I want to download some mods like a postgame mod and some qol shit, and since im getting started on fnv modding, i looked shit up online and saw a lot of people spewing bullshit about muh viva new vegas and the wabbajacks and other unintelligible shit, so, like, can someone tell me how to install new vegas mods like a normal person? I just want to play fallout new vegas mods ffs
>like a normal personYou're in the wrong place, honey. Only freaks and perverts roam this website, you'd be better off elsewhere, where I don't know but not here.
Just play fallout 4 like a normal person
>>3930470>https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/intro.htmlFollow this until Base finish or setup MO2 and figure it all out yourself.
>>3930559i'm trying to follow the instructions but when i get to the game settings part with opening the game launcher by using the fallout launcher option, i cant enter the options menu nor press install because i simply downloaded a pirated fallout new vegas from the steam files, is there any way to continue like this or
>>3930470>download mods>unzip the files>open game folder>put in the data folder>enable in ini??? This shit really isn't hard, every mod has a readme (which you really should read). Use a sorter and merger [BOSS / WryeFlash / FOMM] if you really have no clue what you're doing (you clearly don't).If you aren't actually a retard it's not hard.
>>3930470In my experience.Don't add too much stuff to Freeside, or use anything that implies or requires Open Freeside. Freeside is a caged demon, that is currently in containment. Do not breach containment on Freeside. Do not give more power to the demon in Freeside. Leave it the fuck alone, and stay away from it as much as you can. I know, I know, opening the last Taco Bell in America inside of Freeside sounds amazing, and it is. But, it's not worth it. Also I forget his name, but the guy who did the New Vegas Bounties mod, most of his shit is pretty good. I've never had a problem or complaint with his shit, and they're decently entertaining.
>>3930470>can someone tell me how to install new vegas mods like a normal person?Go to Nexus, get the Vortex Mod Manager. Use the mod manager download option for your mods. Vortex handles all of it by itself. There's some shit it can't do by itself like bash mods together, but if you're struggling with getting mods in at all, you do not have the technical skill to do those things anyways. Vortex is flawed. It entails using Nexus. But it's easy and nearly idiot-proof, and if you're a normal person, you aren't autistic enough to have grievances with Nexus to the point of refusing to let it touch your game. Read your mod pages, pay attention to prerequisites and installation instructions. Usually, Nexus or Vortex will yell at you if you fuck something up, but not always, and some will require something of you once you are actually ingame. So read your damn mod pages. Read them. If something isn't working, your first destination is re-read that fucking mod page. Your second is the forum posts on that mod page, to see if it's a common issue. Your third is a six year old reddit post that you may have to creatively interpret because software has changed. Your fourth, at your technical level, is probably shrug, and forget about it. Mod doesn't work, bad news bears. 1/2
>>3930875When you go to play, Vortex will almost assuredly tell you mods are conflicting. Just use the reccomended solutions it offers if you can, and flip a coin if it doesn't have one. Rule of thumb, if it sounds more important, more integral to how the game works, load it first. If it sounds like a thing you are actually interacting with, a weapon, a perk, a place, load that second. If something seems like it is modifying something else, load the thing being modified first. (Example. A change to how perks work in general goes first. A thing that adds a perk goes second. A thing that modifies the perk you added goes third). Again, Vortex should handle most of this, it's usually pretty good about it, but, sometimes it doesn't know, and won't guess. Guessing is your job. If your game doesn't launch/crashes instantly, take off half your mods, try again. If it still crashes, half again. If it launches, add half back, until it starts crashing, until you identify the bastard. It is probably possible to fix the bastard. YOU probably can't if you are asking these questions, so kick it. Mods are divided into mods, and plug-ins. To simplify, Mods are the package itself, plug-ins are individual components. Make sure your plug-ins are turned on. Read the damn mod page, it will probably explain what they do, and if you want (or even can) have multiple on at once. Some mods will have multiple configurations, listed as plug-ins of the same mod. Say, from my ass, "faster hardcore mode needs" may have three different plug-ins, one for 2 times as fast, one for 3, and one for 5. You would only pick one. Read. The fucking. Mod page. Bethesda games have both a true and a soft mod limit (oversimplified, but roll wirh it). The true limit is a non-negotiable number. The soft limit being encroached on means your saves are getting too large, and will result in periodic, semi-consistent crashes while loading. There are solutions to this, these solutions are complicated. Cut some mods.
>>3930505only freaks and perverts mod fallout games
>>3930470I used Mod Organizer and installed most mods via it, besides NVSE. But I don't use many mods anyway, I wanted to use more cut content mods, but some are buggy or have compatibility issues and have not been updated for years, so I only ended up using Uncut Wasteland. Beyond that, JSawyer Ultimate for rebalancing, some patch mods like YUP few random others, but that's not important.Basically just use Mod Organizer, get NVSE too, and then check requirements for individual mods you want to use.
