Why don't you imagine using a sensible control scheme?

Yup, I grew up before mouselook, using ALT to strafe, etc. when I was a kid I preferred inverted mouse for a while, and I remember in the late 90s shooter era I was still doing some weird hybrid of inverted mouselook + arrow keys instead of WASD. At some point I just dropped it and went to non-inverted mouse and WASD like everyone else.

There aren't any. After reading through the replies I can safely say that there is no single game that meets your criteria left. The few games that do like skyrim, fallout, stalker, cyberpunk etc you either played already or you are too picky to play.
My advice? Expand your taste in games or find a new hobby entirely because you will find nothing but disappointment with your current approach.

>>
>>3866990
breath of the wild's pretty good about that actually
You do the 15 minute tutorial and then from that moment on you're very free to just pick a direction and go explore, and there's lots of open, natural spaces to go and wander. The game's great at giving you the "oh there's something in the distance over there, I want to go explore and see what that is" feeling.
"You see that mountain?" but actually delivering on it

By being a direct sequel, it does come with "issues" for this specific aspect. There's less exploration because well, you've technically been everywhere already.
It works well as an expansion to breath of the wild, but it's not going to have the same feel as the first one simply by virtue of not being first.

That's because you're used to closely packed maps with markers.

Kenshi doesn't get nearly as much awareness as it deserves. It's not every day a completely new and different idea is introduced to an artistic medium. That game... that fucking game... is something unique. There really isn't anything quite like it. Maybe Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld? Maybe. Supposedly good if you like Piranha Bytes-style jank. It has serious bugs though and for me it keeps crashing because of memory leak.
I have to say though, a Russian team releasing a PB-style game at a time when 2/3 of their potential market will be reluctant to check it out is pretty unfortunate. I hope it sells well enough in Russia to let them at least fix the major bugs.

I guess I'll put it on hold for the time being.
I'm looking for a Skyrim-type game, something along theblines of:
>open world with reasonable freedo to explore
>loose narrative
>character customization
>interactable world, bonus points if there's a crafting system of sorts, can build your stronghold/base, etc.
>first or third person
>combat system that doesn't suck, but doesn't need to be great either
>doesn't have high hardware requirements
I've been thinking about checking out Enderal, dunno if it's gonna be too "we got Skyrim at home".
But basically a game that's entertaining but doesn't require too much brainpower to play.
>>
>>3880684

>>
.>>3866990
Skyrim is the worst game ever and playing it harms you. It should be illegal to play, to reccomend it, and really kill everyone who plays skyrim, you aren't even goycattle, you are just retarded!

Ignoring your requirements:
-Daggerfall
-Might and magic games

-Ark survival (base game; reduce dinosaur count a lot if you want; might make it more interesting and less laggy)

Lords of magic (lowest graphics award and strategy game award)
-Crusader Kings 2 (wrong category perhaps); lots of clicking and events over time rather then exploring

i guess you could get lost and explore vr-chat if you wanted to.

Its not large enough to actually be an open world game, but if you were to download a ss13 version and host your own server alone, you could play for many hours (just no saving possible), and experience a lot; instead of leveling there are all sorts of fantasy getting-stronger methods, and it will just be lonely, but otherwise really nice i think. Especially since there is a LOT to learn; like minecraft a bit, just 2D and more retarded

Anyways it seems like i dont have many ideas and suggestions; i dont know, perhaps its becausei dislike the concept of open-world games

If you're looking for something new, look up Tainted Grail - the Fall of Avalon.

Setting: Fae lands of Avalon, 600 years after the death of King Arthur.
Gameplay: Imagine if Skyrim, Dark Souls, and The Witcher had a baby.
>>
>>3880684
I think Enderal is worth checking out if nothing else. It puts a lot of effort into slowing character progression, so you're scrambling to stay alive more (at least if you aren't careful about exploration), which I think is where the elder scrolls games are best. At high level you're just emptying everything any converting it to gold if it doesn't feel collectable anyway.
But there's aspects of the story that I find kind of off putting purely for the open world aspect of game (the story telling you things are urgent when there's no rush, ending that doesn't let you keep exploring, etc.). Not going to go into detail on that though.
>>
>>3866990
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1159290/The_Bloodline/
Been playing this recently, got it during a sale. It's something between Skyrim, Morrowind, and M&B with a big focus on play styles, it has a story which I haven't finished yet but it's like a budget Skyrim. There's a lot of quirky stuff to make it stand out though, like the grappling hook you can attach to enemies to launch them (very satisfying), a giant rabbit mount and goblins with jetpacks and flintlocks, pretty great if all you want to do is wander around, do quests, find random things, and kill stuff.

>>

Well that depends what you like Op and why you like it. I like exploring a variety of things some of it like digital archeology and others because I am easily immersed into a game and larp and role play in my head for entertainment, I also do not mind procedural generated worlds and can headcanon shit generation away but I understand that it can be an issue for some people.
Some of my suggestions are probably not "RPGs" and some may actually just be you having to roleplay but they may scratch your exploring itch.
Of course all games can be expanded with mods for even more exploring.

Hope at least one of the games peaks your interest hope other anons put their exploring games in here as well. I love just getting lost, one of my favorite things about RPGs

Kenshi - Requires Roleplaying (Personal favorite)
Project Zomboid - Open World survival crafting zombie Kentucky
Dwarf Fortress (Adventure Mode) - Can do anything your auts desires
Escape From Tarkov (SPT) mod - Explore Tarkov
CDDA - Proc Gen Rougelike
Caves of Qud - Like above
Soulash 2 - Like DF adventure mode
UnReal World - Like above but as viking
Stoneshard - DF adventure mode
X4 Foundations - SciFi Mountain Blade
7 Days to Die - Kinda shit now a days but I use to like exploring the dungeons and PoIs.
Terraria - Not really RPG but lots to explore
Haven & Hearth - Exploring player creations
Subnautica - Explore open ocean alien world
One Hour One Life - Exploring player creations
The Forest 1/2 - Explore cannibal Island
The Long Dark - Explore Frozen Canada
Starsector - Explore a chunk of the galaxy
Rimworld - Explore planet
OSRS/RS - MMO more of an honorable mention
Unturned - Roblox & DayZ had a baby
PvE World of Warcraft Private servers - Explore Warcraft world
Wurm Online - Exploring player creations
MMO (Name) Private Server - Self Explanitory
Garry's Mod - Exploring dead servers is kino and sad
VR Chat - As above
Conan Exiles - Explore Conanverse area
Ark Survival - Explore Dino Isle
>>
>>3866990

be honest with you op... The closest to what you want is to get hit by a truck and pray for an isekai. i wasted the last 2 years trying to find a game like you described and THE CLOSEST i got was skyrim with another life mod. Removing the dragon and mainquest makes the game "better".
I hope someone one day to make a game like project zomboid but fantasy. Imagine building base whatever you want and go to explore the world freely.
