>game has dialogue choices>actively punishes you every time you don't take the nice guy dialogue choice
>>3867897try not to be a chud, sweaty
Modern developers are pussies and do it completely wrong. The game should mechanically reward you with money, loot, XP, other resources, etc, for being evil. The typical metagaming no-roleplaying RPG player who's following a guide to get all the best results should constantly be tempted to pick the evil paths. Meanwhile, playing virtuously and morally and doing the right thing is its own reward, and that's more than enough.>t. chud
being a bad guy makes people not like you or want to help you. i literally see how this wouldn't be the default outcome unless you're retarded the entire concept that an evil person would even stop the main quest, clearly the most pressing matter let it be for their own safety or power or revenge or whatever the main plot hook is to go talk to random ass civilians to help them with their issue is stupid even if their is a "bad" guy option that feels hammered in at the last second like "i take all of the money" or something
>>3867908also if you be an asshole to people in dialog, yeah people aren't going to like youwtf is even this complaint>im roleplaying as an asocial sperg wtf why is everyone telling me to fuck off
>doesn't play rpgs>posts "rpg" thread
>>3867908I don't want to be patted on the back or kissed on the ass for taking the asshole option. I just don't want to be entrapped into an aborted questline for picking the less cliche choice in a feature incomplete dialogue tree. If there's a "be an asshole option" that gates you from content then there had better be an equivalent amount of content in the game that is unlocked by taking the option as well. Fun content as well, not some preachy bullshit from the developer.
>>3867906Modern games force you to be evil. Modern morality is completely divorced from reality because if people were moral our owners would all be killed.
>>3867906That is fine as long as the devs acknowledge the difference between evil and being a self-destructive faggot.>>3867897>be mildly assertive>the game interprets it as wanting to kill quest giver & starts combat
>>3867954Moeblob is back after getting wrecked here time after timeAnnoying faggot stick to v where you belong>>3867897Its because shitty normies picked RPG games lately, they want to be epic Gallahad so games will provide this opportunity to them (hint: its about money)
>>3868089Nothing is stopping you. Please be a martyr for the proletariat.
>>3868208There's an entire globalist military industrial complex stopping him, lil bro. You can disagree with his ideas but there's no reason to lie.
>Morally good choices rewarded passive buffs to stats>Morally evil choices reward material goodsI like it like this
>>3868159Developers despise any sort of player assertiveness because it's assertive players that deviate from the intended narrative/gameplay routes. Lazy devs will simply not give you any option to protest whereas deceitful devs (the more common variety nowadays) use false choice to mechanically punish deviation. This isn't strictly limited to dialogue or quests either, it's usually baked directly into the character building. You took ability A at level 1 but took ability D2 instead of A2 at level 2? Hope that mechanical interaction was potent enough because you're now MAD and have 25% less stat utilization because you decided to think outside the box.
>>3868263Why does the bucket look so sad?
>game has dialogue choices>they're all just rephrasing the same sentiment and lead to the same outcome
>>3867897it's fun to have psychotic dialog choices even if you aren't making them, just to dangle the carrot in front of you knowing you're a big power fantasy badass
>>3868243>making excuses for the hero losing due to being shit
>>3868340I'm just pointing out a liar on the internet, lil bro.
Dialogue choices that don't have a stat/skill check should, as a rule, have similar levels of merit at all times. If they don't then you are not actually facing a choice, you are just being quizzed by the developer.
>>3868378Choice A:>ayo, gibs me dat for free [GAIN 500 GP]Choice B:>[PALADIN] thank you for your generosity, but the tenets of my faith prevent me from accepting a reward. Safe travels to you.In your opinion, are both options of equal merit?
>>3868382Does the paladin choosing A suffer any tangible consequence or does the NPC just produce 500GP into existence for the player and then return to default dialogue routines? Merit can mean a variety of things: Progression advantages, player enjoyment, content access.
>>3868303>hate newspapers
>>3868089>evil Depends on the morality of the devs. Its not like I am allowed to torment minorities who have no recourse to the law, take slaves etc etc "Evil" choices are just part of acceptable morality, which is why most evil paths fail As anon said, reward me with heaps of cash for being a psycho
>balding character in old JRPG are always the bad guys>currently balding myself>people are losing interest in me and stranger are less empathetic to my problemsMaybe theyre on to something.
>>3870064The heroes are the real villains.
>>3867906>chudIt's amazing that the undesireable rightwing retards actually started identifying themselves with the image/term that is used to mock them.
