Wasn't a remaster of this suppose to get released last month? What happened?
>>
idk idc
op chews his underwear
>>
>>3873381
I thought it was just a steam release. looking at the page it looks like it just comes with fan patches
>>
>>3873725
They always said it's made together with mod creators. Likely they streamlined the installation and put a 20 usd price tag on it.
>>
>>3873381
I could never get used to the ring controls in this game. Totally filtered me.
>>
>>3873988
I remember being shocked that people had trouble with the radial menu, I thought it was fairly user friendly.
>>
>>3873381
Was supposed to come out late October IIRC. Then it missed that date. Then it changed the release date to late December of this year. Now it just says it's coming out Q4 2025. No idea what trouble they're running into, it seems like it should be an easy port.
>>
>>3874144
Companies don't work anymore. They are hiring, making team events and producing press statements. Some interviews here and there.
>>
>>3873988
As opposed to the only other option that would exist? Vertically listed menues with side-submenues? Come on now. Same flavor.
>>
They realised only about 10 people are interested in these kinds of games.
>>
>>3874982
Everyone interested in ToEE already has it on GOG and is already playing the modded versions. I’m the only person who’s played vanilla ToEE in the last 20 years, and only out of spite for Co8. If I’d known about Temple+ I would’ve just used that at the time.
>>
>>3874414
false dichotomy, at least we could have gotten keybinds and more shortcuts, the radial menu was just bad when you need 4 to 5 clicks to do one action + targeting spells + slow animations of enemies the game just does NOT want to be played and when combined with trash mob fights and the weird movement controls it gets really tiresome after 30 min max

for all the sins of the RTWP games at least they were faster paced and more accessible (because they were rts games with a coat of paint)
>>
>>3873381
Check the steam releases calendar. It's happening in a month iirc
>>
>>3873381
Not a remaster. The game in a playable state will just become available in steam, and that's it.
>>
>>3875309
>keybinds
toee has that

>ToEE
>an easy port
>>
>>3875724
Why not? As often, they are using existing mods to cash in. Not even on console.
>>
>>3877554
using existing mods =/= just installing them on top of the game in one click
they're going through the all of the fixes from two mods, then selecting what needs to be ported (not everything is allowed), and then moving exact parts of that custom code to the new version of the game + probably adding a few more fixes of their own
also nobody still has an access to the source code of the base game
>>
>>3877579
>access to the source code of the base game
Game changer. I didn't know. This took the Iwd2ee 10 years.
>just installing them on top of the game in one click
Unfortunately not. Wonder if this will be the case in the near future.
>>
>>3873381
It's out in two weeks.

>Release date is set for December 10th 2025

>About This Version: The Steam version builds upon the incredible work of the Circle of Eight and Temple+ modding communities. The core elements of both mods are already included in this release
>What is important is that not all community-created content will be included for legal reasons. Players who wish to experience that additional material will still be able to do so by adding the Co8 and Temple+ mods on top of the Steam version.
>Improvements: This release includes over a thousand fixes and enhancements - improved performance on modern systems, a refined UI, smarter AI, smoother pathfinding, better stability, and countless quality-of-life upgrades.
>>
>>3873381
I didn't even know it's coming out on Steam. /vrpg/ is finally being useful.
>>
>>3881283
That actually doesn’t sound that terrible. My main objection to co8 was how they shoehorned new “content” into the game, even in the “no new content, bug fixes only” version. Not sure if it’s worth spending money on, already have it on gog and replayed it a year or two ago.
>>
I didn't even know that there was a remaster/re-release coming.

>>3881283
Oh, sick.

How hard is it to mod content into this game?
I'd love to add a couple prestige classes and feats to replicate my tabletop character and see how he would perform in CRPG form.
>>
>>3881326
>How hard is it to mod content into this game?
It's not a modder-friendly game since it wasn't designed or meant to be a platform for mods like NWN.
However, adding new classes to ToEE is what Temple+ guys have been doing for a few years already. Their mod provides basic structure to work with new stuff, and it's documented here:
https://github.com/GrognardsFromHell/TemplePlus/wiki/Python-Class-Definitions
The documentation is not complete though.
>>
>>3881336
>python
Weird.
But I'll take it.
Defining a simple class is pretty straightforward.
Neat.
I can totally work with this. Thank you anon.
>>
>>3881338
If you haven't played the game with Temple+ yet, then you might also want to check its changelog:
https://github.com/GrognardsFromHell/TemplePlus/wiki/Changelog
They've already added 12 PRCs and 6 Base Classes to the game. Maybe the one you need is already there.
>>
>>3881342
The only thing I'd implement that they already added is Divine Metamagic.
Well, all in all, it seems extremely simple to add stuff.
>>
>>3873381
Remasters keep fucking up and making the games worse so who cares?
>>
>>3881351
It's not a remaster.
>>
>>3881289
>Not sure if it’s worth spending money on
If you already have a playable modded version of the game, then no.
>>
just one more week, toeebros
>>
>>3874006
>user friendly
It wanders offscreen constantly and drops the cursor when you chase after it. "functional" is the highest praise it deserves.
>>
judging by their new uploaded sreenshots, finally we have full hd with proper scaling of fonts and the interface

Aaaand... It's out! It's out!
>>
SNEG leeching off more IPs, lol.
The Polish cannot create.
>>
What's special about this game? Compared to other similar stuff like the Infinity Engine games?
>>
>>3888196
Full party creation, turn based tactical combat, relatively faithful adaptation of 3rd ed rules compared to its contemporaries, crafting system.
>>
It seems to be getting somewhat slammed right now on Steam. What do you lads think about it?
>>
>>3888213
it's fine for the price point, plus now you have a way to get the game that's not tied to a dying storefront
>>
>>3888213
Never pay for resold abandonware. Pirate.
>>
>>3888217
>that's not tied to a dying storefront
elaborate
>>
>>3888231
Probably means GOG, though SNEG is itself comprised of "ex" GOG employees who wanted to sell patched abandonware on Steam.
>>
>>3888231
gog has been circling the drain for a few years now, probably won't be around within 3-5 years
>>
>>3888192
>SNEG leeching off more IPs, lol.
there is literally nothing wrong with releasing the game on steam that was never available on steam, especially in a playable state for modern systems, containing all of the bugfixes provided by community during 20 years of modding

>The Polish cannot create.
those are russian company
>>
>>3888393
Fuck off. Repackaging and selling fanpatches while the original developers get no money because transferable intellectual property is a thing is fucking gay.
>those are russian company
Wrong. Founded by two Polish GOG employees.
>>
>>3888406
1) This steam version was created with approval and consultations from both modder teams, who are also properly credited on the steam game page.
If the modders themselves are okay and even happy about it, then why are you not okay?
2) SNEG has also donated $10,000 USD in Co8's name to the Extra Life charity.
