Sometimes i think that the only Reason Kingmaker managed to become such a sucess is becaue of all the Waifufagging because the game itself is kinda shitBoth Kingmkaer and Wrath where full of bugs and crashes on release and the game is not all that specialits a one to one adaptation of the actuall Kingmkaker modul but with a million cheap encounters added in to waste your time THe gameplay isnt all that fleshed out its just applying a million buffs and hitting everything enemies atack in swarms and are generally braindead and besides combat there is nothing to doThere is no real exploration or non combat problem solving so every character who is not 100% focused on combat is totally usellesBut the relationship aspect was incredibly fleshed outThere are a bunch of dialog options with all the characters and if you go down and romance them its and actuall relationship full with ups and downsThe characters all talk to each other at the campside and play of their indivudall personalitys very well and all does conversations are fully voice actedIt really adds a lot to make the charactes more memorable and you can see the influnce it had on other gamesBG3 had a massive focus on the kind of relationships you can have with the characters and most players care more abou the dollhouse aspect of the game than the normal rpg aspect since the first thing the fans wanted "fixed" about the game was more character interactions and not some core gameplay bugs like Shield bash not working Also Valerie is my favorite i like that she secretly embroiders her clothes and when she gives you a handmaid shirt for your Birthday its just super cute

People were saying they spent hours creating builds and that they went over the refund window even before actually starting the game, just playing around with character creation and the rules settings. I also think a lot of the hype came from Baldur's Gate (and similar games) fans who had no better options. Because it has been an issue in D&D since the 1970s...The solution of course is to adjust the sliders until you don't need buffs to perform reasonably well in combat, and then use your spell slots for offensive magic instead. The only reason people burn their slots on buffs is because buffs don't allow a saving throw, so it's never a waste of your spell.So the tragedy is that Owlcat's games double down on the unreliability of offensive spells by not allowing you to adjust enemy saves separately from their AC and HP. The result is that martials trivialize encounters while casters basically aren't useful for anything other than being a buff bot... which is why buff-and-sprint remains the playstyle at all difficulty settings, unless you use ToyBox and choose deliberately weak builds for your martials in order to nerf their performance to more balanced levels.Very literally, you need to reduce martial damage output by half at bare minimum (in the case of TWF Rogues, you have to nerf their damage output down to less than 20%) if you're playing on a difficulty setting low enough to give casters a greater than 50% chance of landing hostile spells.There is a mod for Wrath that lets you add a scaling bonus to your spell saving throws, and it's basically mandatory for that game. Unfortunately, it doesn't apply to your abilities (like witch hexes) and I don't think anyone's ported it to Kingmaker, still. But it is definitely mandatory to fix the Wrath math.

I reinstalled these shitty games to check.Kingmaker:"Enemy stat adjustments" affects the DCs of enemy abilities used on you, and the DCs of skill checks"Enemy difficulty" affects enemy stat modifiers (and thus, their saves, HP, AC, and BAB), and separately from their stats, additional modifiers to their AC and BAB.Thus, the only way to adjust enemy saves is to also adjust their AC and HP.WotR combined these into one setting, but the point stands.
