Is there any rpg with the pacifist idea of Undertale? I'm sure toby wasn't the first to have this idea.

In Live A Live, you get a bonus if you go through the entire ninja chapter with no kills (or a different reward for all possible kills). Sometimes requires you to get creative with avoiding kills, pretty hard to do blind.
>>
Stick with the prod. Remember that we're cops.
>>

Do you play ninja games dressed like a ninja...?
>>
>>3920389
Yes.
>>
>>3920384
Correction - no kills by YOUR hand. You still murder people, like getting the Orobo to the two samurai door guards.
>>

You can do a decent pacifist run in Deus Ex (you have to kill Anna, but you don't have to fight her), but it's not really acknowledged. No one will comment on it after the first few missions. I don't know any other games that made a point of it like Undertale.

didn't read, but this is what I imagine Fallout 1 would be like if Chris Avelonne wrote for it
>>
>>3920380
What are the rules? Complete main quest without deaths?
>>
>>3920439
Yeah good point, I thought about mentioning that in the post. Though Orobo freaks out and kills them because of a mouse, it's not like you planned to use him for murder.

too concise for avellone

Hopefully none, undertale's pacifist idea is essentially just the typical libtard belief of "if you defend yourself against those insects who want to destroy your entire species and will the moment they get the chance to do so, you're le heckin bad guy!!" parroted towards the kiddies obsessed with indie games like the groomers they are, they failed to moralfag with the genocidal space bugs, and they failed with the monsters who were locked up for multiple understandable reasons, monsters, despite what their little propaganda piece in snowdin's library wants you to believe, are not purely innocent, and some have been shown to hold violent behavior against humans for very unreasonable motives (Mad dummy just pulling up any excuse to attack you even when you are nice to his cousin, undyne being a complete asshole to you no matter what you do, muffet being aggressive even towards other monsters [npc near her shop, geno run fight dialogue], mettaton broadcasting himself beating you to death while the ratings go up whenever you or mtt get hit, implying that a large amount of monsters are sadistic enough to tune in to that sort of shit, catty and bratty being hyped for the destruction of humanity, enemy encounters refusing to spare you unless you do shit like kneeling down and offer to suck em off, etc.), even their reactions to asriel was understandable given that chara was trying to get him to destroy the village, the game failed so hard to paint the humans as the bad guys that toby eventually had to backtrack on that shit and made gerson say not all humans are bad in the UT anniversary stream
>>

Not really? The monsters are generally depicted sympathetically, even when they attack you in self defence (or for no reason at all, as the case may be).

It's so much worse than that. Basically the entire premise of Undertale is to make the user feel sympathetic towards pedophiles.

Keep in mind you play as a CHILD. And you are sent to an underworld where monsters have been banished by humanity. And the first thing you discover is that every one of these monsters wants to physically assault you.

What do you call a monster that physically attacks children on sight? A PEDOPHILE. There's a reason these monsters were banished, and it's made abundantly clear by the fact that these monsters physically attack children on sight, without hesitation.

But the game shames you for trying to stop monsters from assaulting children. You'll get the worst ending if you try to stop monsters from assaulting children. Instead the game encourages you to show sympathy and empathy towards the monsters who assault children. You shouldn't think they're bad people for wanting to assault young children! Instead you need to understand *why* they want to assault children.

And if you do, you learn the monsters aren't the bad guys just because they want to assault children on sight. It's because they NEED children! They NEED their souls, so they can get back to the overworld where there's more human children to assault. And you're a bad person for denying them that!

Like if we could just sit down with pedophiles and empathize with them, we might understand why it's so important that they get to assault children to allow them to satisfy their needs. If you don't let them do that... well... maybe YOU'RE the monster, am I right?

Actually the monsters are white people who are dying out because they are a degenerate inferior race, while black people are superior and replacing them with interracial mixed babies with black man seed.

There are no "good" or "bad" guys in Undertale and that's the point. It's a deconstruction of the RPG genre where monsters are basically humans in their moral logic despite being called "monsters" and living according to extremely different premises compared to humans. On average they're pretty nice, but many of them have good reasons to do bad things, just like humans in our world, and a few will be nasty for no reason as they live on the margins of society. Being a "pacifist" in these circumstances isn't giving in, but rather showing them that their reasoning is flawed with a minimal use of force. Notice that I said "minimal" because it isn't even strict pacifism, the game acknowledges the question "What will you do when going up against a relentless killer?" and the answer either involves getting creative or actually using force. You cannot beat the game without using the [FIGHT] button.

Undertale is hyped up as "le quirky Tumblr RPG" but it is surprisingly nuanced in its morality. The character who serves as a moral judge even factors in whether you've used time travel or whether you killed a completely harmless character in his "judgement." No other game I know of has done the concept of minimal force as well as it, and OP wants to know of any that have.

Though not truly "pacifist" in that you kill monsters, the Ultima IV penalizes you for killing humans rather than routing them by lowering your Compassion stat. That said most enemies can be routed anyway.

Thank you for typing this up because I have had the game for awhile and I wanted to play it but never did, despite the hype and having a friend that loved it so much she insisted I play. I loved EarthBound and have replayed it over the years, and Lisa I got a quarter through and still need to finish as well, but now it looks as though I will do the same with Undertale. I didn't realize that was the premise.

I thought it was a more "be nice to everybody" feel good type of a game.
>>
>>3926933
On the surface it is that which is how it ended up with a very large, yet juvenile and shallow fanbase. Nevertheless, if you actually read what the characters say and think about their motivations then you'll notice a surprising amount of depth. It's not a long game so I recommend just playing it. It doesn't click with everyone and that's fine, but if it does with you then you'll love it. Playing through it unspoiled is a rare treat in this day and age.

Princess Maker games/ Cute Knight Games give you many options to go for peaceful crafts without killing anything at all.

Wonder Project J (both games apply, but you do kill a mechanical dragon in the first one) fits as well, I guess, since the game is all about being polite and kind.
>>
>>3926933
Its still a "be nice to everybody" feel good type of game through, the game gives you le best happy ending by sparing everybody and backtracking a bit to do some shit such as becoming friends with some people and helping someone traumatized, you can literally get a "bad" neutral ending where at the end phonecall its revealed that undyne is feeling like "grrrgh why did you betray our friendship i hate you!!?!" with sad music and shit all because you dared to kill the evil spider who traps you in webs and plans to sell you as food or dared to kill the mercenaries on the CORE who were literally hired to kill you
>>
>>3927424
Those mercenries were just trying to do their job
>>
>>3929317
Anon, if murder is your job, it doesn't make things better, it makes it much worse.

>Pearl clutching redditor conflates sexual orientations and fetishes with assault
So you're saying that all people (men especially) are rapists because some of us act on their sexual urges without thinking of the consequences
