Why do so many people say NWN1 is better? 2 has a much better story, much more reactivity in dialogue and quest outcome, companions w/ friendships, rivalries and romances, and so on.Compared to 2, NWN1 is just a glorified dungeon crawlerIs it just the old = better crowd?
>>3941444>NWN2https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6antjcBFZ4
>>3941444old IS better. If it wasn’t, there wouldn’t be a huge creative void in video game franchises where all they can do is re-release old games with updated graphics because nobody has original ideas and/or the ability to write a compelling story anymore.
>>3941444It looks better, it have better animations, it have 3 gorillions modules that better and longer than original campaign and dlc to it, while nvn 2 barely have any at all. I guess if you want to compare just official nvn and nvn 2 plot-vice - nvn 2 is winning there, but mostly just because of Mask of Betrayal.
>>3941451okay but they're both old you retard, or you think older=better? go play tetris loser>>3941453>It looks better, it have better animationslol nope>better modulesonly argument, and this is extra-game content
>>3941454>lol nopelol yes. Fraudebsidian was soo fucking lazy, they couldn't even bother to do basic things like animating cleave attacks, not to mention more obscure stuff like - visible wings for dragon disciples. Everything just looks cheeper and lamer than in nvn generally. First nvn animations was filled with sovl, fights feels dynamic(, you and enemies constantly clashing sword and moving around without input. Second game have nothing of it. >only argument, and this is extra-game contentIt's really big argument actually. nvn2 generally don't even have much good content, outside of the Mask, and maybe Westgate, but this one was pretty short. OG campaign and Zephyr are pretty mid entries. All the potential pros of this game, like expanded classes and spells, are fucking ruined, cause there's barely any good "content" to run them with.
>>3941444NWN2's engine is liquid ass. Runs like shit to this day, it has a fucking rubber banding bug even played single player, total dogshit ally AI that interferes even when you have it turned off. MotB is good in spite of the engine it's on.
>>3941454>and this is extra-game contentthis is what the game is about
>>3941471well here is your answer oponly anons who hate obsidian's guts and build their entire online-persona around that would hold such an opinion strongly
>>3941444The people who say 1 is better were likely multiplayer server/custom module focused and weren’t talking about the single player campaigns.
>>3941444NWN2 was hated only because there was no BG2 style "romance". WHO CARES.
>>3941541No it's because NWN1 plays much more smoothly even in singleplayer.
>>3941681nwn is nigh unplayable, the module system engine thing is straight up broken and bugged
>>3941683No.
Well, if you just want build variety out of the box without the hassle of downloading dozen of mods, then yes, NWN2 is definitely the better choice, since it's based on the 3.5 rulebook
>>3942044>downloading dozen of modswhat mods?
>>3941444NWN2 is just kind of goofy looking and dogshit. NWN1 is a malleable, blank slate that players can customize to their liking and find a metric shit tonne of downloadable modules. It's as close to a D&D campaign as you'll get in a single & multiplayer videogame. Yes, 1 looks pretty dogshit graphically, but it's got a retro dogshitness that stands the test of time, whereas 2 was trying too hard to make people say 'wow' and just kind of falls flat because of it.
>>3941844>it gets good with mods the argumentthat could mean the mods are good, it could additionally mean the mod-tools are goodbut it doesn't make the game good
>>3942089Not "mods", modules. You TES babbies are confused by this.
>>3942097>NOOO YOU DON'T GET IT!!!!1>this player/fan-authored alteration of a video game namely a set of modifications, that either alter an existing game or add user-generated content is called a module not a mod!!>although quoting a wikipedia page "videogame modding" perfectly describes itwhat can I say, semantics is a retard's last line of defenseanyway I'd like to see you argue there is some fundamental differences that make my argument invalid when applied to NWN "modules"
>>3942106It isn't a "modification", it's a module, an adventure module. NWN1 does have mods too though. But the game is designed to run modules. It's like Unlimited Adventures.
>>3941448The shrek post in the other thread really cracked me up. I can't unsee that shit now lol.>>3941444Everything in your post is about the main game content. Yeah 2's official content mogs 1's but the entire point of these games is the fanmade campaigns. It sucks because 2 really could have been the better game but the tools suck and the whole thing is just way more jank than 1. >>3941471The lack of animation really annoys the hell out of me. Watching my character cleave through a bunch of enemies at once was always so satisfying in 1.
>>3941471>and maybe WestgateThe lack of voice acting really hurst MoW. I have no idea why it has so many cutscenes when the game has a perfectly functional dialogue window for unvoiced conversations.
>>3941471>first nvn animations was filled with sovl, fights feels dynamic, you and enemies constantly clashing sword and moving around without inputRight, I just love it when games move my character around without any player input. Especially when they back me into a corner or into an enemy AoO range. Why can't more modern devs make games with soul like that?
so disappointing that nwn2 remaster sucks ass
>>3941444>why do so many people say green turd is so much better than the brown turdboth games are mid, boring, forgettable, and only worth a playthrough if you are a teen with unlimited spare time
>>3941444>Why do so many people say NWN1 is better?Because it is?2 is dogshit, and nobody would care about it if it weren't for MotB.
>somanyyearsagoTODAY
someBODY
>>3944650Once
>>3944657told me
>>3941471>they couldn't even bother to do basic things like animating cleave attacksattacks of opportunity tooit unironically keeps me from replaying this shit because they couldn't even fix it in the remaster
>>3944059I love when people that obviously never played the game trying to pretend like they know what they are talking about. >>3945682>remasterOh, don't even let me start ranting about this jeetslop. It was made by the same company that made this god awful Deus Ex remaster, right?Kind of making you start to feel gratitude towards Beamdog despite all.
>all the shit-flinging about modules got removedlol>>3945698>Deus Ex remasterDidn't that one actually get canned or something?
>>3945698>I love when people that obviously never played the game trying to pretend like they know what they are talking about. He is right, though. In NWN your character will take steps during combat which might for example pull you out from the doorway you intended to block and you can't disable it. Moreover, it looks retarded.
>>3941444NWN1 was all about the user modules, persistent server worlds, and multiplayer DM shitNWN2 is just a shitty '00s single player CRPG, but as a shitty '00s single player CRPG it's light years better than NWN1's attempt.
>play NWN2>15 base classes>24 prestige classes>no respec capabilities, even when one of your companions CHANGES HIS CLASS due to a quest event>no multiclassing companions>no prestige classes for companions even when they meet the requirements for them>only the protagonist can take advantage of all these classes>your party ends up being the MC and three pure class characterswhat the actual fuck was obsidian smoking?
NWN 1 because Hordes of the Underdark.Fin
>>3946105>>no respec capabilities, even when one of your companions CHANGES HIS CLASS due to a quest event>no multiclassing companions>your party ends up being the MC and three pure class charactersI agree with some of your points, but these are actually based.
>>3946105>your party ends up being the MC because you murdered everyone else in a massive brawl at the endStop bothering me with your vapid opinions, plebs.
>>3941683another zoomer filtered by winrar lmao
>>3941683Interesting how other people don't seem to be having any problems.
>>3946105>muh respecShut up, fag.
>>3946105>>no respec capabilities, even when one of your companions CHANGES HIS CLASS due to a quest eventThat's fucking wrong you spreg. The dwarf goes back to a lvl one monk and you relvl him.
>>3946105Skill issue. Don't play og campaign.
>>3941444Outside the mods, the singleplayer are on par with each other across the board.
>>3941444> reactivity in dialogue and quest outcome, companions w/ friendships, rivalries and romances, and so on.Who cares? Both have shit gameplay and hence are shit games.
