The reason this website sucks is because of dumb low effort threads like this. Why not give some context. Form a couple sentences what is it and why it's bad. Posting pics with no engagement is retarded
>>3882584Not OP, but it's Babel Tower from Xenogears. It's a common example of a dungeon where the game's platforming gets annoying for people, since you can drop down a long way, and the random battles can sometimes mess with your jumping. But personally I didn't have much of an issue with it. I remember it being a pretty cool dungeon outside of that element, and the boss fight at the end is fun and memorable.
>>3882584You could just ignore OP's pic and post a shitty dungeon of your own, anon, instead of pitching a bitch fit.The pic is Tower of Babel from Xenogears. It's a toxic mix of frustrating platforming and random encounters, at a point in the game when the boring combat had worn out its welcome 20 hours ago (give or take). Iirc encounters can literally trigger mid-jump.
>>3882584The reason they keep making these bad threads is because you reply to them. You are the problem.
>>3882591>pitching a bitch fitCalm down, drama queen. He's offering light criticism. I don't know why you kids need to make everyone else seem like they are freaking out all the time in order to diminish their posts in your head.
>>3882595I'm perfectly calm.
yes the great crystal really sucks but the lead up to it in Giruvegan is nearly just as bad, it's such a boring intro to one of the worst and ugliest-looking dungeons in the series, still love the game though
>>3882599See?Annoying, isn't it? Deal with content, don't form theories about poster's mental states.
>>3882584That's called a FILTER you filthy casual dumbass tourist. If you have no idea what OP is talking about, the fuck are you posting for? Complaining about your ignorance is only going to make people rightfully ridicule you. Lurk and learn or get the fuck back to your normie safe space
>>3882591>You could just ignore OP's picBut then he'll never learn he did something wrong. I mean, hypothetically, because we all know OP will, in fact, never learn anything, and that's assuming he's a real person in the first place.Besides, why is it that dude's duty to salvage a stupid thread? It could have been way worse and he could have been one of those psychos that goes straight to barraging threads with gore or CP.
>>3882605>normieLiteral tourist meme.
>>3882584>WAAAAAAH BABBY NEED SPOONFEED BABBY NEED SPOONFEEDThe gate we should have kept was the gate to auschwitz so we could keep sending faggots there.
>>3882601it's hilarious to me that japs imprinted on hugh hefner's clubs so much to the point where final fantasy has a playboy bunny furry character who fights in ridiculous high heels.
I never really understood the huge hate for Babel Tower in XG, yeah, there are some scripted encounters outside that trigger even if you’re in air, but it’s still a relatively short section
>>3882319post-game dungeon in the trials of mana remake. a two hour dungeon dive when regular dungeons would take 20-30 minutes, and of re-used assets to less, was not something that needed to be added. at least the witch was cute.
>>3882601The great crystal is what I cite as a good idea (no map, but the area names describe where you are), but an awful execution. The fact every area looks the same and there's no map and the map itself uses crystalese names which are nonsensical and not explained anywhere on top of the gate/switch gimmick (which is already fucking horrible in general) adds up to "I will not fault you for looking up a solution, let alone a map".FF12 has some amazing sprawling dungeons but Great Crystal is a tumor.
YVHV's World from SMT IV:A and Ice Queen Palace from Persona 1
>>3882319i can agree from a gameplay perspective. but from an aesthetic, lore and environmental storytelling perspective, it's top 10 of all time for dungeon design. Babel Tower is the very definition of "show, not tell"
>>3882749The worst SMT dungeon is World of Sloth. Not even anything wrong with the dungeon itself, but just the gimmick of the exit being blocked for 8 moon cycles which forces you to spend multiple hours in real time walking in circles.
>>3882847Honestly, World of Sloth isn't that bad(unless you're not playing on an emulator, I guess). Yeah, the gimmick is rerarded, but you can use that opportunity to grind and overlevel, which is great in my book.
>>3882761100% agree. Before going to Shevat Gears was peak mystery in world and lore. I forgot if the old world dungeon was before or after this but both these two areas were just insane in arousing interest
>>3882847This. Absolute fucking garbage dungeon, one of the worst of any RPG ever made.
>>3882625He didn't say anything like that.
Look at this shit. The squares with a border are teleports to the matching color in the direction you enter them from. Some of them go to different floors though, one way of course. Then as a special fuck you the floor teleports go to different floors if you enter from different directions. There are two more floors connected like this weaving up and down but the last two are more filled with damage zones and wandering enemies that will absolutely kill you.
that one shitty FFXV dungeon where your only weapon is a stupid ring
>>3882980This dungeon was magnificent. One of my favourites alongside B24F in EO3.
>>3882980>hard dungeon = badFiltered
>>3882980The whole stratum is a vertical line. The teleports obey the same colour distance rules as the same-floor ones, except if the distance sends you off the top or bottom of the map you switch to a new floor.
>>3882980you're so fucking stupid
>>3882625>>3882605seek treatment, schizos
>>3882648Wait there was a post game in Trials of Mana? I don't recall that, I thought you just unlocked Nightmare mode or whatever at that point. I would go back and play if there's a bonus dungeon and super boss.
Dungeons in Phantasy Star II in general. Not bad, just exhausting. I grew up on that shit so it's fine to me but I'm assuming you're talking about dungeons we all would hate OP.
>>3882847In SMT Strange Journey Redux the bonus dungeon was pretty bad with all the automatic floor arrows zipping you along and into holes over and over. It just felt lazy and irritating, especially if you accidentally walked in the wrong direction and got fucked by having to ride all the way around and around again.
>>3883341You don't even use the term schizo properly... what is wrong with you anon? At least say something meaningful.
>>3883349'schizo' sometimes means 'delusional'
>>3882625Auschwitz was a work camp and produced synthetic rubber that was vital to the German war industry. They were desperately trying to keep the workers there safe from typhus and alive, bro.
>>3883343Don't, it's ass. Basically just added so you could get the final class advancement added in the remake.
>>3883347Redux a shit I didn't play it
>>3882319The Water Temple
>>3882319Good answer, OP.I'd say any dungeon in Grandia 1
>>3883246This isn't true. The stairs in the bottom left obviously do not teleport you far enough you go past the map to the next one, they'd have to be entered from the top direction rather than the bottom.
>>3883391>3883391Wrong, it's great. QoL added. It's definitely easier than the original but not on the highest difficulty, enemies will fuck you up badly even with all the extra stuff you get. Bosses are insane on a NG+ highest difficulty playthrough.
>>3883561You're wrong. Purple teleports are 30 tiles, or six big squares. If you count it out, that means you appear in F-1 on the 27th floor when you enter from the bottom.
>>3883445I just started that last night, and as immediately charming as the story is I did feel like dropping it in the Sult Ruins because of how claustrophobic the screen is. Navigating sucks and the birdseye view spots seem like a copout. But the battle system really clicked, especially with the rockbird fight, and I love everything else about the game so I persevered.
>>3882319Every fucking dungeon in TES 2: daggerfall. Every. Fucking. Dungeon. They were all the same, with multiple center stairways with an open core. Real fucking shitty of them. Easily to get lost. And every floor had like 20 rooms in each direction. Sooooo the easy way to get through this bullshit was to have a skill which they never fucking brought back because it was OPer than OP: climb. Fucking spoderman down the center core, get what you need to get, climb tf back ho the center core. Avoid all encounters. Fuck yar.
>>3883567Art style, remixed soundtrack, new storyline, Alex are all assNot going to play it just for some extra content and unneeded QoL.
>>3883706Nah, I think they're all great. I love spiraling tangles of mazes for a dungeon.>>3883751>remixed soundtrackthere wasn't anything remixed, though? Just a couple of new tracks added.
>>3882601Worst thing is that the area before that is so cool, so that you penetrate the mists, and arrive in... a generic flick switches dungeon. Then the actually shit one.At least the Pharos after that is god tier
>>3882591>Iirc encounters can literally trigger mid-jumpnah, what happens is that the game starts loading a random encounter letting you move for another second or so, but you can't jumpso you get a loaded encounter, try to make a platforming jump and just walk off the edgei remember listening for the disc to spin up near every jump in babel tower
>>3882605this, no idea why newfags think every single fucking thread is meant for them to vomit their stupid opinions intoif you don't understand the thread you should not be in here
>>3882584>the reason this website sucks is because I just got here from reddit and no one is spoonfeeding me and making it easier for me to shit the place up with my faggotry
>>3882319I hate every dungeon crawler with a grid based design thats not from the 90s or older.
>>3882319Where do I start?>temple of darkness>temple of lightning>temple of earth>Welgaia>Ymir Forest>Latheon Gorge>Meltokio SewersI'm probably missing some. I've played Symphonia like 6 times through but yeah, that game is THAT Dungeon: The Game.
>>3883959Nah, Pharos drags on forever and since you're just watching the game play itself that's a lot of being bored in one location.
>>3884566most of these are pretty good. The only ones I'd bash are the sewers becuase they just have a lot of backtracking in them. Darkness could have the shadows follow you a bit better sure, but it's still a pretty cool idea, and it works out pretty well. All the other ones are just filters for stupid people.
>>3884566I was just about to post about the Tethe'alla dungeons lmao. They're all pretty tedious, though I never had issues with the pathfinding AI of the Shadow fragments in the GC version.
>>3882319thank god for gamefaqs, and fuck this place.
>>3884566I felt similarly about Eternal Sonata. Paticularly remember it having one of the worst sewer dungeons I've ever had the displeasure of trudging through.
>>3884901Gotta use guns against those things, even if it's just a crappy glock with 4 firearms skill.
>>3885059I remember soloing VtmR in melee and the big bads that could one shot you with an animation attack were pretty challenging. Had to get lucky for them to not just eat you.
>>3884566I played this on release and dont remember it that well. What was bad about it? Would watching a YT video convey it?
>>3884566The game had a great OST but it was the dungeon themes I did NOT like. Maybe it's dislike by association
>>3884847I don't think it's that anyone can't progress, it's just that when the dungeon gimmick isthat you have to backtrack through 80% of it to flick a switch equivalent it's hard to have fun.
