Fates has a niche fandom because it does a lot of good things, but the casual FE player hates it because the story and characters are beyond dogshit.

That last part felt rather cheap as it only aligns with the Dagda/Master Morality route: in the Friendship/Slave morality route, you're recanting them but still largely following the underlying moral structures.
