So I've been solo developing this game after-hours for few years now... Finally the time has come to release the Steam pagehttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2918690/Underneath_Dwarven_Artifacts/
Hey, this looks really cool. I've wishlisted it. The trailer focuses a lot on the survival and crafting aspects of the game. What is the overall goal? Is it kind of an open world sandbox to mess around in? Is there a story? Towns? Tell us a little bit more about what to expect from this.It looks like it's got a bit of Arx Fatalis in it. I'm definitely excited to see where this goes.
>>3867692>The only way to increase character stats is by eating various food. This feels like it can get tedious
>>3867755Through my development and testing it didn't feel tedious at all, the only problem I have with this system is - it's hard to clearly convey to the players. Guess it's always a problem when you decide on a mechanic players are not familliar with. This mechanic is in fact inspired by a rather niche online game Haven & Hearth by Bjorn Johannessen and Fredrik Tolfand it works well there!
>>3867799Is there a limit to how much you can eat?Are resources limited relatively? Can you pivot to specific things easily?
>>3867692what's with the slow-motion death animations?
>>3867692Will it have big naked dwarf boobies?
>>3867800Yep, there is a limit, you can't over-eat (there is no further penalty of being gorged tho')Resources are limited, but respawn after some time. You can also buy ingredients / food, but it requires earning gold, so playing the game :)Specific location biomes define what resources are easily found there - ie there is a lot of water and lichens in swamp caves, so you can fish easily (fish raise dexterity mainly) and gather ingredients that raise intelligence
>>3867808ah yes the glorious slow-motion, I have a code that triggers slow motion (with a % chance) if you deal massive damage, it's always cool
>>3867809kinda
>>3867692Neat
>>3867799>haven & hearthMy memories of that are gangs of russian players roaming around raiding farmsteads. How close is the food system to Elona?
>>3867692We want the Oblivion remastered audience.
