Guys... i cant stop playing this. There is no game that can get me to stay. Ive been trying all kinds, mmorpg. roguelikes, shooter... i keep coming back to this. Am i getting old or there is no other game worthy? Some newer releases may be promising but they turn my pc into an oven, diablo 2 doesnt even get any memory hah. Its pure perfection in all senses.
>>3877128Honestly, I'm the same. I've played every ARPG/Diablo Clone in existence, but nothing touched D1. I have the collector's edition box too. I prefer playing the original D2, since the amazon in the remaster looks like a man.
>>3877153lol, cant u mod it?
>>3877128How do you fullscreen diablo 2?Everything i tried just didnt work lol
>>3877128I think you're just autistic and that's your self-soothing locus of control / safe space, anon. There are definitely better games. Can you name what specific things you like about D2?
>>3877128what's wrong with enjoying a game?
>>3880529It's a Zoomer, anon. You can tell by their inability to properly capitalize or punctuate. They think enjoying anything is wrong. I'm not joking. They suffer a profound anxiety and crippling guilt if they enjoy things because they're obsessed with the approval of others. And no matter where you go online, you can find people being negative. And this outweighs any kind of positive feedback, because culturally the Anglosphere is averse to unmoderated encouragement or support.I could go on, but you get the idea. Children can't enjoy things because they need permission to do so, and they never get that permission. Because adults just assume that you can just... do things because you want to do them.
Its over
>>3883526>t. OP
any good mods? vanilla is a bit boring desu
which one am I supposed to buy?
>>3877153That's a good thing. I prefer the d2 amazon, but the d2r amazon fits into the game.Would a diablo 1 work as trpg? You know, the way it was intended.
>>3883618D2r imho>>3883550You are joking, aren't you? There are countless ones, from lord of the rings to some cartoony mods.
>>3883626>D2r imhoso besides the tranny barbarian there's not many objective faults with it? I don't mean the remade graphics even though I prefer old graphics as long as the game runs smoothbut when I google something like last epoch or poe I know just from looking at it that it's unplayable for me because of the lack of aesthetics
>>3883629>old graphics as long as the game runs smoothIt doesn't, at least not when playing via d2r. Stutters all the time in old graphics, while the new ones work flawlessly.D2r might be the best looking remake. Le is ugly, no doubt. Poe is so much worse looking, despite decent cutscenes.Keep in mind, that d2r is d2, just has a new look. Changing from old to new goes in game via button input.>faultsI can't think of any. Paladin and Amazon might look wonky, I don't mind. Unsure why the barb is a tranny. Personally I favour the looks of the old cast, but d2r chars are serviceable.
>>3883629>there's not many objective faults with it?They keep fucking with it and adding new things and changing the way skills work and such. I dislike that. Turns game into modder fan fiction instead of strictly a remaster of the original.
So I bought Diablo 1 insteaddid the butcher and poisoned water quests so farit's pretty shit, you just click on things and heal with potionsyou also have to go back to town waaaaaay too often and it's tediousnice vibes though I guess
>>3883860Imagine playing Diablo 2 without having played Diablo. Bruh.
>>3883860>you just click on things and heal with potions>you also have to go back to town waaaaaay too often and it's tediousSo like every arpg ever made
>>3883892Would you like monster merchants?
>>3883932I'd like a bag that can fit more than 10 things that's for sureor better yet make it so merchants don't buy your trash in these games so I don't feel inclinded to carry a bunch of trash around and be ok with discarding it
>>3883932I remember an ARPG that came out probably over a decade ago, in which you had a pet that could go to town for you and sell your stuff.
>>3884041>don't buy your trashShould be forbidden. Even 1 gp is more than trash is worth. Merchants should have funds, too.
>>3884042Dungeons battle or what's it called? The diablo game with a donkey? Dungeon siege?
so I'm at lvl10 or so and I have quite a few thoughts but mainly I wanna ask how much should I be hoarding gold? I have 50k and it's starting to take up a lot of spaceI'm running a good axe with +hit and +dmg with the armor of valor which seems bis, I haven't seen anything on oswald worth replacing those.
>>3885832D2? You have a chest.>oswaldYeah, buy gear or spells. Maybe wirt, the kid?If you play warrior, this is ultra hard in the lower levels. Get some spells.
D2 is far from perfect, but ya, for whatever reasons other developers, even some of the original D2 crew, just don't get what made it interesting. Originally D2 attracted people who liked serious or unserious PVE multiplayer, PVE Single Player, PVP in unserious ways like level 15's fighting each other, and then serious PVP among godly characters. There were so many different areas you could spend time in. Min maxing wasn't really done by many people. It wasn't all about just doing ubers. D3 killed basically all that and said no, there's only 1 way to play. Constant grinding, for no real reason. D4 continued that, but then made it 1000x more shameful and gay. Other AARPG's either seem to be in lame settings, or are way too hardcore. AARPG's imo should foster community game play on some level. Two friends just having fun, or 10 randoms fighting just for fun. Or a group of killers doing PVE in elite areas etc.
>>3886013>Min maxing wasn't really done by many peopleImportant, but doesn't fit the time we live in. Everything must be perfect. (nothing ever is)>characters. There were so many different areasNot a thing anymore. Grind until you die.
>>3884042You are thinking of Fate most likely. It would be hailed as one of the best ARPGs if the art direction wasn't so cartoons & fishing wasn't so broken.
>>3885832if you have a lot of gold reload the shop and spend ityou pretty much need a hit+dmg with attack speed on weapon to beat the game as a warrior and there's a good chance you wont ever get one to drop without grinding a tonso you shop
>>3886041My next game will take some from Diablo II and grinding won't really be a thing. Everything will be built to get new abilities that you actually enjoy using. But it's also not going to be like diablo combat wise. More like Zelda or something. Grinding is imo a failure of game design for the most part. I'm fine with time being sunk into something, but grinding being used as a trick to keep players playing is just covering up what is a bad game, imo. That's why even AARPG's do well like path of exile, it's not a game normies even know about on any level. It's lame, and really only appears to lame people imo. "I built a mathematically correct build after 1000 hours of grinding! Now I can start having fun! Oh wait I'm bored, this game sucks. FUCK."
>>3885983>>3886143I'm talking about D1. Is there an oswald in D2 too?I'm done with the caves and reached actual hell or whatever, level 12-13. Still holding on to 100k gold cause he doesn't ever sell anything that makes me feel like parting with it. Was I supposed to level magic on the side? I put all my lvl ups on str-vit-dex.Arkaine's valor seems BiS because of fastest hit recovery, I also have a ring that does that but if I swapped the armor I would have to also swap a +7 to all ring for a hit recovery ring. Doesn't seem worth the trade on top of the 100k for the armor he sells me which will only give AC.At this point I discard all white gear and have to go back to town every couple of blue pickups cause the rest of my bag is gold and a sword I'm holding on to in case I find a good shield to swap the 2hander.
>>3886143also I don't know what you mean by grinding cause as far as I can tell nothing ever respawns and I clear all levels fullyso the game is pretty linear, I just clear the dungeons and do all quests while managing the loot i get the best I canbut I don't see where there is an option to grind besides simply continuing to lower levels (dungeons)
>>3886451>also I don't know what you mean by grinding cause as far as I can tell nothing ever respawns and I clear all levels fully>so the game is pretty linear, I just clear the dungeons and do all quests while managing the loot i get the best I can>but I don't see where there is an option to grind besides simply continuing to lower levels (dungeons)Once you start a game, nothing in it will respawn. The only way to grind would be to start a new game, which would reset the world state and recreate all the dungeons. You're playing single player I assume? You can dump all your gold, and other items, in town, and they will be safe and won't despawn. However, be careful to not unintentionally create a new game, because if you do everything laying on the ground in town will be lost.
>>3886452Also, a fun little bit of Diablo lore for those who weren't around and playing it on Battle.net back in the day. Before D2 came out with its "realms" where characters were stored server-side, which reduced much (but not all) cheating, Diablo was basically the wild west in terms of cheating. Characters were stored locally and could be edited to the heart's content, the game was flooded with duped/hacked items like the infamous godly plate of the whale (GPoW), the king's sword of haste (KSoH), the obsidian ring of the zodiac (ORoZ), and the archangel's staff of apocalypse (AAA), and players would use trainer programs to cheat, including casting spells. It would be common to cast a firewall at the spot in town where players spawned, so that they'd be sitting there taking damage while they loaded in, and would be dead before their modem caught up.Anyway, before D2 added the trade window, players would trade items by standing a screen's width apart, drop their items at their feet, and then simultaneously walk over to pick up the other item. Except if someone used a trainer to cast telekinesis, and snag both items.
>>3886135Yes, that's the game I meant
>>3886449>Is there an oswald in D2 too?Yeah, but he's not doing so hot.
>>3877128devil may cry is 100000x better than this trash
>>3877128>gambling>inoperableSure it is, the operation is called high velocity cranial lead injection. Tell me anon, do you have a previous history of gambling?
