It's not the best system, since getting two dates requires you to spend one of the hangouts rizzing an NPC instead of letting the story handle it but you get one extra character hangout, which is mostly worthless if you're already dating, to go chat up a character or ask them out. I do think it could be handled a bit better but reading the code for the game I do not blame Kyle over it.

Does the new chapter of College Tennis not have any variance between the tennis matches? I played it twice, once on the same sex team and once on the mixed team and even after saying I won't have to play a match against the childhood friend character, their tennis partner mysteriously switched gender so we'd have to play a match against each other anyway. A bunch of the dialogue lines of the PC's partner got copied too as well as some of the scenarios, pretty lazy all around. Why even bother allowing us to pick different doubles partners at that point?

Any stat check I cleared I did with magic no problem, there was never any indication that I should improve physique instead, since the choices in combat are almost always a mutually exclusive choice between physique or magic. There was never any point where I needed it until the author decided to arbitrarily kill me over it (after already forcing me to make a stupid decision by going into that cave alone). There's also the fact that increasing physique means there are other things I can't do like doing hangout events and improving my magic. It just seems completely unnecessary to bar me from progressing entirely halfway through the game. It's anti-roleplay, anti-choice, and plain on its face stupid design. If you want to bust the players balls for not investing their stats properly that's fine, but don't force an entire redo because clicking through text to get back to the point you were is just not interesting at all especially in a linear story like this.
