Dragon Quest V takes place over 30 years. Are there any RPGs that take place over a longer period of time, not counting time travel RPGs like Chrono Trigger?

>>3932479Which one of these has the villain who is almost impossible to kill in-universe? Like the protagonist try and try and he just keeps coming back?
>>3932483Technically both are like that but the latter has a more explicit section about it
>>3932493Thanks. I meant to play that one but couldn't remember which one was which.
>>3932466Tales of PhantasiaFire Emblem 4both check this box too >>3932483
>>3932475Never played it but doesn't that fall under OP's exclusion of time travel games?
>>3932466I thought it was more like 15-20 years>8 years a slave I think>then petrified for another 10 years.>>3932475No it wasn't, that was over the course of a few months if I am not mistaken.>>3932466With NIS titles it's hard to gauge, a year to demon's isn't the same length as time to a human.
>>3935259>With NIS titles it's hard to gauge, a year to demon's isn't the same length as time to a humanYeahMakai Kingdom in particular has such an abstract setting, that the game could take place over an afternoon, a week, a century, or a millennium, and there wouldn't be much difference.
>>3935259You're omitting how long the adult journey takes to petrification. Which to be fair the game is unclear on, but it's at least a few years. I always figured it was a 5 year journey or so, just given that when you escape as a slave you can't be any older than 14, and the relatively short period between marriage and arriving in Gotha is long enough for a full pregnancy to happen. Hell, you don't even notice until you're on the damn mountain, so presumably the climb up and down took months.

>>3935482Yeah, thisSomething that's definitely been lost in the wash over time is how long the played game actually lasts. Most games either don't care, or else will broadly take place over a year so you can get seasonality, but in the context of something like these older JRPGs, a world spanning ship voyage takes months. Climbing a mountain takes weeks, months if it's a large one. A five year run for these kinds of games is really not that surprising. Someone exploring a significant portion of the world in five years is honestly a blistering pace, even without regular combat with wildlife.

>>3935482>I always figured it was a 5 year journey or so, just given that when you escape as a slave you can't be anyI thought it was rather quick, then again the movie actually swayed my opinion after the fact. I thought that these things happened in rather rapid succession..... Like over the course of a few months you know. People tended to get married really quickly back in the olden times. >>3935478>place over an afternoon, a week, a century, or a millennium, these are literal gods in extra dimensional space.
>>3935737God I love Babylon. I'm so disappointed he never really came back in any real sense.
