a similar structure to its world design but everything is ugly and all I ever find is crafting materials. All the mods I can craft for weapons just make the weapon do a different damage type but worse, or add a scope.I haven't found a replacement weapon in 15 hours, I've just been using the same chainspark cannon or whatever it's called. And it was already just a minor numerical upgrade over the electric weapon I was using before getting it from a bossfight.Even the combat is worse than Avowed. Which was a 6/10 video game in its own right. All the RPG systems around having multiple solutions to problems are super basic and scripted and really just make me want to replay Deus Ex. I miss doors with damage thresholds.I'm on Praeton now and the only reason I'm still playing is that I've had a series of bad weeks and this dumb shit is the only thing my brain can handle. Pretty disappointing.
>>3876822I honestly wish there was just a little more perks/skill points. Just a teensy bit. My first run is lockpick/hack/speech and I'm just not feeling it and keep stopping to play a different character who's melee/sneak/engineer. I also just think the game lacks a little oomph in most departments to keep me intrigued.
>>3881923You can spread yourself more thin. Only skill you might feel is mandatory is Speech at 20 since that is how you get the technically best ending. Every other skill is not needed to raise above 11 and certainly not 14.Some like Lockpicking you can get a lot of value out of just by putting 1 point into it and taking the pickpocket perk.
>>3881940I looked this up because I was worried about wasting 20 fucking points into hack/lockpick. I was told that "that" ending (I don't know what it actually is) requires 17 hacking or lockpick for something specific. And that there is also 2 20 lock pick doors somewhere in the "archive".
>>3881943I got the best ending and kept my lockpicking and hacking at 14 and sat on 8 unspent towards the end to spend on any last minute big necessary checks.Nothing apart from Speech at the very end is "mandatory" to go beyond 11 or whatever. Even then you can get the next best ending if you didn't kill DeVries. The best ending is mostly about having gathered enough "evidence" throughout the game, passing some midrange non speech checks and a final 20 speech check. As well as not annoying the final boss during the convo.Higher rank lockpicking and hacking is mainly just for various bonus stuff.
>>3881948Well I appreciate your helpful insight anon. I think I'll stop flip flopping for now and start investing into gun or melee because holy fuck any forced combat makes me want to kill myself.
>>3876854Alright, I'm back with an update to my blog.I've reached Groundbreaker and I'm missing the survival mechanics and the difficulty. On top of that, I thought the version I was playing wasn't just a "complete" version, but a remaster (fucking really?) which is known to be a turd and is giving me more and more graphical problems. So I've decided to take whatever knowledge I have gained so far and start fresh with the regular edition on Supernova difficulty.Since I kept dying the first time, I will put all my points into health/armor/medicine and damage, for me and ESPECIALLY my crew. I'll be tinkering the fuck out of my gear, so I'll need that 50% tinker discount. Hopefully that will make the game more enjoyable in the long run, because right now I'm just runnin, gunnin, lootin & not carin. Feels like it's meant to be that type of game anyway, but I want to try to make the most of it. Guns break way too quickly.
>>3866028I'm put off these games by the moon head guy. I know that's stupid but it's a bias I'm sticking with

>>3866028I've played it for the first time this weekend. I like the ways the guns work I just wish aimming was a bit more generous. I'm tired of barely missing. Also I wish the geometry actually matched the the visuals. I like hopping around mountains and forcing myself into places in my 3D games.
It's kinda bullshit how armor is split between only the head and body. Also most of the armor is boring and uninspired. Less so than the last game but till

>>3885689Maybe you should stick to tiktok friend
This game has 0 east Asians in it. I couldn't even make myself one in the character customizer.
>>3885689I really can't pinpoint what it is I find so unengaging. The isolated worlds. The skill system feeling very random and limiting/strict. The gunplay is not satisfying or weighty. The melee combat feels unnecessarily clunky, trying to block after a heavy attack takes longer than Niles to find you. The design of the world spaces feel claustrophobic and it's hard to see anything on the horizon interesting to chase after. The story lacks presence. Oh and restricting me to two weapons without perks or mods is retarded. Especially since you can 100% circumvent this by just pausing the game to equip something else.
>>3886269>make game that is so boring that people quit>n-no your attention spanWhy would anyone keep playing the game if it is bad?
>>3886911I think the gun play is fine. I just wish it was easier to see the enemies. Everything blends in together so much that the lizards are easier to see when they're invisible than when they're not. Also the tone should be more than, authoritarianism and capitalism suck. and could probably benefit from being more campy.
>>3887165True, I have the rendering scale set to 100% but I'm convinced it's still lower res than what it's supposed to be.>authoritarianism and capitalism suckThat, plus the fact there's always The Obviously Best Third Choice, means the contrarian in me only lets me roleplay a pure corporate lackey.
