I'm so glad I got to play this game. Pic of best girl.
I chose the Maelle ending that while she's trapped forever in the Canvas, they were also a real functioning civilisation that didn't deserve to keep existing. That last scene had me fully.
Fuck. Deserved to keep existing.
>>3874484That's the bad ending though. It clearly states eventually she's going to starve to death and die. So it will get to function for a little bit longer and then the canvas will be wiped when she dies. The end result is still the same, it just ends up with her dying as well.
>>3874498>function for a little bit longernah time flows differently. the canvas should exist for another 33 years, at the very least.
>>3874482There is no hard choice because the game's writing is dogshit. It basically presents a scenario where only 1 option is the correct one, but then tries to pretend all choices are equally sensible and valid.
There is only one sane option.
Never gonna play this dogshit anime game.
>>3874498she wouldn't die, Renoir would come back to finish the job long before that. the Maelle ending is just a delay to the inevitable Verso ending.
>>3876224Best character and someone who's grief we don't examine enough. The only member of the family warring against the writers for killing Verso.>>3876688Correct. Why don't people realize this? The game tells us that Maelle is a mediocre painter and she struggles to recompose people she knew all her life. It takes the touch of Verso's genuine artistic soul to make them manifest, something he does not do again. Everyone we see in Maelle's ending are horrid facsimiles without a soul.Even Lune and Sciel seem off once they're brought back, drifting from their moral centers as either poor reproductions or soul broken individuals who realize their world is not real and cope by being connected to their creator-god who can give them a false paradise.
>>3874482The ending where I stopped playing right after getting to the paintress. Making me run through all the areas and refight old enemies and bosses again was retarded and broke the pacing.
Saved the Canvas but the following cutscene made it seem like I fucked up
>>3876938nah u didn't. it has potential for dlc ending to make it feel more complete.
>>3874482Daily reminder that Marche and Verso did absolutely nothing wrong.
>>3876938That's just director showing his bias. Like in Metaphor when the trailer and half of the game saying morality is gray, then proceed to clown all over the antagonist ending if u sided with him. Or in Life is Strange when the sequel reveal the gf u sacrificed more than half townspeople's lives for... she broke up with u 1 year later even though the ending choice was split 50/50.
>>3877442Anon, in Metaphor there was a twist in case you didn't notice. The antagonist played you and everyone else. He never actually believed and fought for the shit he was saying. It was a tool to garner support.
>>3877443that's still director bias. It's like saying your presidential candidate of choice is actual corrupt pos. it doesn't directly say your stance is wrong but it's still obviously demoralizing with the other side mocking you saying "see i told u so".
and either way. antagonist ending is still huge disservice compared to SMT. illusion of choice just to tell you "it's undoubtly wrong."
>>3877204They would have done nothing wrong if there were any way to engage with life without escapism.Their problem is that they think escapism is only when video games or whatever. But that isn't what it is. Workaholic bullshit is just as much escapism. So is education and house work and everything else. It's all stuff you are doing instead of other things you could be doing.Or, to put it another way, who is to say what you should be doing with your life? No one else has that right. No one. Don't let other people tell you how to live. It's your life, not theirs. If they wanna tell you what to do, then you can tell them what to do. And surprise surprise, they never like it as much...So what you're left with is the incentive to ask yourself whether what you're doing is actually accomplishing what you want it to accomplish. That's how you determine whether it's maladaptive or not. You can set whatever goals you want for yourself, just don't fool yourself into thinking you're superior because of it. Everyone's goals are arbitrary in the sense that the entire point of goals is to make yourself happy. None of it matters, it's all made up. Yours are, too.And I do mean that. It's made up. It's all escapism. You do not have access to reality. No. No you do not. Your interaction with reality (if there is a reality) is mediated through your personal narrative. It cannot be otherwise for any form of consciousness, by definition. And last but not least, just because it's made up doesn't mean it doesn't have meaning or that it isn't valid. There is no god. Go enjoy your life.
>>3877451No anon, it's that the game had a linear story. It never presented itself as Louis as a viable option, that you could join him, having multiple endings or anything like that. Throughout the game you see him as an extremist where the ends justify the means, no matter how cruel. The game opens with him assassinating the former king, trying to kill the prince and instead cursing him in the attempt to a slow death, murders tons of people including civilians and the list just goes on and on throughout the entire game.If you wanted to "join him", when he was always set up as the bad guy, you are outright a psychopath. It's like getting mad you can't join Kefka in FF6 and calling it "director bias".
>>3877455>illusion of choicesee >>3877463There never was an illusion of choice. If you thought it was you're a retard and a psycho.
>>3877463>you are outright a psychopathmore like I played SMT and there are assholes similar to louis(from both law and chaos), and they have better presented endings.
>>3877485>assholesHe flat out massacres civilian towns to gain popularity (by pretending to save them), he murders and is shown to have murdered countless more in large amounts across the game in locations you go to, assassinates anyone that opposes him, disposes of anyone he doesn't deem useful even under his employ, plans to murder entire populations (like the islanders) just to get the spear, schemes and betrays everyone (his entire campaign is a flat out scam, he has no interest in doing what he says he will), is a massive hypocrite and his ultimate goal is to turn the entire continent and world into 'humans' effectively killing them and turning it into a living hell just so a few "strong" people could wake up to archetypes. The game starts with your goal being to assassinate him and it never changes. If you legit thought you could ally with him you are full-blown retarded. If you wanted to side with him because you agreed with what he was doing, you are a psycho.Using Metaphor as your examples for "illusion of choice" or "director bias" is such an immensely retarded train of thought I'm surprised you can even function day to day.The SMT mainline series was always about Order vs Chaos but is very superficial at best and boils down to "lmao both are bad, so pick your poison". In case you're not aware that is a completely different series too. If anything the SMT series tends to frame Order/Law is the "good"/"best" options despite the flaws, so if anything that series would serve your dumb "director bias" idea better.
>>3874482saved and tried both, Verso is obviously better
>>3877497that still proves my point since it makes all those supporters of him look dumb. SMT at least makes chaos look cool(including 2 expansions for new chaos route), which is much better than what's done to louis ending. And often your main chaos ally is also just as ruthless as louis(and also chaos MC who also kill your "good guys" former allies in cold blood).
>>3877570Even SMT is an illusion of choice. Just look at Nocturne, true demon is the only valid choice for endings.
>>3877646it respects players enough to not have any clown finale endings. meanwhile louis ending is straight up "haha u got nothing."
>>3877570>that still proves my point since it makes all those supporters of him look dumb.No it doesn't prove your point, since you have none.If you mean the supporters in the game? Yes, they got manipulated and played. If you mean some IRL person "supporting" Louis? Then yes they are dumb as shit. All you're telling me is that you were legit so insanely fucking retarded you thought you could not only side with Louis, but actually wanted to. Not only that, you're such a subhuman retard you directly connect it to mainline SMT despite not being mainline SMT.You play as and surround yourself with nice people and the main goal for the game is to kill a mass murdering hypocritical psychopath to save the prince. You have companions which were directly fucked over by Louis too by being the one responsible for creating and sending in humans to kill their town and parents, which ties into said character wanting to help the survivors in their personal story. Yet you still unironically believed you could side with him. You're so inhumanely stupid I refuse to believe you're serious. Because you'd have to be brain damaged to be this fucking devoid of intelligence.
>>3877650>clown finale endings. "haha u got nothing."So you mean every single SMT ending. The endings are blink and you miss them nothingburgers.https://youtu.be/kBIRLZst5-c?si=l9jlnXG1w2qjpnym&t=135
>>3874482Hated this cuntThe game is pretty good, but i really dont like >its just a dream/ nothings real brotrope therefore versos ending is better
>>3874482The Based one.
>>3874482I chose the "don't play this bland as fuck game" ending. Pretty happy with it and don't plan on seeing the others.
Verso ending because bitches gotta go.
>>3874482The real ending because only retards stay in the painting.
>>3874482yeah i love happas but i admit that sciel gets me going too
>>3877463>Hmmm... The villain is too reasonable on his actual motivations alone, so instead of dealing with the moral ramifications of this, I'd better write him as a bloody psychopath that doesn't actually believe in anything, so the player doesn't get confusedFuck Hackshino so much... If you're gonna write Lucifer Char Aznable into your game, then use what actually made him compelling and memorable, you fucking hack
>choose to become gods over worlds you create by using part of your soul>surprised when said world wants to persist after your soul wants to ceaseboo-hoo! you reap what you sow, cry about it you void-faced little bitch while your painted self plays more piano, next life think twice about fucking around with horcruxes
>>3886453The point was that he showed how political figures can lie and manipulate people, while not even believing what they're saying, to get into power. Which happens all the time IRL Look no further than Trump.
