does this game have as confusing and cryptic skill/master system that III had? where you had to keep levels as low as possible because trainer skills are based on levels gained but the game never fucking tells you
All I remember about this game is that I hated it because it kept switching between two different stories. Pretentious shit completely breaks the pacing.
>be me>play 3>like it>go back and play 1 and 2>like them>never play 4>never play 5>read nerds bitching about 5 all the time>have no idea what they’re talking about and can’t relate>have only fond memories of the seriesFeels good man
>>3937093BoF4 is good5 is weird. I can't explain it
>>39370935 plays completely differently from the rest of the series.it's a badly designed rougelike, has a game over counter, and speeds up the game over counter if you use dragon mode
>>3937093>>39373735 is really good and faggots only hate it because they need to get good at games.
another day another shitpost by DQ "fans" that spend more time attacking critics then defending the game.Tells you something if "defenders" of a game CAN'T EVEN PROPERLY DEFEND THE FUCKING GAME
>>3937026Nah they swerved that. This one requires you to perform tasks such as a 10 hit combo or 10,000 damage in a single attack. Some are tied to actions outside of battle too like having a certain number of unique items in your inventory or trading one particular item as part of an ongoing trade quest.
>>3937026I don't remember but it was fun and satisfying.
Unrelated but I am surprised no one did a Bravely Default type of successor for BoF.
3 > 4
>>3937026There are trainers, but they aren't worth the time, game's easy.
>>3937092The idea was good, but the execution lacking.
>>3937026No. Basically each master has their own unique side quest and by advancing that side quest you unlock their skills.
Only reason to play BoF is for Nina.
>>3937751The idea was great. The Fou Lu segments are some of the best. The story is great because you get to see both sides.
>>3937026Reminder: NEVER SELL ANYTHING until you master Stoll.
>>3937026No other game has ever made me sympathize with the villain as hard as that one did.
>>3939898Especially how you get to choose how the end of the game goes and who the final boss will be.
>>3939936Has any other RPG done the thing they did in BoF IV where you can choose at the end and fight either the traditional boss, or your own party?
>>3939900Why? I haven't played it in so long that I forgot what that did.
>>3939900>>3939942I looked it up actually: https://www.dragnier.net/breath-of-fire-iv/breath-of-fire-iv-guides/stoll-80-item-checklist/There is an explanation for anybody interested.
>>3937026It has the same retarded system but is also so piss easy you never have to interact with any of the systems.
>>3939940Tales of Xillia 2.There is a point when you got to kill your beloved older brother to progress, the player can refuse but that wouldn't stop the rest of the party so you end up fighting and killing every single one of them
>>3939939Joining Fou-lu is the bad ending and doesn't really have a final boss.
>>3940074Ah that's a neat thing they did - how does the game play out after that? Does it still end the same or are there two very different branching paths?
>>3937026No. Masters only affect stat growth in this one. By the way Ershin is actually meant to be a mage.
>>3940213>Only character that learns all the high level magic is meant to be a mageNo shit.
>>3940195You needed to kill your brother to unlock the final dungeon so the game ends right then and there if you don't kill him. It is a genuine ending though, unlocks NG+ and a few bonuses by getting it.SMT IVA has a split that involves killing your "friends" too, both routes are extremely similar but one is filled with cringe cliche power of friendship speeches and an asspull reason to make you fight the final boss while the other is very edgy and you can revive a single one of your former as a brainwashed broodmother to create a new race with.
>>3939939It's rather who will fight the last boss
>>3940637Yes, you're right. Nuanced but true. I really loved how they did that. I keep wanting to replay the game, I started it like twice over the past few years but didn't stick through it. The main reason was to get to that point. I will eventually - emulation with speeding up is perfect, allows me to get the dopamine hits of my favorite games while saving time so I can still be productive.
>>3940766>allows me to get the dopamine hitsI doubt it works like that. Investing dozens of hours for a 5 second sequence. Watch it on yt and do something else. Game is unfortunately unfun. The dragon transformations are cool.
>>3940239BoF4 baits players into thinking that Ershin is a physical fighter because her magical stats are terrible for most of the game and you get masters long before the magic stats correct themselves into something decent and you learn the high end spells. So I wouldn't blame someone for thinking that it was the second coming of BoF2 Katt.
>>3941167Cumming in Katt? Yes, please!
>>3939943god i hate that
>hey bro those 2 kids we've been pursueing nonstop for 10 hours got away again>even when they win, they losewhy were they so cucked
>>3941439seems familiar
