>>3935511I almost loved Jade Cocoon until the true grind of the battles dawned on me. The reason these games need it is purely because of the battle animations. In JC the monster capture and switching animations just take too long, then there's the shorter attacking animations on top of that. It gets too repetitive even with fast-forward.

>>3935511If you're going to speed up the game to grind, you might as well just cheat at that point.However, using speedup to control the pace of the game is fine in my book, especially if it's a game you've already played several times and want to get down to the meat of it. There is no "gameplay" in waiting additional seconds each time you enter commands and wait for them to happen. The gameplay is in the decision making. If a player wants to speed along to the next time they get to do gameplay, that's as good a use of speedup as any.

The point of every TRUE rpg is to be miserable and bored. They are not meant to be played, they are meant to be endured. The more boring and tedious the game is, the higher I rank it. What's the point of even beating a game if you didn't hate every second of it? How is it an accomplishment if you actually enjoyed it?
