What is the best version of each Final Fantasy game? Meaning which versions have hard mode and options to speed up combat
>>3925187>What is the best version of each Final Fantasy game? The original system it first came out on.
>>3925187I'm tying to think of a single FF game (up to 10) that doesn't play better in its original release and I can't come up with one other than FF3you posted FF8. FF8 in particular is WAY better in OG hardware than the remaster.
>>3925202FF3s music is best on the NES and none of the remakes did it justice

>>3925229*Unless you want to get involved with mods, then go for a Steam release.
Can I not just mod the shit out of the games on PC?
>>3925187Final Fantasy I: Pixel Remaster or PlayStationFinal Fantasy II: Pixel Remaster. The PlayStation version requires you to beat it to unlock Hard difficulty (the original normal difficulty).Final Fantasy III: All three versions of the game are difficult and different, Pixel Remaster is the easiest and has modifiers.Final Fantasy IV: 3D Remake on DS is hard by default, the mobile and PC versions introduced a separate easy difficulty and dubbed it normal. Pixel Remaster has modifiers like the others and speed ups.Final Fantasy V: Pixel Remaster. All Pixel Remasters have speed ups and modifiers, like removing encounters or how much experience you can get. I've seen someone on X beat the game using Freelancers without leveling up.Final Fantasy VI: Pixel Remaster, see above. The modifiers for VII, VIII, IX, and X make the games easier, not harder. Those are the only ones I know about.
>>3925312>The modifiers for VII, VIII, IX, and X make the games easier, not harder.Ironically, they removed the mimimum level cap PC release of VIII which makes it even easier.
>>3925312>Pixel RemasterStopped reading here
>>3925348Kek, OP asked for versions that have a hard mode and allow you to speed up combat. The Pixel Remasters are not really hard, but you can use modifiers to not get experience and money, which means no leveling up. I have to check if there are AP modifiers. I haven't played them, but when I play VI, I plan to do a no experience run until I recruit Gogo and Umaro.
>>3925187Only romhacks or mods for FF1 - 9 will make them remotely challenging.
>>3925513>FF8>PS1>No EXP run>Omega WeaponGood luck.
>>3925513Recommend romhacks or mods then
>>3925187>What is the best version of each Final Fantasy game?>FF5Snes>Pixel Remaster>GBA>Playstation>iOSYou should do fine with the Pixel Remaster though.
>>3925524FF8 is actually much more challenging if you kill everything you come across fairly without using abusive GF statgain exploits. Enemies scale with your level
>>3925513It's not possible to make RPGs "challenging" even in theory. They're games with stats that decide what's possible. If you're too low level, you can't do the thing. If you're high enough level, you can. It's as simple as that. There isn't anything about challenge involved. They're RPGs. They're about stories and adventure. They're not about masochistic masturbation. If you want to jerk off over your self-abuse superiority complex, go play some Fromslop.
>1NES. PSX acceptable>2FC. PSX acceptable>3FC>4SFC>5SFC>6SFC>7PSX>8PSX. PC acceptable if you want to bother with the Chocobo mini game which is another mean to gain item/spells anti draw fags never think about>9PSX>anything after 9who gives a shit lmao
>>3927541It's called an exp curve, retard. You set a soft cap for each area. If you're below the level of the enemies in the area, you gain a lot of exp until you're at their level, at which point you gain so little that leveling up takes hours of grind. You include secondary progression mechanics that provide tactical options, such as learning new skills that are gained in other ways than standard experience points. Play more games.
>>3927541I agree, I sure loved the story in Wizardry. Such epicness with plot twists at every turn and the game did a good job at giving personalities to the characters. Meanwhile the gameplay wasn't remotely challenging, just spam X to win basically.Fucking RPGs I swear.
>>3925230Oh shit are there good mods for FFVII on Steam? I didn't even think that was a thing.
>>3927602There's a lot of gameplay overhaul mods. The most popular is New Threat. VIII also has a bunch. Ragnarok Rebalance Mod, Crystal and so on.
