I recently began playing Metal Max Xeno: Reborn. While I don't mind that it's completely linear with no towns (so far, anyway) and borderline no NPCs (other than in the base) and the battles are weird (half the time you just kill shit from outside battle?), it's kind of mindless and repetitive. You push forward to the next checkpoint, you sneak past bosses because they'll all just kill the fuck out of you the first time you run into them, etc... It really lacks a lot of the charm of the older games, I think, though. Not sure if I'll stick with it or just go play 3 or 4 for the first time.
>>3899291Both versions of the game are extremely short and unsatisfying in my opinion. Shame the 4 fan TL is in translation hell. Last public post of the team lead was ebegging almost two years ago.
>>3899291Yeah, even if you're willing to overlook how it defies series conventions, it ultimately just doesn't have a whole lot going for it. I didn't hate it or regret playing through it, but it was kind of a lackluster experience.>>3899384>Both versions of the game are extremely short and unsatisfying in my opinion.I only played Reborn, but I was surprised when it ended where it did. It really needed some more dungeons, or just more content in general.
>>3899409It is a shame it will never be followed up upon. Has there been any news this year about the new Metal Saga game?
>>3899445https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbD7GITt9xMprobably in development hell.
>>3899291>>3899409Didn't they cut out over half the story in Reborn for some fucking reason?
Definitely only half a game, but i really enjoyed upgrading my tanks and made a real fucking monster double 300t cannon build, not to mention the (afaik) unlimited tuning capacity. Scratches an itch like no other
>>3899384I played 4 using Retroach's built in AI translation and it worked well enough. In 4 I liked how multi hit weapons aren't actually the strongest, unlike in 3 and 2R. I felt rewarded for experimenting.
>>3899384>Last public post of the team lead was ebegging almost two years ago.they claim they're gonna move from the final alpha to first beta translation by the end of the month
Should be a copyright infringement

>oh no, we added too much story!>oh no, we added too much freedom!I understand wanting to do things differently but the absurd course correction will always be funny to me.
>>3899291Pretty much the only thing Xeno Reborn has going for it is how the drop in/out combat system makes farming enemies a breeze, which feeds into the tank customization by way of there being so many cool rare drops.>>3901944>>3901936I'm guessing he means Mad Max.Even though the other Metal Max games have several different environs and aren't just desert wasteland, and their plot is closer to the lore of Terminator than to Mad Max
>>3899569Yeah, they tried to get a sort of open world feel but instead it just feels empty and lacking story. It does let you get the classic Metal Max "ending the game by talking to girls too good" thing though which is sort of nice.
Xeno Reborn is more barebones than Xeno
Good news! Apparently Success' Metal Saga twitter page is not completely dead
>>3902523Whoops forgot the imageIdk why they're celebrating the anniversary of a game that died 8 years ago though
>>3899291I got this on steam for pennies earlier this year. Which is better, the original Vita version or Reborn?
