What is the ideal party set up? Party size is restricted to 4 members
>>
>>3880598
Cute fighter girl.
Self-insert male (or female) priest character.
Cute mage girl.
Cute thief girl.
>>
Paladin, party leader, strength warrior, tank
Bard, dex skill monkey (traps, locks, etc), party buffing/support, agile dexterity fighter, illusion/support magic
Cleric, divine caster, healing and buffing, undead destroyer
Mage, arcane caster, blasting and battlefield control/disabling
>>
>>3880598
You usually only need 4 functions, not members, so I do it with less for more intimacy and greater levelling XP, challenge, less overhead.

Damage/Tanking, Priest buffs/heals, Arcane Damage/buffs, Traps/Locks.

You can usually combine functions without much loss in performance in either, and usually some massive synergies that are greater than the sum of parts ex.:

Tank/rogue
Priest/tank
Arcane/Priest

So,

PF: Wrath

Pure tank/damage: Werewolf shifter/IW Barb Self Insert (always male) -Arrives around the same place as a generic fighter but with pounce and barb stuff and a cool model to live out Azata White Wolf style Werewolf protec nature RP
Arcane/rogue/ranged Arueshalae ER/EK (Also to dispel everything with sneak arrows) Wife
Priest/ranged Ember heal/fire oracle Daughter

And get way less XP split for faster levelling.

I do similar in BG3 but just for more interesting difficulty since XP split doesn't matter there:

Cleric/Eldritch Fighter Self insert (always male) -Probably the best MC I've ever made 4 (Light) CL/8 EF just works so well together and isn't one dimensional.
Gloom Ranger Shadowheart Fights for Top Wife position every week
BM Fighter Lae'zel Fights for Top Wife position every week

Alternative:

1 Wizard
female goblin harem (Hello DD2) (Archers and a backstabber)
>>
>>3880633
Actually I misremembered: EF 5 Light CL 7 is the real sweet spot for that BG3 MC.

I think this would be an entertaining party: pretty boy/twink mage, amazon warrior, male rogue, but he's like a gopnik/chav/hick, and holy priestess.

I'd watch these anime.

This is the way, though, with a rotating cast of characters met along the journey who all come together at the end.

I had a Fire Emblem game for the Wii where the rogue/thief character was the best tank because his evasion was insane. With high evasion and skills that blind, slow, or paralyze rogues can become solid tanks.
>>
Is there a party based RPG where you only roleplay one character and the others babysit themselves?
>>
>>3880895
never heard of a dodge tank?

Dragons Dogma
>>
>>3880895
I hate when ignorant plebs comment on anything build related here
>uncanny dodge anti-flank alone makes this worth it in wrath
>next up dex/finesse build
>you're always front lined to flank for outflank, which also means sneak attacks firing off
>debilitation on top of the sneak attacks

And yes dodge tanks across about a thousand other rpgs. Where do these clowns breeze in from, CoD forums?

>>3880935
DD, DD2, Dragon Age 2, FF12, Trials of Mana, POE2, and Greedfall.
>>
>>3880935
in the persona games you only control the mc by default but you can set your allies tactics. starting with 4 i think you can set it to control everyone. i wouldn't recommend playing any of them unless you're a weeby edgelord 14 year old though. to be honest i would categorize them as slice of life visual novels more than occult jrpgs.
>>3880952
the diablo 3 monk was untouchable with a blink strike build. dodge tanks are underrated. high block/dodge/buff plus healing is one of my favorite rpg builds. clerics are often best for it but in some games it's the thief.

I like:
>jack of all trades MC (red mage)
>tanky melee character (fighter/warrior)
>physical damage character (usually archer/rogue?)
>magic damage character (black mage)
and
>tanky melee character
>physical damage character
>magic damage character
>magic support character (white mage/cleric)

Teams like that usually cover all bases and feel balanced.

Buff.
Buff.
Debuff.
Debuff.

No physical damage, no direct offensive spells, no physical tanking, no healing. I will cover my team in 15 layers of shield spells, get your magic resistance down to -20, and 50 rounds of sleep and poison will constantly incapacitate you and slowly chip your life force away.
>>
>>3880598
I ended up with hero, warrior, martial artist and sage in the OG game so I'd say that. Warrior started as merchant, martial artist was a priest for fast healing and sage was a mage.

>>3880935
I think Dragon Quest 4 was the first to do it. Thankfully they made it optional in sequels and remakes.

I would love to see a cartoon or a series with that party:
- Tank/Healer/Priest/Cleric depressed male in heavy armour (like that dwarf from kingmaker).
- Rogue/Ranger (could be any sex) always trying to stay in the darkness or in the shade as if light is harmful to them. They also need to have subtle resemblance of an animal. Something about feline grace and nimbleness, perhaps ape composure and so on.
- Monk, Druid or Alchemist old male. Have to resemble a jew. Not a caricature jew, but a wise, down-to-earth man with a easy attitude to life. One that you could find in Eastern Europe: Poland, Ukraine, White Russia, Odessa.
- Sorcerer or Warlock female. Have to resemble a gypsy, but not incestuous or stealing. You know, that cliche gypsy female fortune teller. She has to be hot.
