Majority of the map is a wasteland with DC tucked away in the corner. No clearly defined roads or paths. This is the way you do an open world.
>>3883065This is literally one of the worst designed open world maps in videogame history. Even the """city""" is terrible and involves way too many subway connections that break it up in a bad way.
>>3883065... But the map you're showing is cluttered with roads and paths?
>>3883071>This is literally one of theOh is it really literally one of the worst like literally omg
Barren wasteland is not a compelling environment.
>>3883120I could in good faith do an extensive breakdown of the level and world design and why it's so poorly design, but we both know you don't care. It's the textbook example of what not to do.
>>3883126>why it's so poorly designI literally don't even care like at all sorry not sorryyyy
This is hardly a fair complaint to levy at Fallout 3, but I personally REALLY wished they leaned more into the DC/Virginia setting instead of heavily winging it for many locations, especially those that outside DC itself.Other than sharing some names, I found it really deflating that so much of the wasteland was just made-up. Not matching actual locales, or even topography in many cases.
>>3883071Boston in Fallout 4 honestly felt much better to explore because it's more open compared to DC, maybe it has less content though
>>3883065>copy pasted metro tunnels >grey rubbleWow, its beautiful...
>>3883146>picrelSomehow, I just know that building was designed and built post-1945. Am I right?
>>3883385https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Enfant_Plazayeah. It's some post-WWII Brutalism
>>3883065What do they eat?
>>3883348Fallout 4 before diamond city is a joy to explore. Then it all falls to shit because of the insanely ugly retro futuristic art style and the completely dead city districts. Would've been better without the city
>>3883418Just stay out of the city
>>3883348Boston feels tiny and unstable compared to DC because of totally necessary open world design. "See that ugly skyscraper, you can climb it", thanks Todd.I enjoyed the approach of DC including its subway traversal much more.
