simply lovely game, wish i knew what i was doing but i'm not being stopped so far

>>3910723Thanks, man!
So other than Janice with double swords, Kelly with double guns, and Shiki for starting with time magic it doesn't matter who you give what skills/weapons to, right? Like everyone is pretty much mechanically identical barring 1 or 2 stat points?
>>3910967Invest into magic for Lavie and Natalie and perhaps Dora if you're freaky like that.
>>3910967In regular routes, mostly. Just don't build bows on main characters of that route - Reverie Arc, the most powerful bow build, blocks tactics switching. And don't touch spears until you hit the stat cap on regular route - the stat spread they give is horrible. Also, Lavie gets Love magic, Jacou gets Sword/Gun and Prim has Seal move. On Secret route, Dora gets Despair Magic, Janice gets All Trigger Gem and Yoko gets Hat Activation.
>>3910967Most are pretty similar yeah. Your main keepers all get something to distinguish them later on tho, as do a couple of the other ones.
>>3910983spears have good arts tho and you can always fix stats lateralso anyone can get gun kata
>>3911005>you can always fix stats laterYou can't. The stat increase chance becomes lower the more increases you get. The chance gets absurdly low at some point.>spoilerYes, but they will never be as good as Jacou/Kelly
>>3911008does jacou have a niche? seemed mogged by dahlia
>>3911013>does jacou have a niche?Efficient Hybrid damage scaling, if I remember correctly. If you train her in sword/gun and water/fire, several of her skills get additional damage boost from that magic proficiency. She needs grinding though to get useful, and the point you get her is very, VERY lategame.
>>3910967freddy should stay on magic as she gets good magic related shit later on
>>3911035I mean she has good magic shit when she starts t b h
>>3910983oh no, i started the game making nat's friend a spear user...
>>3911526I gave everyone their standard weapons and magic and did not attempt to minmax the game and beat it fine
>>3911547You can also just not save that character in a Jewelry Box after beating a route and retrain them into another build.
>>3911526>>3911569DESU eventually Lavie doesn't really need to "attack" or anything weak like that anyways so it'll be fine
>>3911724And then, Maria Reich Happens.Kiss your love gem Zig Byel!

I love the machines, they're such a cool fight
>>3910967I think I read on the jap wiki each character has slightly faster growth on certain magic and weapon but I could had misinterpreted it. It probably won't matter in any reasonable circumstance.
Am I supposed to just farm Fatimas forever to upgrade my weapons? Or am I missing something?
>>3913068You don't really need to upgrade your weapons that much? Regular play without grinding gives you a bunch of fatimas across different routes, so there's not really a need to ever grind them. Between that and the jewelry box meaning you accumulate your regular weapon exp from playing, you'll be fine. If you really want more, I'd only do it like immediately before you're about to face the end-route boss on your sixth route so you have a couple extra if you want them for the final route
How do I do this stupid jump challenge? I am using the charge action to get there and attempting to mid air jump but I just seem to fall down instead of jumping. When I don't dash i can jump but of course not high enough.
>>3913176I finally made it by jumping before getting off the ledge as just running off it disabled my mid-air jump.
>>3913176you need pretty good timing for it desu. You need to charge, jump (walking off will fail), then dash at a specific height so you're going just under the last stalactite - you cannot hit the walls and be pushed under, you need to fall to the correct height from the start. Then you need to time your double jump right after that stalactite and (unfortunately where a lot of attempts fail) you then have to actually land on that platform and not over/undershoot it. Good luck! There's an OOPart called the Damascus Ring that makes it so your charge doesn't decay, which can make this a little easier, but the way you get that is from doing all the other side-quests in a character's route, so you might not have access to it yet.
>>3913176Not something I've ever remembered to try, but I wonder if it's easier on 30fps. Apocalypse is way harder to time on 60fps than 30, maybe charge lasts a tad longer on 30 too.
I really wish this game was more popular, hopefully some big streamer will pick it up someday
>>3915313Mel's world is a filter for most of them
AAAAAAAAAA WHAT IS THIS HOW DO I EVEN BEAT IT
>>3915708Not now that's for sure.
>>3915318Time to make a censored edition of the game that replaces all of Backbeard's dialogue with Joss Whedon writing and Marvel quipping.
>>3915708There's a couple of good strategies for it. You could probably do it now desu. >The important thing is to not get killed by the Bitstorm. >The Bitstorm tends to kill you when it activates.>The Bitstorm has specific conditions for when it activatesThese are your important pieces of knowledge to ruminate on. And then of course you have to like... perform well enough once you've thought up a strategy.Consider your options! I really like this fight
>>3910967give everyone gun's and time magic
>>3915708>5k poweruhh basedcome back later (its power is 41188 so you want 10297 average) or find a funny way to cheese it i believe in you
>>3912347They each have at least one preferred weapon and magic type, but iirc all that means is it's what they'll have at higher levels when you recruit them and what they'll passively level when not in use (plus whatever they're equipped with). As an example Meshleia is biased toward spear+light, but if she's always in your party there's functionally no difference in giving her something like bow+wind.

>>3919796Okay but like… It’s Hat WorldThat’s 95% of the cast
Does the Demon's Egg actually make the game harder or is it a balance toggle in case you didn't grind your characters enough?
>>3921342It's more like a balance toggle for overgrinding. It makes enemies scale with your Power. It also undoes some boss nerfs on the current JP version, but the English patch's version predates those. There is an actual Easy mode unlocked on the Egg if you game over enough times.
MY FUCKING BROS!
>>3921356>It makes enemies scale with your PowerIs this purely scale up or can you do funny lopsided builds to exploit it
>>3921922Purely scale up.
>>3921798It’s a kino moment. Tbh her route itself is a little bland, but she arguably has the best boss fight in the game (there are a lot of contenders out there admittedly).
Seriously what's the deal with this pot? It even appears in the NPG Facility after you set up shop
>>3923178It's watching.
>>3923178I figured it was supposed to be an alchemy pot used for item synthesis, since you do that sitting in a nearby chair. It isn't always close to the chair though.

So, lore question: Was Clock Girl created when/because Meim merged herself with APES? They both have that thing of safety through ignorance going on, so it'd make sense if the former's personality was copying the latter's
>>3926292Clock Girl is a separate system, the evolved form of the time simulation/memory repression system, the one that existed since the beginning. She took on that form wanting to be noticed and accepted by the inhabitants of the Hat World, subconsciously emulating human behavior to achieve that. She fails to do so in Shiki's route (gets doomed to be eternally supressed by Shiki directly), and achieves that in the secret route.
>>3910360Oh yeah, speaking of lore, let me know if I got these correct:Dora (as well as her elder sister and Chocolat) died in a burning theatre, Shiki got torn apart trying to save Tsubame from a serial killer throwing that girl into the oncoming subway train, Janice drowned trying to save Mel, Natalie got run over by a car while crossing the crosswalk on green light, Lavie slit her wrists not being able to take abuse from her mother anymore and Mel fell off the yacht on a voyage with her parents.
>>3926882sortaJanice drowned trying to save some random kid - she did succeed at leastLavie's was related more to family strife in general (succession issues? pretty sure rich family stuff)Mel just wandered off a pier while her parents were having Important Conversationswhat i wanna know is who or what earthly creature could have killed Kelly
>>3926867>the evolved form of the time simulation/memory repression systemAhh yeah, that makes way more sense

>>3934554So uh, tell people about the game?
>>3910360Holy... I've cleared the game already, decided to start a new game on another PC and I've learned that you can manually set the decoy rank. Man, do I feel dumb...
I'm currently sitting at 66 weapons obtained and I don't know what I'm missing. It's the last achievement I need to max out the box. Any ideas?
Is Shinyaku a direct upgrade to the original game, or are there enough differences to warrant playing the original? I'll play in moon anyway so the lack of translation for the original wouldn't bother me.
>>3937905Did you try Alchemy Synthesis? Item Type exchange OOParts?
>>3937905How many routes did you clear?
>>39383036>>3937910Yeah, but on different routes. I crafted everything again on a single savefile and got 80, which was enough to get the crown. I thought progress carried over but I guess not.
Pic related, the moment you knew you were in for a KINO
>>3937909There's a few gameplay differences but like the original having a different formation system and a party of 3 instead of 4 but I'd still call Shinyaku a direct upgrade.
>>3938904I see, thanks. The story is basically the same then?
Does that Dahlia guy exclusive only for Lavie or you could find him on other routes too?Did i fucked up my first playthrough and not explore locations thoughtfully enough or what.
>>3938960Original has the same story for all the routes, Shin'yaku every route's story is unique.>>3939083To not say much, don't worry about it, Press F5 ingame to see if you really missed a sidequest or not.
>>3939086And Shin'yaku includes that same story from the original?
>>3940019In one of the routes yes.
I'm doing something wrong? This thing supposed to "enchant" the weapon, or whatever, after you add it to a equipment and then dismantle it. But all i ever seem to "get" is a losing item.
>>3940426When you add those kinds of ooparts to a weapon and dismantle it, it turns into an equal rank weapon of the oopart's corresponding type. If you add it to a rank 11 weapon of the same type, it instead upgrades it to rank 12.
>>3940437>When you add those kinds of ooparts to a weapon and dismantle it, it turns into an equal rank weapon of the oopart's corresponding typeWell, that's sucks. Thought i can avoid recipe grinding this way,(10%? More like 0%.) since i'm stuck with maximum of 8 rank gun type weapon, and in general overall don't have any recipes higher than 9 rank despite it's being my second playthrough already. Muskets are cool and all, but i'm legit kinda feel weaker than on my first run.Starting to think dev just expected you to roll with a fist playstyle for at least few first routes.
>>3940461>Set Max Decoy Rank for area with desirable weapon recipe>Level Steal Gem to 3 (max steal chance, higher levels just add attempts on regular and art attacks)>Fight mobs till you get ones marked with a star - those carry a recipe or the corresponding weapon if you already have it.>Don't kill those - use steal repeatedly to get it>Profit.
>>3940426>>3940437Unless I'm remembering it wrong if the weapon is the correct type it raises its rank anyway?Third Eye is for bows I think
>Going through the Mel route >ending up in a "real world" >remembering about some of decoys in Mono's sidequest fight being supposed soldiers/scientist from the real word Is the game planning pulling a matrix plot twist on me, didn't it? Well, i guess it was kinda obvious when a literal brain in a pod suddenly grows herself a body next with her other friends.
>>3940519>SpoilerNo, it's pulling Armageddon with Bruce Willis with a pyramid instead of a meteor. The Matrix is actually an allegory for the power of humans united.
>>3940467I tried it, grind for almost an hour, manage to get 150k+ crystals while doing so and barely seen any star-marked enemies overall. End up getting angel trumpet and halo in my short detour in Valhalla Cathedral, also few armor recipes, but no any other gun recipes beside the trumpet. Drop rates in this game are insanely low, if you keep in mind the average route completion time is like 20-30 hours. I'm ain't grind for additional 15 just to get myself more OOParts/already mentioned recipes.
>>3940638Get a Lupin's Note from the final dungeon "secret" fight then steal a Goemon's Pipe from a Hard Metal Slime, in that order unless I'm remembering it wrong.
>>3940638>Drop rates in this game are insanely low, if you keep in mind the average route completion time is like 20-30 hoursBut like… you’re doing many routes so…You don’t need to get all the recipes in your first one
>>3940656I try this, but it seems in any case i'm now stuck with musket's until the next route. >>3940844I'm on my second now. I didn't even notice lack of recipes that much originally, because i manage to get luciferants relatively quickly and damage from them seems to be enough to finish my first route with some comfort. Guess there also 11-rank weapons, so even if i was having access to 9-rank guns recipe, i would still kinda fucked by rng. Also, unrelated to crafting, but still, i kinda have this one question: how much damage "attack up" and "weapon arts" gems supposed to give you in their max level+buff from master gem? I often forced to take my gun art off to have space for more useful gems, and now i tried to experiment with both of them to notice how big difference in damage there is, and it feels to me like it's just don't change shit. Kinda started to suspect that my game may be "slightly" broken or something. There's was the "extract with the jp locale" part in the instructions with i kinda ignore, because i couldn't bother finding the way to permanently setting it in my system and then use locale emulator to run it after. It still seems like it work flawlessly but noticing things like this now...i wonder how big is the difference in my gaming experience and people who install it properly with jp locale...
>>3940902>...There's was the "extract with the jp locale..."If it was that broken your game would be very obvious about it I can assure you that because the victim would be the remaining JP filenames being seen as gibberish to your system so the game wouldn't find the files when it looks for them and just crash.I think weapons gems "+Power %" refer to the weapon skills and are additive like increasing your the Double Slash power from 120 to 170 at +50%.
>>3940912Well, even if they do something, i really couldn't notice any difference when comparing the damage numbers from arts/normal attack.
GIVING UP GEEZER I NEED YOU AEEEE
It's a shame that you can only get one Nebra disc through all the routes. Blasting the late game thrash mobs with all the gals equipped with it and reverse crosses would be fucking awesome.
Crazy how laughably easy this fight is if you manage to 1-turn kill warlock before she rapes you with move that takes all your heal/res from your gems.
>>3941226That's a lotta guns
>>3941226Why railgun on Kelly? She's got Overextend unique skill.
>>3941233Double muskets do look a little bit ridiculous, ngl.
>>3941234 I didn't have access to 10 rank recipes to make desert eagles through advanced alchemy,(or whatever how you supposed to get them for whole party) so i decide to give her muskets also so she wouldn't be the only one with unique weapon there, they also have the astonishing...2 more weapon power points compared to the eagle, so there's that.>Overextend skillIt's lasts based on the gun capacity or something, right? It not that much impressive when you try to use it with muskets.
>>3941234>>3941238>It's lasts based on the gun capacity or something, right?Does it? I never actually swapped Kelly off her deagles so I wouldn't know, and I find Overextend to be pretty underwhelming against bosses anyways Though I actually prefer the .44 magnum over both, because you can easily chain gun-kata into railgun without gimping your other skills
Finished Mel route rn. Did Yuno and Jerkou just BETRAYED and TRAPPED Yoko in a hat world as a keeper, by putting a hatinified Mel on her, or what this scene with her getting a veil on her head was about. Or it's actually supposed to be simple bittersweet ending without any doomer twists, where every other girl now can chill with this Realization Encode fake body or whatever as Mel replaces Big Mother by sacrificing her ego?btw, Is a level 2 keycard, that you can get as a rare loot from soldiers, worth to return for? Is there any ending alterations, like in Janice route where you allowed to lose the finale fight if you forget to lower your hat numbers?
>>3941238>It's lasts based on the gun capacity or something, That's Supress Fire, Overextend doesn't if I remember correctly. Cool skill to build around too, but you're basically locked to Turkish rocket and Luger/Walter/DEagle and need to spend a lot of time farming Fatimas.>>3941385>spoiler1The second part. Mel pretty much confesses her love to Yoko and leaves her to manage things as she sees fit, becoming something akin to a human sphere and losing consciousness. If you count lore from the secret route, she essentially becomes a benevolent final boss, assuming she beats her.>spoiler2Not really, you'll learn how Prim got into the Hat World from Jacou's secret diary, as well as her true affiliation, something you can do on a secret route. Also, no alterations for Mel's route.
>>3940022Awesome, thanks. Knowing this saves me a lot of time as I can just play Shin'yaku then (as sadly free time is not unlimited)
>>3941459Soo, no more route-exlusive OOParts or anything, ehh? Lame. First part of the Jacou diary kinda left me hanging, but i suppose i can wait until i finish all the main routes before i know the rest then. Thanks for the answers!
